Don't worry about it. The only hassle you may get, very occasionally, would be if a jobsworth member of CS staff wanted to make a comment if they saw your receipt. Even then they would only comment that 'you've used too many coupons, our policy is 10%' or whatever, and you just say 'oh, sorry, I didn't know that as I normally use another store where they scan any'.
I have had a lecture twice about it, but only because I raised my profile by taking the receipt to CS for a nice R&R freebie and they were not too chuffed to give stuff away and refund more than I had paid on my credit card. Even if you are not an R&Rer, you may like to make sure you don't overdo the coupon-use on something you have to collect from CS, like a console game or phone.
I now tend to separate my R&R attempts with a couple of normal small purchases, pay for them with about 3 coupons saying 'these bits need to be separate as they are for my Mum'. Then I do a separate transaction for the bulk of my other shopping using however many coupons the lad on the till will scan! Then CS don't get to look at that receipt (unless of course there is an unexpected overcharge on there!).
Whillst I fully understand your tactics, you are the type of person that will eventually result in Tesco stopping taking coupons and changing their R&R policy. Constantly trolling for R&Rs, multiple purchases of newspapers with coupons, then getting a refund bigger than your expense is taking the p***!
Your ID and footnote says it all Coupon-Mad!0 -
i did a 30 quid shop the other day and they would only take the 60p off one for pledge dusters from NOTW. and by Healthy living CC ones.
I had one for lactofree milk and computer said no, hadnt bought the product.
I seem to be a bit overrun with vouchers at the mo , cant get rid of them! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Individual's like Coupon-mad will not stop Tesco from accepting coupons or get them to abandon their Refund and Retain Policy!
The mass of Tesco's customers ... and they are truly a mass at now over £1 in every eight spent on a Tesco product ... do not benefit or even know about the R&R policy ... which was put in place by Tesco as a result of their consistent overcharging ...
My partner read in a financial journal 3 years ago, that tesco overcharge on average ... 3% per customer, per year .... some customers being overcharged by as much as 10%!
This as an appalling figure considering the companies size and influence ... The R&R policy is to in some way offer a 'way out' for Tesco .... they may ban individuals who scour the country for R&R's, focusing on high value products ... However it would be PR suicide alone to change or abandon it!
As for accepting coupons ... we are again a few very insignificant fish in a very huge pool of high spending shoppers ... Tesco's instore policy's on this are hit and miss ... but at the end of the day ... Tesco introduced this policy to lure customers away from other big chains ... which they have been successful in doing ... the only thing that now may stop them is the threat of legal action over fraud .... not Coupon-mad ....
As Martin says ... and what this whole site is about ... Consumer Revenge! ..... They have taken advantage of 'us' for years with clever marketing, gimmicks and policies ... now we are wising up! .... if we get a few baskets of free shopping by playing them at their game ... rather than being it ... is that not just?LittleBill ... Couldn't have put it better LittleBill. I am a coupon abuser and R+R if I see something I want. I have never seen the person before me at a till use a pile of coupons. Lets face it Tesco still manage to make a huge profit.0

Hello keatergreyhound, and thank you for the greeting to another Wigstonian (for 19 years although not originally). I have never had the nerve to try the self scans. I do my main shop in ASDA Oadby and only try the occasional coupon at S Wigston Tesco. The best success I had in Wigston Tesco was where the cashier had no change for a £10 note for a £2-odd shop and let me pay almost in full in coupons because it solved the problem.

I use quite alot of coupons in Tesco. I have to save money where I can and although I don't actively seek R&R's now, I will always check my receipt and chase anything owing. I don't see what is the harm in that. If they have a policy and they accept the coupons then fine.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Well I think we'll agree to disagree Martin!
I'm quite happy, I am not doing anything wrong. R&R is not illegal and buying multiple newspapers is positively encouraged everywhere (my local Newsagents thanked me last week for buying 16 copies of the Daily Mail).
As for coupons, my local Waitrose and one local Asda accept ANY NUMBER of coupons (you can pay for your whole shop with them). I check at CS every time I go there, I did so today at Asda in case they had changed the policy like some other Asdas. 'Oh no, that's fine, as long as they are not Asda mag ones, internet prints or out-of-date you can use as many as you like, the only difference is we have to get a supervisor to sanction it now at the till' I was told. So I used about £17-worth on shopping totalling almost £100.
As for Tesco, the point is that I don't R&R often and obviously not more than the total I pay, because coupons ARE valid payment too. The store can redeem them and make more money, so we are all happy and I keep returning.
Thanks for your support LittleBill, ella2002 and katskorner!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

There is no harm in that Katskorner. I do likewise and have had quite a few R&Rs on genuine overcharges. It is those who come on here bragging about filling their shopping trolley full of steak, lamb, chicken etc that is mispriced by a penny purely to get R&R then promptly give (or sell) it to their friends, family etc that I am talking about.
I am not disputing the stats about how much they overcharge etc, however they managed to put a temporary block on online codes due to excessive use - why wouldn't they start banning the p*** takers from their stores and changing their R&R policy? - after all they've crushed most of the competition now!0
