Today, I asked the SA what coupons she'd accept, she said 'only if you've purchased the product' so I didn't have much luck today, as my usual SA wasn't there.

I think it varies so much from store to store. A couple of stores I go to will take any amount & others will take nothing.

I do have a lovely co who takes loads off my shopping. I just hand them a bunch & if they dont scan Im given them back. I wouldnt like to think they get into trouble for scanning too much but Ive most times Ive had well over 10% taken off.

I did get a refund the other day & the cs gave me my money back in cash as Id paid by coupons, with a smile I may add.

I now only shop on a Sat and Sun - a pain I know but well worth it! :j
I asked at CS about 2 yrs ago what the voucher policy was - I was told 3 per transaction. I therefore started to hand over 3 at a time, sometimes spliting my shopping into 2 or 3 lots, without any problems. Then, about 8 months ago I got an operator who asked if I had any more vouchers I wanted to give her? I said that according to CS, the policy was 3. She said she had worked there pt since it opened and had been told way back at the start that they could accept as many vouchers as the customer had provided they were in date and scanned. Happy Days!! She is the reason I now shop at the weekend - she is at Uni thru the week!!
Anyway, on Sun I did a £22 odd shop and paid precisely 3p!!
I ask her every single week if she is sure it is ok and that she does not get into trouble and each week she tells me, no it is their policy.

The SA in my nearest Tesco (South Wigston) said they have a new policy to only accept coupons when you have bought the product. I was only offering one coupon where I had not bought the item (the Colgate 35p one) so she said she would take it off anyway if it would go through - which it did. They certainly are cracking down generally.

Warning to anyone shopping in Tesco Coulby Newham on the Self Scan tills today i noticed some notices saying "Due to a Computer Error we cannot accept any Coupons/Vouchers and the slots were taped up.

I had £2.00 worth to use as short date and was spending alot of money today so no joy today, I was gutted, I wonder if someone has been abusing the system !

Not gulity i only use genuine ones and small amounts.
  • Asda Small Heath took my five vouchers on Saturday (£17.00 ish spend) and mom went in today with a short date one which was also accepted on a £5.00 ish spend.

Tesco Monkspath also took five vouchers yesterday without any problem.

This was at the CS desk done by the Checkout Superviser ...

    Total of £19 ...

She then said ... "You have some other coupons to take off don't you?"

So I handed over my wad of coupons and she rang them through the CS till .... She took them all including £7 in Sainsburys Mag' vouchers ... final total ... £6!

All ended well ... but me thinks that was flying a little close to the wire! ...

Have copied this from my post on another thread ... it shows how daft they can be at times!

    No wonder we're confused!

Got over £14 off £50 shop lastnight using the £5 Sainsbury's mag one and the Asda mag ones that come up at the wrong price. On self-serve, ours doesn't seem to have the 10% limit that some stores do.

  • I tried the ASDA and Sainsbury ones but the cashier wouldnt take as he had studies each coupon and realised that they werent Tesco ones.

I went back the next day and used them in the self scan till. It beeped after the £5 one but the assistant just asked if I had used my Tesco mailing voucher and over rode it!!
