Ok, my post was slightly tongue in cheek, but the moral of the story was that evidence tampering can work both ways. Not all coppers are Sam Tyler, you know!

Very tongue in cheek, unless you can provide evidence of it happening.

WOW so you can post pictures.

Can you magic up some evidence to support your claim.

Yeah! I can post this too:

All the better to reel you in with once you took the bait :p

As I said, it's not a claim. I don't know any bent coppers, nor have I ever been pulled over by one. Snotty and grumpy ones, maybe, but not corrupt. I merely added a side-note of principle disguised as a retort to a gag which it seems has run its course and you have taken it all too seriously and out of its original context.

    Sorry, GEEGEE8, you were saying...?

try traffic police in my homeland -albania..
if you do, then the english trafic police would look the sweetest nicest thing on the road;);)
Im on holidays to my dad s house and got a toyota 4x4 here since 2005...english side steering, full albanian registration and documents and insured.
Sick of them bothering me every time i drive!.
After a lengthy dispute regarding my ''speeding ''(think a toyota hilux 4x4 pick up 1996 ''flying'' with 35 mph) he shouts at me and i tell him ''hey , im 35, if you have decided to give me a ticket , do so, but stop shouting at me !''
his answer -''you are warning me or what? i can call for reinforcement and you ll see !
....being faced with more police i decided to use the power of the pound
''listen officer , im not good at fighting etc but if i , somehow end up with ticket or get arrested today, all my pounds back in england will serve only and only to make your sad life hell..and you ll be so weak that even your sexy fake dolce gabana sunglases wont fit anymore.. you choose!!

it worked ... i was told to f-off and get with my way..
now compare that with the english policemen who ever stoped me , checked and after found everything ok, say ''have nice trip''

Yes, I suppose it may have been hanging over the plate a little. She didn't say that was the reason though, just that it was a danger to other road users..

To be honest if I was a cop and saw any part of a car hanging loose where it wasn't meant to be i'd pull if I had a chance.
The officer could see it was broken, for all she knew it could fall off at any time and be a potential danger to others (I've had tyres damaged by such things), thus a pull and check of the obvious bits that people don't bother to maintain.

The wiper will not come off. I know this because I've tried. Why is that any different to knowing your wheels will not come off when you have fitted it?

My car is far from poorly maintained and I'm getting tired of people accusing me of it to be honest. The wiper has broken and the car has a scratch/dent on the wing from someone hitting it whilst it was parked outside my house. That isn't poor maintenance! That's accident damage and not my fault.

Sorry, but she was off hand with me, and this is a villiage I live in, not the middle of London, so I doubt she has seen anything that horrific.

    How do you know that?

Anyways ....a damaged wiper blade hanging down probably contravenes Construction and use regs somewhere.

Police recruits are no longer picked for ability or dedication. Magic quotas and political reliability are now the name of the game.

    I didn't say I knew, I said I doubt.

They start shifts at 10pm round here, and I got pulled at 10:45 ish, they were sat in the dark on a roundabout, can't have been very busy.

I'm sure my wiper wasn't ideal no, and I don't doubt it was a potential hazard, but she was still very funny with me over a wiper blade that was not in danger of falling off.
