    ahhhhh thank you soooo much!!

I have literally been addicted to coke since I was about 15 or 16 - people laugh when I say that, cos its "not ciggies or drink" but it is really difficult - at the worst point I was drinking between 2 and 4 litres a DAY! I got that down recently to about 2 litres every 2 or 3 days and as of last week stopped buying it completely - its horrible, drinks dont taste the same, Im restless at night and I think sometimes I go slightly mad lol. This thread will be a lifesaver - giving up the oke and fizzy drinks is the only way I will ever lose the weight I need to!

Will you join us on the challenge then weeclick? We need to support each other here.

I've got a bottle in the fridge, nicely chilled but I'm trying to avoid it and have had some squash., no it's not the same but it's not bad. Just a matter of changing the taste buds and triggers.

How have you been today Dollybeads?
  • oh no! its my only vice i have left!
hi everyone, i can empathise with the caffeine withdrawal, mine was forced on me 9 months ago when i developed a serious kidney infection and was hospitalised and then again a few weeks later as it hadnt gone!
needless to say no tea for me for several days where as well as the excruciating pain in my kidneys i also had one in my head.... i realised after that it was the caffeine as i used to drink about ten cups of tea a day.
since then i have tried to drink tea and it tastes disgusting! i joke that the nhs killed my love of tea!
i now drink gallons of water as i never want to go through that again!
i drink diet coke as i have nothing else to drink! well thats my excuse as i dont like squash etc
but it can get out of hand, so i am too getting a grip of it. im going to try for one can or less per day.
hell....... im going to have to take up knitting ha ha!
    good luck to all!:rotfl:

niv as well Mr A there is Mr T, Mr S, and Mr M, now you work it out this time. I'd love to join this thread as I can easily get hooked on Nescafe Skinny Cappuccino's I just love them and used to drink up to two boxes full every three days, 10 packets in each box. I'm slowly reducing my intake to two to three a day at the moment. Full price its about £2.50 or so a box so I only buy when its on offers I know its not so dear as buying when out but it still works out expensive and there are far better things to spend my money on. I only drink Rooibos tea which doesnt contain any caffeine in it at all but I do enjoy a diet Coke and seem to be able to limit this to one can every two or three days, so I dont consider its a problem but the cappuccinos well thats another story especially as I have high blood pressure and on medication to reduce it.
    Keep to £400 a month on C/C.

  • Mornng all, Diet coke free day yesterday (yay) hoping for another today and not to replace diet coke with strong coffee!

Am going to hit that sugar free squash at work (very dilute as don't like it that much) but am hoping I can get used to it. Before Christmas I did have a whole month without coke, but fell off the wagon. I think I have mentioned this before, that when I go shopping I am literally quivering with excitement at the thought of ripping open the plastic as soon as I get out of the Mr Ts and drinking a whole can in moments. The diet coke elves have got me good.................I guess the sensible thing is not to buy any!!

Have a good day everyone and a coke or caffeine free if possible :j

  • I think it's a bit like nsd's it's about planning, focus and coping strategies.

How about you try to limit yourself to 2 a day? You must think it's a bit of a problem if you're reading this thread. Aww go on images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRCSusuC1ADkLB7muUsqIxOFHTNI7lgfmgPR0aUMQ5lgz8A96te3Q

    :rotfl:

I've realised that I've actually had less than usual over the past 3 days- largely because I mistakenly ordered the mini cans instead of the normal size from Asda. I have been having one of the min cans (150ml) when I would usually have a 330ml can. As such I've halved my usual amount of diet coke per day over the past few days.
BUT.... I will run out of the small cans today and now have 3 1L bottles. My first aim is going to be to make them last over the weekend until Monday. I tend to probably drink more at the weekend when I'm at home more, so we'll see how I go and then I'll make another plan for next week!

So, please put me down for 3L in 4 days!!! :p

Well day 1 over not bad managed less than 2ltr but just over my 1ltr a day target will hopefully do better today as i have got 2 500ml bottles yesterday 1 for me 1 for tich i already have 1 bottle as i always refill from big one so as we have hardly any in today didn't get big one as iceland wouldn't let me do home delivery something about no space oh well one way of cutting down as i couldn't carry anymore so will try to last as long as poss before i need a bit i prefere it from a bottle that way i only have a little bit at a time just enough to wet me whistle that way it lasts longer can't put lid on a can so you have to drink all of it not good when cutting down

I need to get a bottle of water too so my fluid intake stays the same 1 LITRE OF ANY FLUID BE IT TEA COFFEE MILK SHAKE WATER JUICE OR COKE NOT ENOUGH 2LITRES OR MORE
WILL TRY TO ALTERNATE BETWEEN THE 2

It's strange how things can change i went from 5 mugs of tea a day before i left home then went up to 10 + in a day when lived with in laws my mil was a lovely person boy did she love her tea, then cut down a bit then stopped altogether when pregnant as couldn't stand the taste til after baby was born then not that much don't drink it much now unless i'm really low on coke like today mmm decissions milky coffee or tea think coffee wins can't go cold turkey just yet got to have some caffine

does anyone know how much caffine is in a litre of coke??

was going to edit post but as laptop playing up won't risk it

NOW TO ANSWER MY QUESTION HOW MUCH CAFFEINE IN 1LITRE COKE according to cokeacola website answers are
    330 can coke or coke zero = 32mg caffeine 1ltr bottle =96mg
    330 can of DIET COKE = 42MG CAFFEINE 1ltr bottle =128mg
mug of tea average= 75mg mug coffee =100mg

SO ALL YOU DIET COKE ADDICTS ARE COMSUMING MORE CAFFEINE THAN US NORMAL COKE DRINKERS
I'M GLAD I CHECKED THAT OUT AS I ALWAYS THOUGHT COKE HAD MORE CAFFEINE THAN COFFEE NOW I KNOW IT'S NOT I'M NOT SURE WHAT I'M GONA DO ????
    HOPE THIS HELPS

Have you checked the figures against independent figures? I'm not sure I'd accept them as accurate without checking.
