dollybeads - thanks for the idea about the demotivator im on it now!
I have a major issue with tea, i can easily drink one cup an hour at work. The main problem is how much milk and sugar i have - we're talking 50% milk and 3 sugars. So its not really tea rather warm milk and sugar! we get free tea, milk & sugar at work but my yearly spend is still roughly £120 ive worked out! I really just want to be able to cut down a bit so hopefully it will help me lose some weight, i lost loads when i gave up fizzy drinks!Aug £10 a day £0/£10000 -
Hya all
Just popping over from the NSD thread to say hello and see how everyone is getting on.
I never drink tea or coffee (except as a liqueur coffee after a nice meal out, so very rarely - once a year if that!)...so my caffeine intake there is almost zero. However, in the past I have drunk loads of colas, mostly diet, in the many failed efforts to lose weight. I too used to get headaches, either through drinking too much...or not enough!!
It was after having my two boys and taking them to the dentist who said that fizzy drinks were too acidic for teeth, we started cutting down. So we now only tend to have a single 2 litre bottle for the three of us (DS1 @ Uni), once a week. We have it with the Sunday evening meal (usually a roast), but sometimes have it with both weekend meals...then it may be only DS2 and me as DH often has a glass of wine. We still only have 2 litres...and it's either Tesco Sugar free Lemonade (with real lemon) or Lidl's Freeway...which is only 38p for 2 litres (or at least was before Xmas...we still have loads left!) and tastes lovely! The rest of the time I drink filtered tap water. DS2 & I re-use plastic bottles to drink from...useful for his college & rugby, and for me @ work (with computers).
Sorry for the ramble....not sure if I can give you much help of how to reduce your cola intake. We just said that for our teeth's sake, we would only drink it with meals, so that cut some of the consumption immediately, then eventually it became the Sunday treat, as I would "forget" to have any in the house until the weekend!
Good luck everyone...I'll pop over once in a while to see you you are getting on, otherwise I'll see you on the NSD thread!

Please be careful though as caffeine is a drug and therefore stopping at once will likely mean some side effects. I tried giving up coffee 3 years ago and no lie ended up being prescribed valium to mellow me out as I was hallucinating and hearing voices, fair enough 16 cups of strong coffee was a bit excessive.
Reduce slowly and not only will you avoid side effects, you'll be less likely to lose it and binge out.
Good luck though, i'm down to 5 cups of coffee or diet coke a day but would like to get that down to a couple.0 -
Ahhhh mrA = Asda, never heard that terminology before regarding supermarkets, thanks for teh clarification.
To add to BigCraig above, I drink alot of tea in work and can confirm that when i went on annual leave and had less tea I did get quite a few headaches for a few days which I did put down to lack of caffeine, may not have been but did seem to match up.
