Seems a bit silly, we always had to pick a 2nd choice and a 3rd choice in case our first option wasn't available. Maybe you need to find out what the other options are.littlepinkstars44 wrote: »It just seems unfair, as at the start of the year the uni were trying to put us off picking languages altogether, and now it seems i am being punished because i have picked a language.
How have you managed to base your degree around languages so heavily if they are trying to put you off them and teach them at a college? What is your degree?
EDIT: Just read your reply above. Well, having another module that fits in with your others isn't the end of the world. If you wanted to do Spanish so badly, you shouldv'e chosen that in the first place. You could always take your existing credits & do an OU module/award.littlepinkstars44 wrote: »Also i will have an exam for spanish
and none of the other modules have any exams!
No offence but you're coming across as pretty bratty. Many people prefer exams to coursework anyway.0 -

We only have 9 hours contact a week, thank god!
But for some reason it all seems to be on a Friday this semester, I should be alright, i am good friends with my Spanish lecturer, we go to Zumba together and she lives down the road from me. Just have to let her know the situation i guess, and see what happens.
I have read the posts below this, but felt the need to reply....
My current degree is a BSc, however I already have an arts based degree. It wasn't unusual for us to be in 8-10 hours per week on my previous arts course, however now I am in almost every day.
Last semester, I was in uni 9 out of every 10 days, two of which started at 9am, and finished at 4pm. I was also out on placement during this time- an 80 mile round trip.
I have 5 exams and an assignment due in before semester two starts, however I think myself lucky because I now have a three day week in semester two! :rotfl:This on top of two part time jobs, and a 60 mile round trip to uni each day, spent mainly in rush hour.
No words of advice other than do what I do. Take a packed lunch and a flask. In addition, be happy that the time spent in uni is productive and have the rest of the week to with as you wish.

Cause there are only 18 of us on my course, we always get our first choice for our options.jennikitten wrote: »How have you managed to base your degree around languages so heavily if they are trying to put you off them and teach them at a college? What is your degree?
Done my first 2 years at the college, studied spanish, italian and french with tourism modules, then went straight into 3rd year at uni, again have studied spanish and italian at uni..well at the college but through the uni.
Uni have changed the course this year, and are trying to make it more business orientated, so far have not done 1 module relating to tourism at all this year! Tried to put us all off by saying languages dont count towards our honors classification, though i spoke to the head of our course who told me that it is only the beginers and intermediate levels that don't count, as they dont have exams...so my levels from last year and this year will count towards my classification. But some of my classmates wanted to pick a language this year, although they would be doing the beginners levels and got talked out of it as it won't count towards their classification.jennikitten wrote: »EDIT: Just read your reply above. Sorry i'm not too sure what you mean here, that was my choice i picked Spanish for this semester?
I get that alot, sorry i don't mean to be thats just how i am most of the time.jennikitten wrote: »No offence but you're coming across as pretty bratty. Many people prefer exams to coursework anyway.0 -

That seems fair enough, to be honest. To get an Honours degree you will need to do enough credits and at the required levels.0 -

I think this was the only good thing about having the timetable I did have. It also meant that I wasn't just in for one hour that day. It was either at least 3 hours in the morning, 5 in the afternoon or a full day. That made it so much easier.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I'm on placement and jesus what a shock!! It does make LOL about threads like this (no offence OP) though! In my 2nd year I had a 9am - 7pm day with no breaks because in my break I had to go to the student support unit that helps students with ALN because I was a mental health patient and needed certain support and they could only fit me in on 9am - 7pm day! At the time I was like Awww man this is SO hard.
Now I work at least 40 hrs a week at placement (normally nearer 50) as well a 12 hr job with an hour travel each way. So brutal!0
