I recently went to my local CEX to sell my 17 month old samsung S5560. The guy had a look and deemed it grade B which seemed fair enough to me. I was offered cash £35 or store credit of £46. I chose cash and I was paid then and there. So pretty happy with the service considering that the best price I was quoted by online recyclers was £26 by speedsell and even if I had used quidco and qualified for cashback, I would still have obtained only a total of around £30.0

I looked online to see which companys would give me the most money back for my old iPhone, Cex came out top with £120.00
On there website i found that they had a store in my local town. The mobile is in perfect working order only thing is that it has been used for 15 months so had some slight wear and tare on it as do all mobile phones when there used.
I found the original box, earphones, sync lead and charger so that the phone was complete with all its original accessories and took the mobile into there shop.
The shop was run by a bunch of young useless lad's, who were very rude and more concerned about what party there were going to , how drunk they would get and how many girls they were going to get with more than serving the queue of customers.
I was told that that they had alot of the iPhone 3Gs come in recently and that if i wanted to sell it to them i would have to leave it with them for 4 days and they would get back to me, he also mentioned that they had no money to pay out to customers and that because the phone had some minor scratches on it, it would be classed as "in not working condition" and they would only give a max of £30.00 for the phone.
Which is far differnt to what it states on there website! for a used fully working with all original accessories etc.
I Was Not Impressed, It felt to me like they had been told to not take in any Apple iPhone 3G mobiles as they had alot of them.
Very Poor Customer Service
Not a nice place to sell or buy from
I would recommend selling your old phone on ebay i did and i got £160.00 for it in the end.0 -
I still use them a fair amount - but only ever via the internet, never the shops. Just had the money for my latest sale; exactly as agreed when I sent it. Your phone sounds like a B grade. Prices on the site tend to be correct and rarely downgraded provided you put in the right grade when you sell it. Only ever had one or two problems and I will continue to use them as long as they continue to play fair - which in my experience they generally do. I recently sold a phone to webuyanyphone - that wasn't as smooth an experience, though after threatening to sue I did get my money. I generally sell to the highest bidder provided I can protect myself in the process; CEX usually offers the highest prices (internet, not shops) and by a large margin.0

I sent my phone off to CEX in its box and in good condition apart from some very minor scratches on the back over two weeks ago.
Their website says a weeks turnaround but after a week I asked where my phone was and told I would just have to wait.
A week later I asked what was happening, and they said that there was a backlog and I would just have to wait.
I emailed back saying I was considering going to consumer direct about it and almost instantly my phone was sent back as being "badly scratched". I can't wait to see what condition my phone comes back in.
Terrible company, do not use them.Microsoft Certified IT Professional x 3 (Vista - Enterprise and Consumer, Server 2008)

Well, I'm afraid I use them fairly often and rarely have any problems. They are reasonably fast (though not as fast as some by all accounts) and usually accurate in what they pay. They also almost (but not always) invariably pay far better prices.0

This experience related to their online/web site sell service:
They quoted best price for my Blackberry 8900 which was working, in original box with all accessories.
Confirmed by email would send padded envelope. Hadn't arrived 4 days later so contacted by email. 2 days later got apology, bag was on its way.
A week later no envelope. Emailed again. 2 days later 'you can send it at your cost if you don't want to wait', Waited another day and gave in, sent guaranteed, arrived next day. No response.
10 days later I contacted them to see what was happening and give them 4 days to pay up or return the phone. No response.
3 days later the phone turned up without any explanation but it had a PAYG sim card with no credit in it.
2 Days later an email saying it had failed their testing without any explanataion. Switched on the phone and it still works.
I will never ever touch this useless outfit again.0 -
Useless!
Traded in phone 2 weeks ago
Postal instructions not clear
Sent my phone in perfect condition and working order - they tested it as faulty - first I was told it kept rebooting, then I was told it wouldnt boot up!
I received my phone back - I switched it on - still working perfectly!
The onlt trouble was - half of my accessories were missing. They kept my leather case and hands free kit!
When I queried this with them (it takes apx 3-4 days to get a reply) they sent me a voucher for a fiver!! The Cheek...I am still in dispute with them!
After receiving my phone back. I traded it in with Fonebank - no problem. Smooth seemless transaction and speedy payment - such a contrast to the shoddy unprofessional CEX. do not use - they cant even test a phone to see if it is working, then they keep the bits they want and send you back the bits they dont!0 -
I had previously used Envirophone, who were excellent, but thought I'd give CEX a try as they were offering the best price on my two old Sony Ericssons. I was fair with my own grading of the phones - one 'good' and one 'poor' - but when I received CEX’s own grading of my phones, one wasn’t working at all. What a joke! They were both in working order when I sent them. As a result what they offered me was just about enough money to cover one chocolate bar!!!
I requested my phones be sent back to me which I sent onto Envirophone. Once again Envirophone were excellent; they provided a much speedier and fairer service than CEX and paid the money (which was the amount they stated when I entered the information online before I posted the phones – unlike CEX who just lied with their estimation) immediately.
DO NOT USE CEX.0 -
hi guys I just wanted to tell my story/feed back of cex ............
before christmas last year I when in to sell my old acer 5310 the girl who server said that she couldn't give me and offer cos some parts was missing then in feb 2011 I try to sell my samsung n130 but the guy who server me on that day , again couldn't make me an offer cos the windows sticker was faded out , thats rubbish cos you can still see the numbers and letters clearly. Then in june 2011 I tryed to sell my ipod touch 8gb , but still they couldn't give me money for it cos the screen had a very tiny crack. so all in all I have told so many lies at this store and I will never ever be going back there cos 1 I get fob off 2 the staff are sometimes rude and can not bothered to server you . I'm still looking to sell my netbook , but where I'm going to sell it other then ebay I don;'t know.0 -
I had three phones to sell (for a relative who'd been hoarding them); checked prices on the MSE tool; sent one to Mobile Phone Xchange which was very speedy and efficient.
I'm trying to sell the other two phones to CEX. They sent a 'pre-paid' envelope which the post office wouldn't take because it's not 'pre-paid' or marked as freepost. V annoying. Contacted them and got a reply in dodgy English saying they'd had a problem with their pre-paid envelopes. Still waiting for replacement envelope. It's been two weeks. Best avoided if you have a choice.0
