They would have sent you an email as soon as you sold it on their site; it would have the order number on it. Apart from anything else, you cannot post it to them without the order number because they won't tie it up with your sale - which is quite possibly why you haven't heard anything.
If the phone was worth a fair amount it's always your risk unless you send it SD and insured. If a lower amount you can get a certificate of postage and still claim from Royal Mail.
When logging on to your account it's a bit fiddly, but you need to fiddle around until you get sold orders before you can click onto your order history and status (though when you do it isn't always that helpful). You can email them but it's hit and miss. I have used them a lot and had one or two minor problems - but always weigh up the risk of sending non-SD against the value and ALWAYS (for lower values) bother to take it to a post offcie and obtain the certificate of posting.
If you haven't taken these precautions you can kiss it goodbye - for they are MUCH quicker turning around a phone that 3 weeks (less than 1 usually).0 -
When I posted it the woman in the post office told me I couldn't send it recorded delivery because it was already recorded... got a tracking number and it says it has yet to be delivered which I can't believe is right when I posted it such a long time ago.
Am very confused by the whole thing.
The letter told me to simply put my phone in the jiffy bag provided which already had a label on and send it to them. I assumed the label had an identifying number or bar code on it that would tie up the order number with the phone.
Am now realising it is all my fault and you are right - I have no hope!0 -
Not entirely. The label had the order number on it; you should have also included a letter with that on it. The tracking number will never show it delivered; it's good old Royal Mail's way of pretending to do an effiecient job without actually doing it. It wasn't recorded delivery; just recorded posting. It is worth contacting CEX and confirming it was sent three weeks ago; should you have proof of posting (you appear to have the tracking number) you should be able to claim around £40+/- from them once they have "investigated". They will write to CEX to confirm they didn't receive it; CEX won't bother to reply to them, so before it gets that far any written (email) confirmation to you from CEX that they never received it shoudl do the trick - though I wouldn't tell that to CEX when you ask where your money is.0

Online is AWFUL! and not having a contact number makes it even worse!
Bought a few items which they had alot of in stock (ps move controllers etc) total was about £60 for a few days it was stuck on stock picking in progress so i emailed various times to eventually recieve a reply saying " I will push you order ahead" I got excited as the order status changed too stock picking complete. BUT then:mad: stuck on that for few days then ready to be dispatched for a few days and all; through this I kept emailing and getting no reply! Items arrived eventually and were fine but the customer service is pathetic...they don't seem to ever check there emails and don't have a phone line? I wouldn't mind no phone line as long as they answered emails but they don't!
On top in store I took a brand new phone which I had got as a upgrade still boxed they said they had to open it to test I agreed and then was told its B condition not A? Well what IS A condition then??????
Now I've made mistake of buying a so called A condition laptop off there website which is in excess of £600 and they still don't give a crap about my custom! They say it would be sent by special delivery which is next day if item is over £200...well that's useless unless they actually dispatch it within a week!0 -
I used the MSE mobile phone recycling deal checker and identified CeX as the only company offering to buy my Benq-Siemens EL71, which is in perfect working order, for £14.
Went for the pre-paid envelope option to send them the phone + accessories, waited a couple of weeks, then received the whole package back with no covering e-mail, letter or any other explanation.
E-mailed them asking what was going on and received this reply: 'Unfortunately we were unable to purchase your phone as the battery is swollen, we are unable to purchase a phone in this condition'
This was completely untrue. Do not trust these people.0 -
Has anyone sold a mobile phone to this company?
I decided to sell my mobile phone to them & sent it a couple of weeks ago. I have heard nothing from them & no money has been transferred into my bank account.
I have contacted them twice via email & no reply. I have checked my online CeX account & the status continuously shows "processing".
I'm concerned that I'm not gonna receive the cash promised & don't know what I can do about it.
Any positive advice would be appreciated.0 -

I buy and sell games to them, they can be slow and sometimes it gets stuck at processing even once a game or payment has been sent.

I've sold quite a few mobiles to them but only via my local store which is a quick and easy process - drop it off in the morning to be checked, go back in the afternoon and walk out with the cash in my pocket
Sorry you've had trouble, hopefully it gets sorted soon.0 -
Depending on what the phone is worth you can a) claim back about £42 from the post office IF they haven't received it or b) claim back the whole value IF you sent it Special Delivery. I use them quite often and have had one go missing; I always bother to get proof of posting so got compensation from Royal Mail.0

I did get proof of posting luckily. I just think it's ignorant of them to not reply to emails. I have no clue whether they have received the phone, however, no cash has been deposited in my bank account from them.0
