USwitch prices for EON are showing up to 30% higher than EON are advising me they are actually charging (21% even allowing for pre/post prices rise). The difference is between EDF (pre-march rise) being £250 cheaper or EON being £100 cheaper post its rise.

I have e-mailed Helena with the details and perhaps she will put a generalised reply here because this needs clarification.

There was a glitch on USwitch. For my consumption (which is V high for electric), EON are 3% higher for Duel Fuel than EDF's best rate, but EDF may review prices in less than six weeks, not having put them up yet this winter, so I am staying put for now.
  • I'm on Eon's SaveOnline v3, and my Eon account website shows the current pre-rise prices. Is there any way to work out, or find out, how much my unit prices are rising to? I can't seem to find this out anywhere...

    FROM EON today:-

Your new unit prices from 4 February for SaveOnline 3.

    Electricity,
    Primary units 16.770
    Secondary units 9.570

    Gas,
    Primary units 5.158
    Secondary units 2.782

These are EX-VAT so add 5% to all. Not sure if this is with or without dual-fuel discount though.
  • I've just returned from holiday and opened E.ON new prices letter for E.ON SaveOnline 2 dated 4 February 2011.

    Here are the details:
    New gas prices:
First unit rate 7.26p/kWh including VAT. Annual Threshold 2680 kWh
Next unit rate 3.158p/kWh including VAT

    New electricity prices:
First unit rate 24.77p/kWh including VAT. Annual Threshold 900 kWh
Next unit rate 11.288p/kWh including VAT

"You'll continue to receive any discounts you're currently entited to. Discounts are not payable on final bills."
It really does may it very difficult to work out what is the cheapest E.ON tariff and to make comparisons with other suppliers.
Also do the comparison websites include the discounts?

Yes the comparison sites usually include all the discounts.
The comparison site will detail how they calculated your anticipated annual cost i.e. which discounts they have included, etc.

On the Eon savonline 2 tariff mentioned above in for instance the Midlands area the discount that won't be granted on the final bill should you switch away to another supplier is a whopping 26.6%!! Time your move away wrong and you end up with a final bill that includes at least a couple of months of high winter usage. That would equate to a not inconsiderable 'exit fee that isn't called an exit fee but is actually a never ending exit fee'. This fact isn't mentioned on any comparison sites!
  • Just had a look at the Ts and Cs for Eon FixOnline 8. It appears that Eon will apply ALL discounts (DD 6%, Dual Fuel 2% and FixOnline 16.8%) up to the end date of the plan. The only exception is within Term 17 of the Ts and Cs:

''If you switch supplier before your plan end date you will not be eligible to receive any discounts including the FixOnline discount on your final bill.''

So, as my plan ends on 1st July 2011, provided my switch doesn't go through before that date, I take this to mean ALL discounts will be applied to the final bill.

I would suggest you put MillicentBystander (aka 1carminestocky et al) on your ignore list. Many have and it leads to a much better experience here.

You are correct, if you complete the contractual period you will get all discounts applicable to that contract even if you then switch supplier and these are included on your final bill.

The only discounts (if any) that you will not have on your final bill will be for the few days/weeks possibly from the end of the contract period to the day you actually switch. Obviously that would depend on what tariff you go onto for those few days/weeks.
