  • Really hacked off as I only yesterday signed up to the Save4 online package and am now totally unsure about what to do as I can't find details of this anywhere, and whether it will still offer me any savings.

    Anyone know what is happening?

    Hi merrymilla,

The SaveOnline 5 prices will stay as they are, as you say this tariff only came out today and the unit costs won't go up on 4 February 2011.

So SaveOnline 5 will stay the same on 4th February,
but no guarantees on SaveOnline 4. But of course, by 4th February, your cooling off period is over.
  • I checked all sites this morning (before the BBC announcement) and EON Save Online V4 was coming up as the best for two properties. So I switched to EON Save Online V4 Duel Fuel for both properties.

I am checking now and the same sites are reporting that EDF Online Saver is cheaper for duel fuel.

Strangely, Save Online V4 does not even show up in the comparison list. Save Online V5 does - Any ideas what is going on here? Has EON V4 been replaced by V5?

Also, I note there is a cool off period of 7/14 days? As I switched over just this morning, can I cancel?

EON V4 is still showing up on Confused.com whereas all the other sites are showing EON V5. Here is a bunch of results from 4 sites showing the results for one of my properties. EDF and SP are the top two and EON V5 is in 4th/5th place. Figures are annual consumption in £££'s.

    USwitch

    EDF - 1116.29
    SP - 1135.08
    EON5 - 1150.12

    Money Supermarket

    EDF - 871.56
    SP - 877.67
    EON5 - 906.90

    Confused.com

    EON4 - 950.25
    EDF - 982.18
    SP - 994.94

    Energy Helpline

    EDF - 982
    SP - 995
    EON5 - 1011

Now to check the other property......brb

Based on the figures found above, was/is Scottish Power the best one to go for?

I only just found out that EDF are yet to announce their price increase (March 2011) but Scottish Power have already done so. This means that SP's rate today (including the price hike) is currently £12-15 more than EDFs non-risen rate.

I've noticed that most suppliers are charging the customer approximately £50-60 more. If EDF were to follow suit, I'd be probably be paying them £40 more than SP as of March 2011.

Am I right to assume that when EDF announces their rates, the price is likely to take go over and beyond the Scottish Power rate?

Would most people agree with that theory?

    Cheers
  • Thanks for the replies, all - I'd submitted the same question to E.ON at the same time and just had a call from someone there now - the information was somewhat conflicting with what's been said here.

I was told that the SaveOnline 5 prices WILL increase by 9% as from February.

That being the case, I think I may take advantage of the 14-day cooling off period and go elsewhere, as it's definitely not the deal I was looking for when I signed up to it.

    Hi merrymilla,

I am sorry you have been given the incorrect information, just to make it clear SaveOnline Version 5 will not increase on 4 February 2011.

But, SaveOnline version 4 will increase in line with the % increase briefed yesterday.

merrymilla if you have any info on who you have spoken to, could you send it to me via my email address in my profile page.

    Thank you

  • It's about time all the comparison sites some more things clear so we don't get the mess some are in here. What we need to know is:-

1 Date and value of last increases in prices (and the previous two to compare the frequency that supplier ups their prices

2 The average standard price for the that supplier over the last 2 years (or perhaps the average of all their domestic rates)

3 Whether a rate includes recently announced rises

Without this we are just hopping around in dark, its rediculous and actually no good for the energy companies because changing must cost them all - I seem to change every 10 months and its becuase of this price hopping that goes on.

The historical data you ask for has to be done for each area, otherwise it wouldn't help you that much.
  • USwitch prices for EON are showing up to 30% higher than EON are advising me they are actually charging (21% even allowing for pre/post prices rise). The difference is between EDF (pre-march rise) being £250 cheaper or EON being £100 cheaper post its rise.

I have e-mailed Helena with the details and perhaps she will put a generalised reply here because this needs clarification.
  • Having just checked the EON website their comparison prices for SO5 use their standard rates from the 11th January. This may explain why you are seeing their website coming in so cheap, i.e. the rates their comparison is using is pre the price increase whereas other comparison sites are using post the price increase.

Surely it does not have to be this difficult.
  • I'm on Eon's SaveOnline v3, and my Eon account website shows the current pre-rise prices. Is there any way to work out, or find out, how much my unit prices are rising to? I can't seem to find this out anywhere...
