EON: Price increase announced.
Just heard this on Radio 5 Live.
Electricity up by 9%
Gas up by 3 %
From BBC website:-
Customers of energy firm E.On will see a 9% increase in electricity prices and a 3% rise in gas prices from 4 February.
The supplier said it had "no option" but to raise prices owing to the wholesale cost of energy.

They seem to have done the opposite to what most suppliers have done here, which is bizarre.0

Opposite? How do you mean?
Can anyone confirm if these increases are on par with the increases announced by other suppliers or way more?
Thanks,0 -
Bummer! I was looking at changing to one of their other products yesterday as they were still the cheapest for me!

Thanks,
I meant that they have put electric up by about the same rate as the other suppliers have put their gas up - whilst most of the other suppliers have left their electrcity prices unchanged.0 -

Thanks,
The increase will affect around 4.3 million customers and will add an extra £62 onto the average annual standard dual fuel bill, which will increase from £1,187 to £1,249 as a result.
E.ON is the fifth supplier to announce a price rise in the last two months and 24.6 million customers have seen bills go up by an average of £65 or 5.4% due to price rises. Here’s a round up of the big 6 energy suppliers:
ScottishPower customers saw a 2% increase in gas prices and a 8.9% increase in electricity prices from 25th November 2010, adding an extra £52 onto bills
SSE (Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro, Swalec and Atlantic) customers saw a 9.4% increase in gas prices from 1st December 2010, adding an extra £67 onto bills
British Gas customers saw a 7% increase in gas and electricity prices from 10th December 2010, adding an extra £80 onto bills
npower customers saw a 5% increase in gas and electricity prices from 4th January 2011, adding an extra £65 onto bills
EDF Energy have announced a Winter Price Freeze Guarantee which promises to freeze its standard energy prices until the start of March 2011

It was going to be EDF or EON for me and I switched to EON for two properties today (before this announcement).
Seems like the price increase is on par with all the other suppliers.
I wonder if USwitch and other comparison sites are now taking into consideration the latest price for EON when spitting out the results?0 -
Does anyone know if you still get Tesco Clubcard points with this product?
I know a few of the products recently have stated that you don't collect points but can't see any mention on the T's & C's (although i have only scanned very quick as in work)?
the Price Protection April 2014 product specifically says that you get Clubcard points but no mention either way on the saveonline 5?
Thanks in advance

Hi - first post here after receiving the newsletter for ages now!
Couldn't believe it when I read the E.ON headline on BBC an hour or so ago. I've just this morning (8am-ish) switched my electricity package from E.ON's EnergyPlan to E.ON SaveOnline 5, which is listed with the following prices:
Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
17.787 pence
Normal units
10.626 pence per kWh
Does anyone know... should I expect these prices to now go up from next month, meaning I've shafted myself somewhat? Or have I been very lucky in getting onto the tariff at the last minute before E.ON announced their price rise?
First time I've ever done anything regarding changing my utility provider, so I'm not fully up to speed with how this would work. The T's & C's suggested that there was a penalty charge if I switch away before Jan 2012, but it looks as though I've got 14 days to change my mind on the tariff switch - so if I've actually just signed myself up for a more expensive year than expected, I'll try and get out of it now while I still can.
Any helpful information or comments appreciated!0 -
Saveonline 5 only came out today and i think it includes the price rise.0
