  • Hi All

I am in the same boat too, in the process of trying to get a basic account while sorting all the paperwork for the DMP.

Any buddies out there would be really helpful right now, even just to chat about how we're all doing, that kind of thing (not sure if there is anywhere on this site for that!).

    Hi,

You've inspired me to post! My debt management plan starts on 1st Feb I owe £ 28,274 (there I've said it!) give or take a bit this is from the info I gave CCCS just before Christmas. I've had to have a new bank account too I've gone with the co-op so far they seem to be very efficient and helpful, I havn't told them I'm on a DMP I don't know whether I should have done? I cant wait to get paid next week so that I can start sorting everything out. I had to have my ancient dog put down at the weekend and we were all devestated even though he was old, my son was particularly upset so I know how you feel Pink Angle. I feel a bit scared and lost with all this debt and the loss of a credit rating but much better than before I made the DMP decision so any advice welcomed please.

On the plus side I've had a £15 Frankie & Benny's voucher through the post today and I've joined the £2 club:)

Maganan, glad you've posted. I know exactly how you feel! It does all feel very scary - and as you say the loss of a credit rating. I spoke to someone at CCCS about a query and it upset me that I've never yet failed to make a minimum payment and now I'm going to be defaulting BIG TIME. But like you I'm proud to be facing up to my debt problems. And that's the important thing isn't it? Plus there is a lot of support on here, and that really helps. I've heard that Co-op are good. I didn't tell my new bank about the DMP, but they'll find out the direct debit is set up!!

I'm really sorry about your dog. It is really hard, a very painful thing to have to do even when a pet is really old.

I like the sound of the £2 club, what is it?

Good luck and keep posting! We're all in it together!

Hi Dolly, good luck with fighting those spending elves!! Hope that the MSE you wins. It's not easy is it?! The plain laptop case will still do a good job of looking after your laptop.

Let us know what you decide :-)

And I'm very sorry about your dog. Pets are such an important part of our lives aren't they. I do feel for you.

    Hi Missindependant,

I'm glad you've posted, welcome! There is a lot of support on here. I know what you mean about having buddies to chat to - I'd like that and have found lots of great people on here. If you have a specific question, it's always worth posting a new thread. Otheriwse it's good just to be able to chat to people who are in a similar situation. There are so many threads on here that it can be a bit confusing.

How are you doing with everything at the moment? It's a pretty stressful time isn't it?!
  • Hi, thanks for the Freecycle tip. I joined but sadly there isn't a vacuum cleaner available. I'll try to repair current one myself but if not will have to go with Argos one. It's less than half price anyway. On a positive, I thought I had my car insurance dd still to come out, so I've lived like a pauper all week on coppers. It had actually gone out 10 days ago. I've ended up finishing the month with £50 spare!! I really need to get a grip on when payments are due out!
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

    Hello Pink Angel,
So sorry about your little friend. it must have been a tough decision. My friend has hamsters and she loves them dearly. They are real characters.
I'm off for an interview tomorrow. Ok, it's not an ideal job, but I've a feeling I might get it. It's for a telesales company selling advertising for a new and up and coming tabloid.
I've also applied for about 6 other jobs too, so fingers crossed someone will take pity on me and give me a job.
I was also thinking about doing a CCS thingy, and I spoke to them the other day. The lady asked questions which I couldn't answer at the time like if my loans were secured on the house or not.
To be honest I don't want to do it jointly as we have finished paying for the house in 5 years and will be comfortable moneywise.
But it's my bank account which is the worser of the two and I have two loans in my name and one in hubbies. I pay for all of them and also a credit card.
When I rang, the operator said she wanted to know everything like council tax, electric amounts etc, but hubbie pays them and he doesn't have any spare money to put into my account to help me.
Can I not do a DMP on my own?
Also does anybody know if I go on one of these plans and I then get a decent paid job, can I come off it and start my loan payments as normal as I wouldn't want the debt going on for years.
    xx

Hey squirrel, hope you are doing ok? Just wanted to add to the above, that you can post a wanted item on freecycle. on our local one, people put these on and are inundated with with offers of items and often they get delivered direct to the recipient as well usually next day. What a wonderful set up this is. I know now where all the items we no longer need will go. just brilliant. Dolly x

Hi Squirrel, shame about the vacuum cleaner, but if you do have to get a new one at least the Argos one is half price! And freecycle is worth bearing in mind for things in the future. I bet you are breathing a sign of releif about having the £50 spare. I know that sinking feeling when you are trying to scrape by - at least yu don't have to do that now. I also know what you mean about getting a grip on knowing when payments are due out, I've not been as good as this I should have been in the past. I've been changing my direct debits over to my new bank account as they come out and I've now made a written list of the DD plus amount and date. In some ways I feel I'm finally being more organised about my finances that I ever have. Shame it's taken this mess to get me here, but better late than never!
