I've just started on a DMP too and after spending yesterday and today reading posts and challenges etc.. I'm changing my outlook completly. Before today i was down, stressed and ashamed just like you said Pink-Angel you were but after all I have read I am thinking that starting a DMP is a step closer to becoming DF and away of changing my spending habits so I NEVER get into debt again.

Thanks Lois for your post and all you shared, as well as the tips. You are so right about re-discovering the important things in life! I like the word 'dreditors' - feels appropriate, lol!
Mrs t-w, welcolme to the forum. I've been overwhelmed by the support on here. You are right that DMP is the first step toward become debt free. At least we have recognised the situation we are in and doing something postive about it. It's not a nice situation, but better than burying our heads in the sand. For too long I've been thinking things will get better, and they haven't. With the DMP I'm looking forward to being able to pay my bills. My new bank account will be the in black, which feels good to me. I'm not pretending the debts aren't there (they are huge!), but the money paid to CCCS for them distribute to my creditiors will be more affordable that what I have been paying. This will take a lot of pressure off me. I think there will be down days and on those days we'll have to look after ourselves - and each other.0 -
Pink Angel - there are down days, but they get less as time goes on and you get used to your new lifestyle

Many thanks for your thoughts Dolly. Yes I am feeling brighter today. I've been so touched by the support on these boards. Doesn't it restore your faith in people?!
How are you doing Dolly? Hope that you are ok.0 -
Just wanted to say hi too Pink Angel. I've worked most of the weekend for overtime to build up some reserves as I'll be chopping up my credit cards this week. Friday is the day I pull my salary out of old account (couldn't stop wages in time). Then my DMP can kick in. I'm so tired but like you said, can't wait to see my new account in credit. I'm going to set up virtual savings jars within my account and stick to Payplans budget to the letter.Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0

Pink-Angel. Just wanted to say hello and glad you are feeling a bit brighter today. You have done the right thing, addressing your situation - I think in the early days you just feel so overwhelmed - in a few days you will feel more positive and in control. Things will be tight for a while, and that in inself can sometimes feel like it's never going to end - but eventually as someone else said - you'll get addicted to this MSE lark.
My LBM was in April 2009 and I became debt free yesterday. Not a long slog but an intense one. Still can't quite believe it - but it is possible. Good luck xDF

Hi there, just wanted to say I am about to start a DMP with CCCS on the 1st of Feb and am in the middle of trying to change bank accounts, send template letters to my creditors, cancel direct debits, arrange for my wages to be sent as a cheque this month... i'm so stressed i just want it to be this time next month! Just keep having to remind myself that it will be so much better in the long run. Its really helping me to read everyones tips and advice as i've felt ashamed to talk to my friends about it and my family dont know. So thank you everyone
