Hi, how is everyone? I'm still around, I've been doing some overtime to earn extra cash. (Although not sure why I bother when the taxman takes most of it!?!)

Squirrel, how are you feeling now? Is the colitis any better? Hope you are ok. Did the phone calls stop?

The only creditor I haven't heard from now is MINT. Bizarrely, Lloyds refused to accept the reduced payments on my overdraft and CC because they say my account is in credit!?! Er, not really sure how they work that one out ... obviously as good an excuse as any I suppose to be as difficult as possible. Or perhaps I'm being cynical ;) But it doesn't matter as I know the payments will be sent anyway.

I haven't told anyone about the DMP, although some friends know I've been fidning things tough financially. Not sure how I feel about that!
  • Hi, yes the calls have stopped. Co-op bank wrote to say they had noted I do not wish to receive calls. My main problem now is Nationwide as Payplan have not told them I'm on a DMP until next week when my salary goes into new account hopefully. Payroll have informed me it's going into Lloyds but I need to know for sure! I retrieved the money from Nationwide manually last month!

I've still got £70 left until payday next Wed!! This month I've paid off my car insurance and a creditor that I didn't wish to put into the DMP. This is all from overtime. I've got approx £300 overtime to come this month and in March pay too, so it gives me a decent rainy day fund.

I had the urge to book Rihanna tickets and if I'd still got cc's and not been in a DMP I would have done so. Now, cos I've got to wait to payday and it'll eat into savings, the idea isn't so appealing! When it went on cc's, it wasn't 'real money'. I know think of all the nights and weekends I need to do overtime to spend on luxuries such as gigs.

I'm signed up for working Christmas day already. Nearly triple time for 12 hrs. Kerrrrrching!!

Colitis still bad, I was in hospital yesterday for tests to ascertain severity (horrid experience, I can barely sit down lol!) just got to bide my time until meds kick in.

At the moment I'm too self conscious and fatigued to go out, so that saves cash too! :T
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time
  • Squirrel, hope you manage to get the colitis under control soon, hugs

Sorry about the hospital experience Squirrel :( Hope the meds kick in soon so you will feel better. I'm sure that will make a big difference.

Sounds like you're doing well with rainy day fund, extra cash etc :THope everything goes ok with salary and Nationwide.

I know what you mean about CCs not feeling like 'real' money. If they were called debt cards instead of credit cards it might help to make people think twice. It madness because i have informed MBNA about the DMP, reduced payments etc, yet I've just received a letter from them offereing me a new CC. Something not quite right there in their comms dept!!

I'm too tired to go out at the moment, so I'm saving money too, which is great :)

Hope you have a good weekend x
  • Today is the day that my creditors will receive their first payment from CCCS on my DMP! Feels good to know that it is all up and running.

I'm expecting that I might hear more from creditors after this, as they've sent my monthly statements as usual requesting normal payment. Having seen the increase on my minimun payment from Virgin/MBNA has made me realise I was SOOOO right to set up a DMP. I've still not heard anything from MINT, other than the weird letter they sent asking for my signature (which I didnt return).

So far I haven't had any phone calls, but realise this may change.

I've just been paid and ended the month with a surplus to add to my 'rainy day fund' :T It feel weird not having access to instant 'money' with CCs and having to seriously consider my spending. But it feels healthier than how things were before, even though I miss not having to think about it. (Which is an illusion, as it's the spending which has created the debt problem!!)

This weekend I'm treating myself with a neck and shoulder massage at the college (mega cheap!!).

Hope eveyone is doing ok x :A
  • Hey good to hear from you Pink Angel, and well done on getting this all sorted out. Must be a huge relief?

Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your massage at the college, a lovely little and cheap treat for you after all your hard work.

  • Pink Angel glad to hear that you've made your first payment....wish i'd done this months if not years ago rather than burying my head in the sand...sucha relief isn't it knowing that you don't have to sit with endless bills and try and work out how you can pay an amount to each then realising you'll have no money again for food/petrol etc for the rest of the month...
  • Thanks for your posts Dolly and Secretshopper.

Hope you are doing ok Dolly? I would certainly recommend the college to anyone who is looking for a cheap hair cut or beuaty treatment. My massage yesterday was lovely and just what I needed - and for such a bargain price I didn't have any guilt about 'wasting money'. I think us DFWs still need to look after ourselves, and the odd treat does us the world of good.

Secretshopper, like you I wish I had done this sooner! It certainly does make a difference not having that horrible sinkking feeling that I'm going to run out of money for food because of paying my debts. It's great to see my bank account in credit and to have everything budgeted for. Obviously I know my debts are still there, but things feel so much better now!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
  • Morning Pink Angel

just having a catchup looks like a bit of a turn around and glad to see your feeling better massage sounds great will explore that one especially as DD is at the college also studying beauty, sorry it's been a while but not having much good news at the moment.
