  • Hi Pink Angel

Well done you on resisting those shoes, its so tempting, but like you I have resisted so far since the start of the year. Good luck in shredding those cards, not had the courage to do that yet, although just transferred mine over to 0%. You have inspired me, so maybe will follow your lead and do the same in the next couple of days, when I can build up the courage.

Glad to hear that things are moving forward for you. Look after yourself, take care Dolly x ;)

Well, so far I've heard about two of my debts (out of five). MBNA have frozen the interest on my credit card debt. Lloyds have accepted my reduced payments for 6 months (!) but will continue to charge interest. I'm still waiting to see what happens about the others. For now I'm sending copies of the letters I've received to CCCS to keep them updated.

In spite of the feeling of being in limbo, I do feel so much better now I'm doing something about my debts. This evening I'm going to shred my credit cards (scary being without one for the first time since I was 18!!). I'm very pleased with how I've had no problems so far sticking to my budget, and only spending money on esssentials. I haven't been in non-essential shop since the start of the year!! That's impressive for me. I did catch a glimpse of some nice shoes in the window of New Look and felt that rush of excitement, but I resisted and walked away! :T

Hope everyone is doing ok x

    Hiya hope your well,

know what you mean about the limbo feeling, I think after all the stress and "doing" of starting a DMP it makes it worse cos nothing really is happening and we're just not used to that, we're used to a constant round of juggling virtual money to manage each month! For me it just feel wierd to have a credit balance on my current account:) well done on walking away from the shoes that really takes courage :T so far its been easy for me I've done 2 wks of nights and working everyday this week so no chance of shopping apart from milk even if I wanted to, which unusually I don't.

You've inspired me to (think) about cutting up my cards theyre sat hidden in a draw, dont know why I havn't used any since december, I wont even use my new account card except for allowed cash!

    Well done you :T

  • Hi there,

Just wanted to welcome u, im new to this also. This will be my 1st month on DMP with CCCS. Im starting to sleep again now that I know I faced my problem. It's so strange, you really do change your ways, the way you think about money & what your spending it on, no more just putting it on a store card or credit card, If you dont have the money in your account - you cant have it. I do still worry about money, about the bills being a single parent, but im starting to budget now & I know that it'l take a bit of getting used to. When I do have money to spare, a treat really will be a treat, paid for there & then & i'l appreciate it more. I really really wish you all the best. Please keep in touch.
  • Morning All

I just wanted to tell you all that I have cut up all my credit cards and it felt amazing!

I kept a tiny little shard of each, I don't know why...

To Pink-Angel - well done on resisting the shoes! Have you thought about charity shops? I bought some new work shoes (never worn, sole bare and original tags attached) from F&F @ Tesco for £2.99 on Saturday! I couldn't believe it and they were leather...

You need to have an eye for a good bargain and stuff that is never worn with tags (if you're bother about that kind of thing) but you'll get some great things for a few pounds.

I treat myself but instead of spending £20 on A TOP I trawl charity shops and have a walk around before going back to buy something that i've seen (then there's no impulse just because it's cheap!)

Just thought I would share that with you all! x
  • Shoe Gal, Thanks for that re Lloyds. They have refused to accept the payment on my overdraft because the account is in credit!!! Er, except it's not, I'm just at my overdraft limit!!!

Well done to everyone thinking of cutting up credit cards (and to Miss I for doing it!!)! It felt strange cutting them up, but it was a good feeling. I remember hearing Martin describing credit cards as debt cards, and this is now I shall think of them. I should hopefully have some money to put in my 'Rainy day' savings account at the end of the month:)

Thanks for the tip about charity shops Miss I :) I agree, you can find some great items in them. I've got a personal challenge to see how far I go into the year without buying any clothes. Well, I might need tights etc, but I'm trying really hard to make do. Don't know how long it will last, but I shall do my best .....;)

    Hope eveyone is ok x
  • I'm going to dig my cards out in a bit and cut them up.. you've inspired me. I also feel uncomfortable at the limbo feeling. I'm so used to stressing over repayments and juggling money about, it feels I'm in the eye of the storm! Had coop starting the calls on my mobile again. Luckily I can't take my phone into work so I get a few hours of tranquility! I'm going to send the no calls letter tomorrow. They know this as it was on my token payment letter, but the clearly need a reminder.

I've been suffering terribly with colitis due to the stress and am scared I'll end up hospitalised and not able to manage my financial affairs. Fingers crossed I start to get better soon.
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

    Hi Squirrel,

It is uncomfortable being in limbo isn't it? Don't know about you but I'll be glad when I have heard about all my creditors. Sorry about the hassle from Co-op, yes do get a 'no calls' letter sent off. There are so many helpful people on this site who know about templates, it's a real Godsend. Hope they stop calling soon. Could you get your mobile number changed? They'll do it for you if you tell them you are having nuisance calls. It may depend on the network (and you wouldn't have to say who was hassling you).

I'm so sorry about your colitis Squirrel!! Is there anything your doctor can give you to help with symptoms? It would be awful if you ended up in hopsital, and really not what you need on top of everything else. But it's hard not to let stress get to you isn't it? You've got a lot of support on here though. Is there anything that you can do to help ease stress? Nice baths of anything like that?

    Do take care x
  • I've got some meds but they've not kicked in yet. I'm sure they will soon. I do feel less stressed now the DMP set up x

I am so inspired by the way you are handling all your problems, your inspiration will go a long way for the people on here.
I just wish i had CC's to cut up to make it all better but i have none, in debt, managing the monthly repayment (near 2 years now) but now have to find another home as the one i am in has become far to expensive for me to rent. i love my home!
After all this time i still wake everyday and wish it would all go away, I have no DFD as i have no idea what will happen to me in the future, i live only with my daughter who is not working.

I wish you so much peace with your future, thats the day i look forward too, the one where i am at peace
keep posting, its great to read

Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Hi Pink Angel and everyone, hope you're all ok?
I had a bit of a shock today... had recieved a letter from CCCS saying first payment would be coming out of my account on 1st March (prev had been 1st Feb but was a bit late sending all the paperwork back...ooopps!)
Imagine my surprise when i checked my account today and found i had less money than i thought.... CCCS took it out today!!! now i'm short because i'd factored that money into my budget!

When i got in i checked my paperwork and the DD form for the new account says 10th feb... but then why send me a letter after that saying 1st March... poo!
    xx
