  • I know how scary it can be with creditors. I used to avoid coming home from work so I didn't have to face the post.. and as to checking bank.. I get a churning tummy and nearly throw up. I imagine it'll take a while to get over this phobia!
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

I think you are right Squirrel. I had a letter when I got home today from my bank. (I've sent my template letters, not yet had letters from creditors though.) I felt sick and shaky but made myself open it. It's was just a circular in the end that wa probably sent a while ago. I am glad I'm dealing with my debts, but not particularly enjoying the fear factor at the moment.:(
  • We will probably have a rocky few weeks, but just think by the summer it should have settled down. Might actually even enjoy this year and even use a bit of my £35 a month entertainment/hobby budget allocation to sit in the garden with a cheeky glass of wine!

That's something to look forward Squirrel! Roll on the summer! It will be nice for things to be calmer. You never, if we are lucky we even get some sunshine too:)
  • I promise to not book any leave this summer... it's the kiss of death and wrecks the weather for all of us!

    Hi Pink Angel

    Maganan
    Honeybear
    and all others

Just wanted to say to all of you, think you are doing an amazing job, its really inspiring. Although I do not have a DMP, I know the fear and self loathing that comes with debt and the desperation to keep it private from all friends and family (and work).

Their are days where I have felt so desperate about my situation I have seriously considered ending it all. But i found MSE and DFW (I appreciate this sounds overly dramatic) but it is true. DFW is the only place I have felt safe enough to discuss with anyone, and through this it has enabled me to take some wobbly steps (admittedly) to start tackling my debts. I used to be paralysed by fear with anything to do with the bank or any of my creditors.

Keep going all of you, post like yours are an inspiration to others even at the most difficult times. Wishing you all a great day, with some small successes whatever they may be.

    Best wishes Dolly x

Thankyou Dolly it's very sweet to read this, hang on in there even if you only want to say somethink just to get it off your chest it's well worth it:A

Spending some more time price costing to try and get a reasonable cost in getting everything together have just had a quick look at the website design all I can say is wow, hope you have a good day.

  • I'm amazed at how having my LBM and realising that things couldn't continue as they are has already changed my thinking around money/spending dramatically. I haven't been in any shop other than when I have needed to buy essentials (like food). And I have no desire to go in shops either, not even to browse. There is no point - I don't need anything. It's great that I my thinking has changed. A shame that it wasn't sooner, but better than never. I've always been a shopaholic - buying things has made me feel better. But suddenly it's dawned me once and for all that buying things DOESN'T make a blind bit of difference to who I am as a person. This is a good thing. I'm determined to become - and STAY - debt free. And although the situation I am in financially is going to be pretty crap for some time yet, I'm grateful for having finally, finally learned a few home truths.
