  • I contacted sales online twice today via chat, this is the text:

You are now connected with Elaine.
Elaine: Hi there, my name is Elaine. I am part of the dedicated T-Mobile Online Sales Team. How can I help you with your new order?
    Elaine: Hi Steve
Steve: what is the FUP for Android phones on unlimited internet?
Elaine: You'll get Unlimited Browsing with 3GB download limit a month
Steve: ok thats great, and thats for the duration of the contract yes?
    Elaine: Yes, that's right
    Steve: excellent thank you.
Elaine: Steve, Is there anything else I can help you with?
    Steve: no thats fine thanks

    second time:

I asked what the FUP limits are

    Tina: 3gb per month
Steve: thats not too bad as many only alow 500MB FUP
    Tina: Yes
Steve: and thats for the term of the contract as of today 10/01/2011?
    Tina: Yes you are right

Took these both as screen grabs.

I have yet to recieve any texts but when I called them they said I would be effected. Does a text constitute written notice anyway? Seems this is being dealt with very badly, the website and current terms make no mention of this, only the text tells us where the information is about this. Very poor!

I am currently with T-mobile and I have the android FUL of 3GB, I have just started my 24 month contract!

I did a survey for T-mobile a month or two ago now and it was all about this allowance stuff and the terminology they were going to use in a possible re-format of internet packages.

I think they are rolling it out to mobile broadband packages too from the sort of questions in the survey.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm it seems my "web n walk plus" has been removed from the "my price plan section" of the tmobile website.

Is now says "capped data rate"

they've removed my 3gb web n walk plus without even texting me, with no notice!

    Mine has too, however if you look on 'My Bills' and 'Plan Summary', it shows the following;

    Your monthly plan charges
    300Mins&300Text(24)15 £12.77
    Unltd Lline Booster (FB) Free
    web'n'walk Plus (18) Free
    Monthly charge total £12.77

Clearly, this shows the web'n'walk Plus to be part of the contract.

You'd think that T-Mobile would learn a lesson from the Vodafone debacle a few months ago. But network providers seem to be experts in alienating their customers.

For a communications company, they clearly don't have very good systems for informing their sales staff. Here is part of my earlier chat transcript with a classic response in red!!

Elaine: We have the New LG Optimus One FREE from £15.32 a month on 24 month contract. You'll get 300 minutes + 300 text + Unlimited Internet + FREE Flexible Booster.
Elaine: You can choose one of the following Flexible Boosters to include in your package: Unlimited Texts; Unlimited Landline Talk; Unlimited T-Mobile Talk; Euro 5 Talk & Text; Europe & Australasia 5 Talk; USA & Canada 5 Talk
Nick: that sounds like a good deal, i want to go on the internet and watch videos
    Nick: like youtube
    Nick: is it really unlimited?
Nick: cos some say that but they arent
Elaine: With Internet, you'll get Unlimited Browsing with 3GB download limit a month
Nick: 3gb thats more than vodafone said
    Nick: and thats guaranteed?
Elaine: We offer 3GB for Android phones
Elaine: Would you be Interested to place this order?
Nick: thats not going to change because vodafone just changed their limit a few months ago
Nick: in the middle of the contract
Elaine: It's not changing with us
Elaine: Nick, you'll not have such issues with us
Nick: ok, let me have a think about it
Elaine: Is there anything else I can help you with today ?
    Nick: no, thanks

    truly shocking web chats there!!!

I really can't believe this 500mb for an android phone.

Everything which comes as standard on an android is soooooooooooo much more than text browsing.

Uploading pic to photobucket, sending attachments on gmail, sending a video to youtube/facebook, every menu is rich is sending video and pictures and watching video and streaming music.

Be interesting to see what Martin thinks of this!

I have a few numbers with T-Mobile at the moment. Have not had a single text yet.

me neither and i have 3 lines wth them
  • I have copied this from smartphonegurus
T-mobile define an "Additional Service" as something you can order at extra cost. The ground may look sticky for them as the bundled Internet Plus (3GB on android, 1GB on some others) cannot be ordered - its provisioned as part of the contract. You can cancel it (and they warn you of the dire charges if you do so) but you cannot buy it.

I dont see how T-Mobile have a leg to stand on now.

how do I find this on my plan, as it only states under Price Plan: Sim only 15 (12 months)

when I received my first bill it clearly mentioned Web'n'walk plus 18

I have recently signed up for the £10 sim only deal with unlimited internet as standard (not a booster)

    Thanks

I've not yet had a text or anything from T-Mobile, I've got the 3GB fair usage with my Desire. Checked online and it says the following.

    600Mins&500Text(24)25 £21.28
    Family Booster Free
    Internet Booster (FB) Free
    Monthly charge total £21.28
What is pi? Where did it come from?
