Hi all
My disgusting tonsilitis-flu hybrid is much worse, I'm just on my laptop in bed to keep me awake long enough to see if the salt water/ibuprofen/paracetamol helps and decide what to do today.
I wish I could lie in bed for a day but this is the worst week! I have an assignment in thursday(meant to work on it with friend y'day but was ill so moved to today...), exam on friday and 2x4 hour revision lectures at uni for my later exams.
I usually ignore being ill, but I cannot ignore a chesty cough coupled with swollen tonsils/glands- so painful
Got a call from Mum last night saying dad seems to have shingles, so he will probably be in hospital by the end of the day as he has no spleen
Hope everyone's alive and kicking and bramble has a good day at work!!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone
Good luck to the Halight twins, today, and Bramble. Hope the day goes well for all!
Hester - you definitely need to kick some a*** at work. Sounds like they are really taking advantage of you there.
Well, my BIL, having been told by the doctors weeks ago that putting in a second stent so that the jaundice levels can clear more quickly would be risky (they can't start the chemo until the jaundice has all gone), he and my sister have begged them to do it, said that the risk is better than just sitting around waiting for the worst, and said that they would sign anything and, at last, the doctors have agreed and he goes back into hospital on Wednesday to have it done. To have achieved this is more than my sister and BIL even dreamed of; although there IS a risk, they are happy that the operation will now go ahead and they sound happier and more positive than they have for weeks and weeks. All we can do now is pray, and we are certainly doing that.
The news has cheered us all up; it's only now that I realise how this awful worry is affecting us all. Life can be a real b***h sometime, can't it?
OS-wise, when I can think straight, not much is going on because I am helping DH to plaster the hall, so it's not worth doing much about the dust (well, that's my excuse!). I can't avoid cooking, though, and tonight we are having risotto, like some of you are. At least it's something that doesn't need too much concentration.
We woke up to a very heavy frost this morning, but the sun has come out and it's really warming everything up. There are no clouds in the sky, either, so it's all looking very bright for a change.
Anyway, off to do something constructive.

Hope everyones day is going well.DDog kept wuffing to go out,I thnk it was about 4.30,told him to lie down(it works sometimes)but he was still mooching about 15 minutes later,so I went down.He had a quick wee,but went up to the gate, and was sniffing around like mad when he suddenly let out what we call his hound bark, throws his head back and let rip, rushed to quieten him when a man hurried across the grass on the front.Frightened me to death, but at least I can say there was someone hanging around if the neighbours complain. And it wasnt the milkman
.
RR- another one starting lcarbing todayso bacon and eggs for brekkie.
I'm using some bits from the freezer for tea,so I'll have salmon, the men having diced turkey in some form. The slow cooked beef was lovely last night,& I used up a grotty cabbage that I'd had in the fridge for ages, stir fried with leeks.I've still a red cabbage to use too.
Right better carry on with my jobs, bye for now.x

Adelight - I feel your pain. My glands are up and down at the moment. I find ibuprophen and Vicks vapour rub help. Along with steaming. Hope you're feeling better soon x
mioliere - good news re your BIL. Crossing everything that it works xx
blondy - welcome
DD did really well at pre school. Came out all smiles and gave me a big hug. Such a change to DS who hated going and took a long time to settle there.
Chicken and chorizo stew for tea. Cooking a mahoosive chicken at the moment that I will pull apart later. Going to look at some of the Jamie Oliver 30 min recipes, watch it the other day and it looked yummy.
No housework yet so need to get my butt into gear.

Hi all,
I'm just having a break from the kids bedrooms- you wouldn't believe the state. Have oodles of washing so will have to use TD. I'm really tired and grouchy too. Using up yesterdays beef for dinner prob in gravy.
Best wishes to all those that need- i'm forgetting what i have read.
Halight- a tip, make sure the twins are tidy- i have 4 beasts from age 10-20 and i think they are beyond being tidy!
Oh i have managed to get myself roped into a bank review- why i don't know, might have to cancel.
Have a good day0
