Hi everyone, havent been on in ages, life is manic!!!
Not too much to report to be honest. Have been dress shopping once in leicester, first shop was awful, the woman followed me around like i was gonna nick the dresses, has she seen the size of them i mean like where the heck was i supposed to hide em and walk out lol!! Second shop was AMAZING, tried on about 20 dresses loads of different styles and the woman there was just fab, picked some out going on what i said i liked and disliked and i think i have found THE dress, although need to try a few more on in the same sort of style before i part with my cash, as it is double what i had budjeted for and seem unable to find it anywhere else any cheaper at mo
Been looking into suit hire with OH but all so expensive so nothing firmed up there yet....
Started making my favours will post some pics once i have one at the finished stage, doing them bit my bit, still need to get some pinkingshires!!!
Bought card for my invites and we have semi decided on how they are going to look although have not fully made one yet!! Think im gonna use vista print for save the dates or may just print onto card myself, not sure, dont want it to look naf!
Were getting there but there seems so much to sort. How expensive are flowers!!!!0 -
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to join the thread (and say hello to my date twins!). We are getting married on 26th May 2012 in Merseyside.
So far we have:
Booked the church
Booked the reception
Booked the photographer
Started the heavy-duty saving money schedule!
Started collecting bowls for the sweetie buffet
I have also started adding to my brooch collection as I intend to make brooch bouquets, and have folded approximately 250 of the 1000 origami paper cranes I want to decorate the venue with.

Hi everyone
Been reading through all your plans and seems you've all been busy. Looking forward to hearing more as the next 11 months progresses.
We're planning to get married on May 4th, although we're not technically engaged yet! He has asked me to wear his grandma's ring, which I do, but wants to buy me an engagement ring and do the formal proposal thing. The sensible part of me isn't bothered about any of that, but the little princess inside is secretly quite excited about it!
However, having said that, he works away and has asked me to plan the wedding, agreed to the date and has been to look at venues etc, which is all a bit backwards! He'll be home in 3 weeks and after earning some bonus should have the ring he wants and be able to do the proposal thing. Weird planning a wedding to which I haven't been invited yet!!
We're limited on budget, so looking for something amazing for next to nothing (isn't everyone?) without it looking too cheap. And I've just moved to Newcastle to be nearer his family, so doing everything a bit blind as don't know what/where's good. Learning my way around pretty quick though!
He hates the idea of a formal 3 course meal and I resent paying £30 head for a roast dinner, so we're looking a bit more informal, but better than sandwiches and sausage rolls. Will work it all out in the end!
Going to the registry office (unless we have a windfall because I'd book the lighthouse) and then top 2 venues at the moment are a boat and a football club, need to make a final decision when he's back.
Will do everything I can myself-invitations, favours, cake, flowers-even considering doing the buffet and decorations.
Bridesmaids upto now are just our children (15, 13 and 5) so will be going high street I think-might attempt them to, but the price of material and time could probably get cheaper from BHS or somewhere. Debating asking my sister to be MOH, but depends on how the budget pans out, as may then be obliged to ask his sister too. If not, will definitely ask my sister to be my witness.
OH is desperate for a new suit as his is 10 yrs old and doesn't fit! No point thinking about tails etc as he'd refuse point blank, so will be looking for a nice smart suit on the high street and doing my best to persuade him into a coloured tie to complement whatever colour theme we come up with. And our son (3) will just need trousers and and a shirt so M&S or Next will be fine.
Writing it down like that, seems like everything is coming together and OH being away means I can browse wedding sites all evening without feeling guilty!Married the man of my dreams May 4th 2012

I really can't wait until May next year. I just booked my honeymoon in the Dominican Republic and I want to go now

Where to start?!
I've changed venue since last posting. Long story short, wedding coordinator at venue parted company with venue and it was then discovered she'd been mis-selling the packages. When it was uncovered the proprietor offered to honour what had been promised after some arguing but we decided to cancel since the trust was lost and I didn't want to spend a year stressing about it.
We found another venue and have now re-booked. Dress is ordered, photographer is booked, wedding rings are ordered. We booked the honeymoon a fortnight ago.
We are now trying to work out what to do for evening entertainment.
Save the dates have been ordered from vistaprint so will be sent as soon as they arrive.
Exciting!0
