Little rant from me...
I'm losing my patience with Kent County Council. I keep calling them to pay my £50 deposit which is now overdue. The reason it is overdue is because every time I call I get told that the line is busy and that they will call me back. I have emailed them also and had no response. I've tried calling at various different times of day and still get the "I'm sorry the Ashford Ceremonies team is not answering their line at the moment".
Argh!0 -

Hey
Thats just stupid. I take it they are not trying to charge you extra as a result of it being overdue!
is there another line/number you can call? maybe its a fault with their phones. Possibly they may not be aware of the issue.
Its tommorrow you go trying dresses isn't it? So excited for you. Do let me know how you get on.
Am feeling rather deflated at the mo... Not necessarily with weddings, but life in general which is then rubbing off onto weddings. Need a kick to get me motivated again.0 -

They're not trying to charge extra- just their letter states that they will cancel the booking if they do not receive the £50 within the 14 day period.
I tried again after I posted that and again got the "I'm sorry we can't put you through to Ashford ceremonies" and I made a bit of a point of saying that I've been trying so often, left loads of messages and even emailed them and all she said was that they are very busy this week and that I don't need to keep phoning; they'll definitely call me back when they get around to me!! I don't live near enough to any of the offices to be able to justify the trip there in the car to pay in person so will just have to sit tight and hope that they ring me back.
I changed the date of my dress fitting and now am going on Friday- got the first one at 10:30am near my house and then another one at 2pm in New Eltham. My MOH managed to get the day off work so we are making a day of it. I'm now really looking forward to it!!
Sorry to hear you're feeling deflated. It's quite hard to be cheerful at the moment when it's been grey outside for a week with no sunshine!!0 -

If you're in Kent, I'd recommend Belle'amore in Bexleyheath. The staff in there have been really friendly and attentive every time I've been inDon't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -

Thanks very much, I will have a look. Got loads of time to shop around, as long as I don't fall in love with the first one I try on!!0 -

Even if you do fall in love with the first one, keep looking. I almost bought the first dress I tried on in early 2010, but found one I loved even more last July (ish) in a sample sale. I can't imagine wearing the original dress now.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -

Have my fingers crossed they will ring you back!!
You should have great fun on Friday... really make a day of it with your MOH. Enjoy and relax. It will be brilliant. So excited for you.
I must syop feeling sorry for myself... just lots of rubbish things going on at the mo and not enough hours of the day to sort them out!But enough of all that I have wedding planning to do!:) And a diet to keep on with if i want to look stunning in my dress!! Maybe a session at least a looking session in a shop at dresses might cheer me up and motivate me
Its great looking at on web sites, but just not teh same as being in a shop.
I have just had a look at the Ian Staurt web site - some stunning dresses on there!!0 -

Good advice... though in my case I might never commit! Too indecisive for my own good!! :rotfl:0 -
hi me and my oh will also be getting married in may 2012
and have booked our local church for 26th may,
we have set a budget of 3000 but i hope to do it for 2000, as
i would rather spend money on doing up our house that we bought
at christmas,
we are planning on marrying at the local church and then having a reception at my
parents farm, with a sit down buffet done by ourselves . my parents rear beef and turkey so
we will get these at cost price and same with ham from my dads friend, we then just plan on
different breads a few salads cheese and chutney board etc
desserts we are going to make up a fresh fruit salad and also as my partener works in catering
hes able to get some premade gateaus at cost. i have decided on a wedding cake from either asda or
tesco , both sell 3 different sizes so you can make a 3 tier cake, i will then just add ribbon around
each one to match our colour scheme. invites i plan on making my self, we hope to have a disco and pie and peas supper for the evening
i have seen lovely bridesmaid dresses for 40 pound on both ebay and sexyher .com and there is lots of nice wedding dresses for around 100 pounds on there. the marquees we are having the reception in will be borrowed from my dads friend and we are also able to hire tables and chairs at a very good rate. transport again will be about knowing the right people ( my dad has a friend with a horse and cart as well as one with a bently) i plan to decorate the marquee with hearts hanging from the roof supports as well as fairy lights in the roof area.0
