  • Hiya,

thought that I would pop in to say hello. I get wed on the 5th May 2012 and am trying to be as organised as possible. Wanting to keep the budget as low as possible but still get what we want if you know what I mean. The majority of our budget (I hope) will be going on the honeymoon, want to make it one of those 'once in a lifetime' things, so its taking up almost 50% of our total budget lol

So sorry to hear about your nan, hope she is OK and that the docs find out what the issue is and put it right.

You sound really organised, I thought I was the only one who has so much stuff already sorted, its a relief to realise that isn't the case!

Welcome!! No such thing as too organised I have decided lol
Alot of people invited did say last year ohhh whens the wedding and when i said the date you could see they were thinking wow thats ages away BUT people in the industry and alot of them have said to its much better to get it all done early as it is less stressful. My wedding buddy is getting wed july 2012 and another friend is august 2012 and we're all on the same planning wise path i think. plus my friend whos july went to book the makeup lady im having to be told her date was taken and had been for 6 momths already!!! so there are people more organised lol people are booking quickly now so im thankful we started.
im dreding the registrars though i get really anxious about us only been able to get a really earlylate time am i the only one who worries??

What have you got left to do? Im glad theres more May brides :)

Thanks also for the messages about my other nan no results yet but keeping all crossed x

  • I have booked the big stuff so far...photographer, venue, band, piper, cars and registrar. We got a 2pm booking so totally perfect for what we wanted and ties in nicely with the evening meal!
Also have received the card blanks and decoartions for the invites, which is sooooo much cheaper than buying ready made ones. I only paid £80 in total for 150 invites and thank you's. Pretty pleased with that!

I have also made the activity books for the kids at the service and meal and bought the favours for them, which is little toys, yoyos, puzzle books, crayons and stuff like that. I have paid about £3 per child (based on £15 kids) so well under my budget of £10 per person.
Not sure what do do for the grown ups, I keep changing my mind lol.

Dress wise, I am actually getting mine in march, have already pretty much decided on one that I absolutely love! I was a bit wary of buying it so early. but I have already lost the weight I want to for the wedding and am extremely confident that I won't be gaining it back. Now I'm worrying that I end up pregnant or somehing which a corset dress will not suit at all lol

Oooooh I am so glad that there are lots of us well prepared brides on the go, it will be so much less stressful those last few weeks since we will know that it is all sorted!

I too am doing bags like that for kiddies and have sorted all them i want them to be occupied and not bored especiall with my 2 i know how frustrating it is for parents trying to keep them busy and sat still but give them soemthing new and i can get them to sit for at least an hour lol

I have finished my lady and gents favours too gents are getting a tux box with a mini aftershave, choc and a surprise something in and ladie have a pamper bag full of minis -nail polish bath stuff hair stuff face masks hot choc choc nail files perfumes that sort of stuff, I wanted something different so im happy with these but i cant stop looking at makeup even though the bags are full lol

just trying to sort my flowers this week was doing my own but the price has gone up 60p per stem so think im buying them now! typical byut one less thing. waiting for oh to re download office so i can start playing with the stationary im doing all that but i love that used to do invites so not too stressed about that. going to gfet the std's out soon! exciting. also trying to finish centrepieces off this month im having something different on each table but its a theme but its becoming a bit of a pain after getting the easy ones out the way!!

Ha ha yes we are :)

Well this thread has inspired me already to get things moving so just phoned the registrar. They have given me the option of 12pm, 2pm or 4pm so just have to decide between 12 and 2.

Cost is currently £345 for weddings until March 2012. She told me I would have to pay what ever it goes up to after March :(

Now to sort out the photographer :j

    I am getting married on 7th May 2012 :D.

I chose a bank holiday Monday as it still classed as mid-week and I got 20% off. :D

I had decided to do nothing after booking the venue until there was just a year to go but after reading the forums about how long wedding dresses take, maybe I should start looking soon as I am useless at clothes shopping.

Oh can anyone recommend me a shoe shop that will do wedding shoes in wide fit as I can't fit into anything other than ugly shoes from a certain high street shop.

Yay someone else getting married on 12th May! Welcome to the thread. You and I are sort of at the same place- booked venue and ceremony, asked bridesmaids but that's it.
