We're getting married in Kent.
We're failing miserably to come up with a colour scheme!!
I booked an appointment today to try on some dresses. Am quite excited about it although feel totally awkward...
We are saving like mad for the wedding, although I am more concerned about being able to afford a great honeymoon...!0 -
Let us know how the dress session goes. Sure it will be fine.
Also which shop(s) are you going to?
Am also in Kent and need some inspiration.0 -

I'm not really a clothes shopping type- I tend to just buy variations on a theme and I never ever try stuff on in front of people.
I have booked my nearest shop first which is Heading Up the Aisle in Chislehurst. They seemed really friendly.
Whereabouts are you based?0 -

I'm sure it will be fine. Are you taking someone with you? Do have any ideas of styles you want to try or even a dress you've fallen in love with?
I am so excited for you. bet it will be amazing.
I really want to go and look at dresses, but need to shift the weight first. Diet did not go well yesterday as ended up having a couple of glasses of wine which led to me nibbling on crisps. think I might need to cut out the old alcohol.
I'm based in Sittingbourne - only two bridal shops there and they aren't great. So think I'll be venturing further a field - when I get started on looking.0 -

I'm going to go on my own since it's the first appointment and I want to get ideas without my mum/sister telling me what to try on!! I've got no idea whether it's a good shop or not but it's a starting place. I am terrified to tell you the truth.
I would like something like this http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=R1085 although my other half wants me to have some sort of full princess dress.
How much weight are you looking to lose? Yesterday was Valentines Day so you're entitled to a glass of wine or two!!0 -

Don't be terrified as you say its a start. It will be great! I am so excited for you.
That dress is stunning - absolutely love the back detail. Gorgeous!! Maybe you need to try a mix of all different styles i.e. princessy ones and slim fitted. I think (well am hoping) that like people say you know when its the one!
Yes temptation was too much yesterday!! But as you say it was valentines. Have been quite good so far today, but will see what the other half wants to do when I get back from work. So easily lead :rotfl:
In the ideal world I would like to get back down to about 8 stone. But that would mean losing about 3.5 stone. Wedding is not till August 2012 (umm not sure how I ended up on this thread).... but guess will have to sort dress well in advance of that. So must get myself into gear. Maybe I should have a look at some dresses to motivate myself.0 -
Went and checked out the church hall which will be our reception venue tonight and OH loved it
only downside now is i need to call the very rude patronising woman who deals with the bookings, anyone would have thought i was asking for her kidney rather than to have a look the other day!!!
Next job, firm up photographer....got a course mate from uni offering me a good deal so will prob be going with that, his was bloody good on our course all those yrs ago and his website says he is as good as i remember!!!
Need to start thinking about save the dates and other stationary tempted by vistaprint but also would like to make myself....dont know whats best??? Hmmmm0 -

Thanks- it's a beautiful dress, just hope that there are similar ones available as I imagine I wouldn't be able to afford that dress?!! I am going to try on a variety of styles as you say just so I have a good idea of what they all look like and so I don't buy one and then realise I completely missed something else out! Got loads of time though.
You have plenty of time to lose the weight before August 2012- at least you've got a good motivator to help you focus on doing it!! What style of dress are you keen on?0 -

Glad your OH loved the church hall! I don't understand why people act like that with venue bookings! One of the venues I wanted to visit didn't reply to my emails or phone calls for over a month and when I finally got a reply it was quite snotty! I think some venues forget that they need bookings to stay in business!!
I think I am going to do Save the Dates with Vistaprint and try and do the invites handmade. I've never been creative though so we shall see how that goes!!0
