  • well, I have managed to score some things of my list! I've finished sending out invites (OH still has some addresses to get, and if he doesn't then those people just won't be invited!!). We've only had a handful for RSVPs back though, about 5 out of 55!! I know more people are coming, as they've booked rooms at the hotel, but please can you just send me back your RSVP cards!

Have also found cake toppers and cake boxes, these just need to be purchased from ebay. Need OH to decide when we are visiting his folks to get his birth certificate. On one hand, not looking forward to a trip to the in-laws (always stressful), but when we are away we will get our wedding rings as they live near to our nearest Goldsmiths, and I have over £100 of tesco clubcard vouchers to use there! :j So every cloud has a silver lining I suppose!

Still not heard from the lady doing our alterations which is stressing me a bit now! Have lost her phone number and she's not answering emails. I might pop by this afternoon as her workshop is only about 15 mins away.

I've ordered wee bracelets for my flower girls as well, a friend of mine on Facebook makes cool jewellery pieces. So getting them bracelets with their names and the date of the wedding. Very MSE as they are only £10 for both! Going to give OH and best man engraved hip flasks and the dads engraved tankards as thank you presents (they're more beer drinks!), so going into town later to see if they are cheaper there or ordering on ebay. Also found lovely engraved vases on ebay for the mums as well. So just need to find presents for my bridesmaids now - these will probably be engraved pocket mirrors. Will also try and get a mount and frame for our signing picture too.

Didn't get the job I was interviewed for last week :( but I have another interview this afternoon, so fingers crossed!! Kinda nervous as it's a management post in retail, and I haven't worked in retail for about 5/6 years and always at supervisory level - so this will be a BIG change!!
  • Well, I've had a very productive day - two interviews today, and got offered the post in both!! Wedding planning is now back on track, and can spend my redundancy money on a lovely honeymoon somewhere, to chill out and relax after the past few months!!:j:j:j

Still at work and don't have time for a proper reply, other than to say:

    Well done bride2be!! Fantastic news!
  • yay b2b :T
when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it :o
  • thanks guys!

Not done much celebrating (apart from a yummy chinese for tea!), as I've had a blinding headache since I came back from my 2nd interview and OH had a rubbish day at work too, so we've not really been in the mood! Roll on the weekend though, and shopping for our wedding rings!!

Oooooh B2B - lots & lots of congratulations! :j  Clearly job offers are like buses - two at once?!! That's just greedy! :rotfl:

Thanks for all your support and well wishes. Having to cancel OH's grandad's room reservation and buttonhole for the wedding was horrible, and I haven't the heart to remove his name and menu choices off my planning paperwork. Both OH & I had a cry last night - I think it's just starting to sink in for us that he's gone. The funeral is on Friday so we're focusing on getting through that. But I feel a bit like I'm losing the plot, trying to cope with my own grief while supporting OH, and on top of that, work is full of end of financial year stress, and I just don't feel like I have time to breathe.

I did go ahead with my hair trial last weekend though, which went really well. I've known my hairdresser for years so I'm having to trek to the salon the morning of the wedding, but I don't trust anyone else to do it for me! And I bought my earrings so my outfit is now all complete. :)

My first dress fitting is on Monday which I should be excited about - but I'm actually really scared . It's been about 7 months since I last saw it & I'm anxious that I won't still love it. I'm annoyed with myself, as I wanted to be really excited! I keep watching 'Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' and worrying that my dress is that big. It's not - but as I can't remember it properly, I'm convincing myself I've bought a dress that's totally OTT & I'll look like a gypsy clone! :o I will remember to get some pics of me in the dress this time though so I can share it with you all.

Apart from that, we've chased remaining RSVPs so hoping for them all in by the end of the week, I still need to make up the favour boxes, and print off copies of the Order of Service. There isn't a huge amount left to do, I just keep getting a nagging feeling that I'm missing something. I think I'm probably too used to having my mind occupied with wedding stuff!
  • 2 months today!!

Hope everything went well on Friday Cleverclogs, or as well as it could under the circumstances. And I'm sure your dress fitting will go perfectly today and you will fall in love with your dress all over again!

We,, we finally got around to ordering our rings on Saturday!! I was sure I wanted a bit of bling on mine, but nothing with any sparkle suited my engagement ring, so have gone for a plain white gold band. OH is having a titanium band. Should be arriving in the shop at the end of April.

Have another dress fitting in 2 weeks, and I'm panicing slightly as I've put on so much weight since last time! I've been so stressed with the job situation I've been stuffing my face with chocolate all the time. But now that's sorted, I'm back to fruit and yoghurts!! And managed 10 minutes of hula-hoop before work this morning, so hoping that'll help flatten my stomach lol!

Bridesmaids are stressing me out though, they are supposed to be organising hair and make up trials (they offered) and haven't bothered, and for whatever reason aren't speaking to each other about it. I don't have time to be trying to sort it just now, so have just sent them an e-mail saying SORT IT!!

Apart from that, everything is going well I think! Going to see our campervan this weekend (need to settle the bill ) and hopefully book our honeymoon too!:D

YAY! 2 months to go for us too!!! :j
Thanks Bride2Be - Friday was horrible. However, as awful as it was at the time, I know I feel a bit more at peace, now I have said goodbye. There will be times in the lead up to the wedding, on the day, and beyond, where it'll be really difficult, and it has been a horrible couple of weeks, but it helps having the wedding to focus on.

We had our first marriage preparation lesson at the church last week. I thought it was going to be a 1:1 between us and the vicar, so I took along my big wedding folder, with the ceremony planner I'd completed on the yourchurch website, as well as my draft Order of Service. So we went along and I was all prepared, and then it turned out it was in fact a group session. So I was sat in front of 6 other couples clutching my huge folder, looking like a total geek, with all the other grooms looking at my OH, feeling very glad their B2Bs weren't so ridiculously organised. When the vicar asked if anyone had been on the website to look through the ceremony planner, I think my OH wanted the ground to swallow him up, as I started going through my folder so I could proudly produce my printout!!!

Admittedly, it is always rather embarrassing when other people see how much of a Monica I really am(!), but the control freak in me has paid off, and there is actually very little that needs to be done now. I'm feeling quite relaxed. There are some stragglers who still haven't RSVP'ed so I can't make up the favours and print off name tags just yet. I've designed our Order of Service but I can't print them off yet as I need the vicar to check the final draft. And it really is just the final balances that need paying. The large cheques that I will soon be writing out makes me feel a bit sick!_pale_

Anyway, I will soon be heading off to the bridal shop to try on my dress. And happily I am now feeling quite excited!!! :)
  • Oh exciting stuff seeing your dress again! I never had that excitement as I bought mine from ebay, so it only took about 3 days to arrive and it's been at my mum and dad's since then, so could take a peek or try it on whenever I liked! It's been at the seamstress who's doing the alterations for what feels like ages now, but will prob only be about 6 weeks by the time I go back for my second fitting!

However, I do have my lovely wedding shoes on just now!! need to break them in and finished work early and OH won't be in for at least an hour, so as long as the dog keeps away from me I'll be fine! (dog is a black lab who is currently casting his winter coat. not good for ivory shoes!).

Unexpected day of tomorrow! This is my last week in my old job, and there's not a lot to be done - we stopped trading last week ready for winding up at the end of the month, so I really don't have a lot of work to be doing. Result! Planning on going swimming then might get my hair cut before my leaving do on Friday!

Saturday is the last day for our RSVP's, and I've probably only had about half back. OHs family bugging me with it, saw two lots of them at the weekend and they never even mentioned it. I know they are coming as they have hotel rooms booked, but I don't know how many kids meals they both need, or high chairs, and I know one of OH's nieces has food allergies too (though she is almost 16, so will prob have a better idea of what she can/can't have than her dad lol, so might just send her a message on Facebook)!

Eeeeek! Well my dress fitting went well and I got VERY excited at seeing it again! And I really needed a bit of a pick me up so I am massively cheered now. I thought I'd share a pic - just because I am so excited and I can't show OH (who is looking slightly bemused by all my bouncing around!) :)
