  • I really shouldn't be on here, but taking a quick break from sticking invitations in envelopes! Want to get them posted today, and heading into town in an hour or so, so need them done lol!

Hope your dress fitting goes well stationary ace! My shoes have arrived into the shop, so me and my bridesmaid are going to go and pick them up this afternoon while we're in town.

Next on to do list: Confirm with bridesmaid what reading she is doing so it can go in the Order of The Day. Then have to make said Order of The Day!
Order Thank You presents for our parents, best man and bridesmaids.
Sort out someone to look after our dog on the day/evening of the wedding. He doesn't like kennels, and everyone I trust who would normally have him, will be at the wedding!

Right, really must finish these invites! I'd better get some RSVP's next week lol (given them til 31st March), or I will be grumpy!!

Sounds like everyone is having a busy weekend!

Stationaryace, did you get the invites done? People will start RSVPing as soon as they get the invite, we are getting about 3 per day, which is exciting. Noone has declined the RSVP yet, looks like the wedding budget will all get spent! I'm still waiting for OH to admit the church class was useful...

So, I went to the bridal shop today. The remembered my name without having to prompt them so that was nice. Nipped down to see not-my dress, feel a lot happier now I remember it! Looks like my dress will be in in the next week so I'm very excited now. Will be great to see the whole outfit together!

Also bought some card for the order of services, a1 paper for the seating plan and paint for my wooden dolls (thanks again Cleverclogs!).

    This weeks jobs are:
Do the last 30 paper cranes (one days these things will actually get finished!)
Fold and stamp the covers for the order of service (might have a think about hymns, but OH is never impressed with me signing them round the house!)
Find example hairstyles for hair trial next Sunday

    Xxx
  • our invites were posted at the start of the month with the RSVP date being this wednesday (phase 1 and 2 were sent out one week apart in the end). waiting for all the replies before the final lot of invites are sent, but we are getting 3 a week if we're lucky!

what type of flowers is everyone going for? having our wedding at the start of May (69 days away!) there isn't much in season and with my colour scheme being "bright" I have no idea where to start. have found a florist already (colleague of my aunty 200 miles away) but need to decide-ish what I'm looking for next weekend. this really is an I task, OH has openly said he doesn't care about flowers or readings or hymns. I'm not especially interested in flowers either (not at the moment anyhow) but someone has to pick them...

my folks and sister are back from a fortnight away so we are regrouping at my folks next weekend to jump back into wedding stuff. lousy timing from my point of view because I had to get OH to take my measurements this week  he didn't understand the fuss but I hated it - there really are NO secrets now!
when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it :o
  • Oooh it looks like everyone has been really busy! We had a very busy four days. No chance of actually relaxing while we had a couple of days off work :(. Bring on June. Maybe then I'll have some time to chill out! But our invites are finished and posted - yay :j. It took much longer than I anticipated to assemble them all but thankfully they are all out now. And here they are...!

Good luck with seeing your dress stationaryace. I hope it's everything you wanted! I had no idea about flowers and OH was like yours, he wanted nothing to do with it, so I went to my florist, said I wanted something white & green that (and I quote) 'looked kind of messy with lots of greenery and sticky-out bits...' I think they know what I envisage in my head and I'm sure they'll do a great job, with not much to go on! I'm having avalanche roses, freesia, white lissianthus, eucalyptus foliage and some green berries (can't remember what they're called!) with a couple of white orchids in my bouquet.

Good luck with finishing the paper cranes Clairus. They have been around for a while!

    How were your shoes Bride2be?
  • Hi all!

Well, the invites still aren't sent. I need 5 address from OH for people on his side of the family, and he hasn't given them to me yet. All the rest are sitting in a box in the living room, addressed with stamps on, ready to go! I'm quite tempted to send them, and when the phone calls starts from MIL2B about why 'so-and-so' hasn't got their invite yet, he can explain why! I've done enough chasing up of things, all I need him to do is phone 5 people to confirm their address, and it's still not done . (it's not even 5 phone calls, 3 of them are for his cousin's (siblings) so he could prob get all 3 of just one of them!)

My shoes are fab!! I'm supposed to be working from home today so had planned on wearing them about the house to break them in. But my broadband is broken and BT say it won't be fixed until this evening, so had to come into the office :(

And we have set a date for my hen night finally (been a lot of drama there!), and have had 2 definates and 1 maybe so far - and I only emailed everyone this morning, so that's cheered me up a bit!

    Cleverclogs, your invites are gorgeous!
B2b, we sent our invites out 2 weeks ago, there is still one in the box with a stamp and no address (one of his friends), think it may be there til May! (Although there are a few for my work people in the box too, just because I for some reason feel daft giving them out with three months to go!)

So as promised, I have done some of my jobs...

http://flic.kr/p/bmdNkb actually a reLly bad photo, OHs glasses are not like that or wonky usually...

http://flic.kr/p/bz8DDv that is what 1000 paper cranes looks like...
  • agh, so much for the hen night drama's being over!! Just found out my sister (one of my bridesmaids) has invited two of her friends, to my hen night!! I hardly know the girls (one is my hair dresser, and is doing our wedding hair), the other I've met all of twice, for about 2 minutes each time. Not amused, at all!! All that'll happen is the 3 of them sit and get drunk and not speak to anyone else all night...grrrr!!
  • I love your cake topper Clairus - it looks great! And well done on finally finishing the paper cranes. I bet that felt good!

My sister (& MOH) has done the same thing to me B2B, and she's invited one of her mates along to the hen do - who I've only met a couple of times. It's even more difficult as I have had nothing to do with organising it (I delegated to said sister & 2 of my best friends) so while I know that things have been booked, I can't say whether her adding her friend has caused any problems with deposits etc. I'm starting to regret not being more involved in the hen do as I think there may be some underlying tension developing between my friends and my sister. No-one has actually said anything to me so there's nothing for me to try and sort out - it's just a feeling I have! Oh well, I probably have enough to stress about, without losing sleep over that as well!

How's everyone else getting on this week?

I know some guests have received our invites so I'm waiting for my RSVPs to come flooding in. And the card has arrived for my evening invites so I'll be making them up at some point this week. And we've got our menu tasting at our reception venue this Sunday, so looking forward to that. I love a free meal! :)
  • Lol Cleverclogs, I think we are having the same wedding! I too have left it to my sister and best friend (my bridesmaids) to sort out the hen night. Wanted to do it myself, but no, they insisted it was their job. Except my poor mum has ended up getting dragged into it as well, it was her that told me last night about my sister inviting her friends. And when I questioned it, got told I should just let them go to keep the peace and if I didn't want them there, I could un-invite them!

A lot of me being p-d off is the way in which it's all been done, my sister has my mum wrapped around her finger (but mum refuses to see it that way), but that's a whole big story on it's own lol!

Eventually I said I have enought to be dealing with just now (have been at a funeral today, job interview tomorrow, wedding plans and redundancy in 5 weeks!), so want to hear nothing more about the hen night until it happens, and if there's any more stressing or arguments about it I don't want to know!!

We have cake tasting on Saturday, which I'm looking forward to way more than I should, seeing as I have a dress to fit into in less than 3 months!! And still haven't posted the invites...

Well May 5th is fast approaching....panic! EEK!

We're nearly there with everything, just finalising things like flowers and writing cheques to numerous people and companies ROTFL.

I'm getting a little nervous (I'm the groom). Suit is now sorted, so is my dad. We've only got 20 people coming to the main wedding and meal but then other friends have been invited to an evening drinks reception in Brighton. It's caused so much hassle with picky/annoying/rude relatives (ahem - future in-laws) that we've had to plan it around them and then on top of that pay for transport for everyone as we now have 3 venues instead of the original 2. I don't think they realise how much its cost us though (we're paying, no offers of any help from them although my parents have been fantastic and helped with lots of things). Eloping would have been easier ROTFL

Sorry, rant over! I hope it all works out on the day :)
