  • thanks!

We are lucky, we don't need to give the venue numbers til 3 weeks before, so start of May for us!

    I put 29th February just because I could :D

invites were out last week of Jan/first few days of Feb. however we don't need to give numbers with the caterers until 2 weeks before the day so plenty time to chase the straggers and get the second and third wave of invites out.

I don't think you need to give too long for notice - in our case everyone who was being invited knew the date as soon as it was set back in August last year, and were likely to lose the RSVP if given 8 weeks to respond.

I sent my invites out second week of January and put 29th February as the RSVP date. Of the 52 people who got sent an invite, 32 have replied. I needed to do it early as we had 3 waves of people to invite if we got any rejections. Currently starting to invite the 2nd wave as of the 32, 7 said no.

As Vistaprint sent my order twice by mistake, I have loads of spare RSVP cards. The problem is they have the RSVP by date printed on them so do you think it would be ok to cross that date out and write the new RSVP by date for the next wave of people?
  • Wowee, this is all getting very exciting on here! :)

So, the developments i have now... The dress is bought, the Church is booked, the Reception venue is booked, the cake is being designed so nearly ready to order, the Save the Date cards have gone out with lots of positive replies and we went bridesmaid dress shopping at the weekend, VERY exciting!

Our next round of dates are that we have another meeting with our Priest on 6th March, then the menu tasting on 13th March.

Im still very up in the air with the colour scheme so until i pin that down, i cant do the invites which is leaving it a little late but everyone knows that i always leave everything til the last minute... all good fun!
  • Thanks stationaryace. I can't seem to find anything on the forums, and I'm not sure about my bridal shop as they do all their alterations on-site. So I think good ol' yellow pages it is!

Has anyone got any pics of their invites? So I can ooooh over other people's, as we are STILL awaiting ours?!! I'm getting desperate!

We've put an RSVP date of 26 March on ours so if we can get ours out by the end of the month, it gives them 4 weeks or so to reply. Olokia - all our RSVPs have that date on so Wave 2 are going to have to get the same ones. I think we'll just leave the date as it is, as I'm not sure if it'll look worse if I cross it out? As if it's saying, 'we do really want you to come but you weren't in the first round of invites?!!' :rotfl: Where as I might just be able to play dumb if they get the unaltered ones...:)

The RSVP date is only 15 days away and we are not quite ready to send them out yet so they will still probably be suspicious. Would be a shame to have to order more when we have loads left.
  • Yay, just got an email from OH to say he's picking up the invites next week. No more nagging from me now! And all for the price of a bottle of vodka as a thank you gift - as his friend insisted he didn't want paying for his time or the printing.

Yours look lovely Olokia! We went with Vistaprint for our save the dates and were really happy with them. It seems silly to have to pay to get more RSVPs printed when you have plenty of them to spare. I think it probably depends on how many more invites you need to send out as to whether it's worth the money & effort? I doubt we'll get many who say no so I'm hoping to use our existing ones - but we'll see. Maybe there'll be loads who can't make it!

    Thanks

I need to invite 6 more people right now and 20 people haven't replied yet so I am sure there are some more no's there too. Especially as the majority of them have youngish kids and we said no children at the wedding. I have approximately 40 spare RSVP cards.... Decisions... Decisions...

    Hey everyone!

Sent our invites out on Sunday night and then had a sulk that we didnt get any replies yesterday-mum had to point out that the postman has to deliver the invites for people to see them! Got our first replies today, so so excited.

Also had a meeting with our venue coordinator yesterday to pick food and drink and firm up our timings, it is all feeling real now! We also have our church wedding course on Saturday, OH is promising to be on best behaviour for that.

    Xxx

Olokia is there anyway you can amend the RSVPs you already have in a slightly less obviously way than crossing out date 1? Maybe back the RSVPs on another piece of card with the date on the backing card? I made my invites so not wasting my own hard work!

I have a few spare from my wave 1 and we will be 'artfully' overlaying the new date over the old one :)
