Beautiful dresses MsShopper and MrsErtas - and I agree with MsShopper - your waist looks tiny!!!
Have you heard any more about your interview B2B?
Good haggling work MM! I wish we had haggled more at the start. We were so overwhelmed & caught up in the excitement that we didn't really think to haggle!
Well, we didn't do anything wedding related at the weekend. Tbh, I think I'm just getting a bit fed up with it all. I seem to be stressed over everything - things are manic at work, the invites aren't ready, my sister is putting on weight & so might not fit into her bridesmaid dress, I want to make things for the wedding but I don't have enough time, family trouble, money (lack of!) & friends not understanding that we are saving for wedding/house deposit and can't fly to various places to celebrate 30th birthdays/hen parties etc.
My bridesmaids (my younger sisters) are lovely, but they are both student nurses, one is also a single parent with 2 small children, and so I feel like I can't delegate as much as I'd like. So it seems like I'm doing everything myself - or nagging OH to help me. And then he just says, 'Oh we don't need favours/bunting/name tags etc...so why bother'. Which is not exactly helpful!!! Either that or he just says it'll be fine. Which is what happened when I asked him 3 weeks ago to see when his friend would finish our invites as I wanted them ready by the end of January. We are now into February and he still has no idea when they'll be ready. It is not 'fine'!!!
And I know I should be happy with what I have and the fact I am getting married - and I want to be married - I just can't be bothered with the actual wedding bit any more! Sorry, bad day!!!0 -
Hugs Clevercogs!!
But I know exactly how you feel!
Didn't get the job on Tuesday. I'm disappointed, but not overly so coz the feedback I got was good, they just had candidates with more experience. My wain worry is now that I could be out of a job before the end of the month!!
This means the wedding is in danger of getting postponed. Desperately trying to find ways to cut back, and to try and find another job!!
But all OH can say is it'll all be fine. Or 'so what if it's postponed, it'll give us some more time to save' - not what I want to hear!! He is trying to cheer me up, but totally going about it in the wrong way!!0 -
Thanks B2B! Awww, sorry to hear you didn't get the job. That's the hardest thing about interviews - you never know what you're up against or what they are looking for. You just have to try and acccept that everything happens for a reason, and usually things work out for the best.
And clearly your OH has been having the same teachings as mine to learn his skills in cheering up! 'It'll be fine' is not an acceptable response to provide reassurance in my opinion. More like a fob off so he can get back to his x-box!!!0 -
I am one very thankful person that my OH isn't really into gaming - he has an old PS2, that I have seen him play twice in the (almost) four years I've known him!! However, he has an Ipad, and I think the only thing he does on it is look at cars for sale on Ebay and Gumtree! Drives me insane talking about cars he's seen for sale! Don't get me wrong, I'm quite into cars myself, but just DO NOT get the point in looking when we have no money to buy one!! GRRR...
Anyhow, off to fill in yet more job applications (why can't I just send CV's, so much easier!)0 -
Hugs B2B2012 & positive great-new-job-finding wishes/vibes.
Know what you mean about FH's 'it'll be fine' reassurances. Mine swings between that and a hurried - 'we need to book/do this/that' (having done no research into it himself & only half-listened at best to my findings when I did) atm & it's driving me crazy ( hence why I'm still up, - can't sleep). Really starting to freak out now, have been researching & trying to plan since Dec'10, wanting everything finalised before Christmas '11, so I didn't get too stressed....no such luck. Here I am in my worst wedding related nightmare, with 3 months to go & very little set in stone. Have been fighting off utter panic for several weeks now & keep having such HUGE wobbles about it all. :-s0 -
Haha B2B, that made me laugh! I have a friend who is always looking at big houses online - drives his wife insane! I don't mind the gaming - at least he's not into those pointless shoot 'em up games! - and he's not into football, which I am forever thankful for! Hope the job applications come up trumps for you. But those forms really are a time-consuming process!
Try not to panic too much Mazzerati - although I know exactly how you feel! It doesn't help that I'm a control freak by nature which is definitely adding to my stress levels! You are not alone. After feeling particularly fed up yesterday, I went home, had a little cry, sobbed that I'd had enough & wanted to call it off, and then talked things through with my OH. I asked him to please stop the 'it'll be fine' phrase, and in return, I agreed to stop trying to control everything, and ask people to help. We then ordered the suits online, agreed we'd make up the pocketfolds this weekend & he found the opportune moment to tell me our final proofs were ready for our invite inserts.
Agreeing time to do things made me feel a lot better so maybe it would help if you think of a few things you'd like to get done over the weekend, and either do them - or schedule in time when you will get them done? It does abate the panic even just for a little while if you feel like you're actually doing something - no matter how small! x0 -
wow it's been like 2 weeks since I posted here. All our invites are out and so far we have had one rsvp sent back and one rsvp online. We've put a short date on them just so we could use 29 Feb so we had a bit of a mad dash to get them out on time
I need to leave more time when making anything as life gets in the way!
Booked photographer. booked caterers. bought wedding rings today (that was really fun!). got OH's outfit sorted. both my parents have their outfits picked. met with the priest who is marrying us and have started picking out bits for the service.
I think it's normal to hit wedding fatigue, especially at this stage (3 months and ONE day!). I couldn't sleep on tuesday for worrying how to fit 87 people in a 65 seater church  luckily my work is getting so stupidly hectic it's making this wedding malarky look easy!
bride2be fingers crossed with the applications.when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it0 -
It's been ages since I have posted.
Thanks for the dress help, it still hasn't come into the shop so my mind is definitely not at rest yet! Hope it comes in this week as it's now a week late and I still can't buy any accessories because I can't remember what length it is etc.
I am about to get the invites out- have finally finished them but am waiting for John Lewis to send the little giftlist card inserts. Really annoyed with them as it's been a month and they keep saying "we will post them today". Hmm.
Bridesmaid dresses all turned up and I collected them from the shop and everyone tried them on. None of them fit. Despite the ones in the shop all fitting and them being ordered based on those sizes, somehow by making them in a different colour the dresses now do not fit. After a lot of wrangling, they have agreed to remake the dresses but don't believe that my bridesmaids haven't all "got fat" (their words) over Christmas. So have had to re-measure them all and they are still smaller than the supposed sizes we've received.
Anyway hope everyone is doing ok. Sorry to hear about your job bride2be2012, I hope it's the start of much better things though.0 -
Hi all
Have been busy job hunting the past few days, so not done much for the wedding!
But had my first dress fitting on Friday, which was fab. My bridesmaids looked ace in their dresses (first time I've seen them properly), and my dress still fits, in fact has to be taken in slightly (was panicking, as been eating loads of junk with the stress of the past couple of weeks!).
Only thing I feel down about, is OHs best man (his big brother) had been thinking about Prague for the stag weekend, but now OH can't afford it due to my impending redundancy. Totally wouldn't have minded him going, but we just don't have the cash now
Oh, and out lottery didn't come up tonight...grrr....0 -
Ah, bride2be, I think we have the same OH! We finalised our guest list ages ago, and since then H2B has invited two more couples as day guests. That better be it – we can't afford any more!
Wonderful news MrsErtas! Can you give us a sneak peek of your dress?
I have also had some dress drama this weekend. The dress I bought last summer is lovely but I didn't love it. So, after a lot of fretting, I've decided to sell it on eBay – and probably only get a fraction of what I paid for it– and have found a dressmaker to make me one that I do love. It's a 1950s/1960s-inspired style, and should hopefully look a little something like this:
I have my first fitting in late March and then it should be ready for a final fitting three weeks before the big day. :j
