Morning all!
Olokia - if anyone questions why the date has been scored out, can you not make up a little white lie and say it was an error at the printers and it was too late to get it re-printed? or are people who receive a 'second' round invite likely to find out they were in the second wave??
MrsErtas - you are certainly getting on well with your planning! So exciting!
Still waiting on our invites being delivered, I know the ebay seller said end of this week but I'm still getting impatient lol! I think if the first lot go out this weekend then I'll put an RSVP of 4th March on them, that gives people 4 weeks. I know almost all of OHs side are coming, as they have all booked rooms at the venue, but haven't a clue about my side! I know one uncle isn't too well at the moment (nothing serious thankfully) and might not travel, and another 2 aunties aren't happy my cousins aren't getting invited all day (said cousins aren't fussed, but their mums are creating a fuss!).
Got email last night from our cake lady saying she can make us a VW campervan cake no problem, so we are going to see her in a few weeks = cake testing :j
And my shoes have finally arrived at the shop, but won't get a chance to pick them up until next weekend. Can't wait to try shoes, dress and tiara on togther!!0 -
Hey all
I've missed lots on here it seems! Glad to hear you're all getting on well with RSVPs and menu choices and the like. We really have hit the final countdown!**
Our invites have been printed now, and should be delivered on Friday. So that's a weekend of folding, taping and glueing for me and H2B! (It's the first wedding task he's actually looking forward to, I think!)
Cleverclogs, not sure if I posted a link to my invites on here or another thread, but if you're interested, here's the prototype I did on our home printer: invites (lame quality on my phone camera, sorry)
The final version will have a 5cm vellum belly band around them, printed with the quote: "There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved" (sort of a mini-theme, as I plan to have similar 'love' quotes on our table number cards). The flap will have a velcro dot to keep it in place and a little embellishment on the top (these are only tiny in real life!):
Our RSVP date is 15 April for the day guests and 30 April for the evening guests. Amazingly, we only have to let our venue know final numbers (and pay the balance) one week before the wedding, ie 19 May. So plenty of time, thankfully.
And that's it from me. Next on the list is meet with the florist, our priest (my uncle!), and sort the suits – all happening the weekend after next! Phew!
** PS Speaking of final countdown… I write a wedding blog now and again, as a way to vent frustrations or just ramble on (don't like to bore my friends and family too much with wedding nonsense!). Anyway, I don't normally publicise it, but I felt really pleased with my last post, and since barely anyone reads the thing I thought I'd finally put it out there! So if you're reeeeeally bored and have nothing else to do, here it is: link0 -

LOVE your blog MsShopper! I've just whiled away 30mins of time I should have been spent working, reading through it. Any excuse! You make a lot of points that I think any B2B can relate to. For me, it was the wedding-related insomnia (mine comes & goes...it's here at the moment - dammit!), and with my recent wedding fatigue, I'd much rather take 'Fringe' over planning (ooh it's good at the mo!!!). And Pinterest is an absolute god send!!!
I've been quite poorly this week. I'm sure it's probably related to work & wedding stress, but having had six migraine-free months, they've returned with vigour this week, leaving me exhausted. I think I'm just burnt out! It's OH's birthday today so I will bake his cake later and then try to relax. Both OH and I have taken Thur & Fri off work next week so we plan on getting all the wedding jobs out of the way next Thur so we can enjoy the rest of our long weekend together.
On another note, tiara drama has been resolved. My 2nd one arrived this week and this one IS the right one. I should have just gone with my instinct the first time round (note to self for the future), but at less than £20, it wasn't an expensive mistake to rectify, and my outfit is now complete! Yay!0 -
Thanks Cleverclogs! That's made my day!
Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. I hope you get some R&R this weekend and next. Good luck with your OH's birthday cake!
I'm also feeling the work/wedding stress. I now have eczema on my cheeks and chin (a classic sign for me that I'm stressed out) – not a good look. I'd better sort it out soon, or I'll look like a scaly Lizard Lady on the big day!
Great news about your tiara, and getting your outfit sorted. That must be a relief. I have to wait until my first dress fitting at the end of March to see what my dress even looks like. I'm trying not to get too nervous!
Other news from me: our wedding invites arrived from the printer yesterday and most of the inserts have quality issues (large portions of faded, patchy colour). I could have done better with my home printer! I've got to send them back samples so they can investigate and then (I hope!) reprint. They've been very apologetic and want to get it resolved. But it means we can't assemble them this weekend and we're away next weekend, so it's a bit of a pain really. :mad:0 -
MsShopper, I've just been reading your blog. It's FAB! Can relate to so much of it: but you've put it far more eloquently. The sketch of your dress looks really beautiful.
I'm sorry that the invites haven't come out as planned, hopefully you will get them done quickly once you've got the replacements.
We had our first two RSVPs in the post today. So exciting!! Plus the receipt for the balance of our honeymoon and my pre-printed passport application form in my married name. All very exciting!
The bridesmaids' dresses are all being remade for free (in the next size up) so hopefully when they arrive in March, it will just be a case of some adjustments but they will fit.
Still umm-ing and aah-ing about favours. Don't know what to have, if any at all.0 -
Aw, thanks katini!
Glad to hear you're getting the BM dresses resolved. I don't mind (too much) if a company makes an error, as long as they put in the effort to make it right.
Favours... I was in two minds about them for ages. In the end, we're having them mainly cos I think they'll look nice in the photos! My bouquet will include dahlias, and I plan to make these dahlia-inspired favours (filled with sweeties). With the tag, they'll double as place names as well.0 -
They look lovely Ms Shopper!
Katini, glad the dresses are almost sorted.
Hope everyone has had a productive weekend.
Well, we went to our Marriage course yesterday. There were 21 couples there, and it wasn't that 'churchy', and actually reasonably interesting, so that is another job done.
Have any of you having catholic weddings picked your readings yet? We are struggling to decide as there are a fair few that say that the wife should be silent/worship/obey the husband!
Our next job is finding jobs for the mums to do-both are eager to help but we (I) am struggling to let go of my control on the planning!0 -
 "my wedding places are not interchangeable - no your girlfriend can't have your sister's place" is what I should've said. Not "sure". I'm such a pushover I have decided to stop answering my phone.
Clarius, we haven't chosen our readings yet. Not that bothered about promising to obey the hubby, we all know who rules the roost.
MsShopper my skin has decided to break out, starting with a lovely teenage-style spot under my nose (I have NEVER had one there so no idea what's happening!). all hail concealer in the day and hiding from mirrors in the evenings.
Katini, yay! :T fingers crossed the next size up actually is the next size up.
had one more RSVP in the past week. still 15 RSVPs to come out of the 37 we sent in wave 1, and that's with counting those close family who "don't need to reply" as I was told last night. mmm hmm, let's see what you eat with no reply.when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it0 -
My skin has decided to break out as well Stationeryace, can't believe it!
Has anybody started to do things differently with their beauty regime? I was wondering whether I should start having a few facials.
All our invitations are out now. We've had 50 responses out of 170 which is pretty good in just over a week. Although we did send a few extras out hoping for a few no's and we've had none yet

MsShopper - LOVE your blog, it's fab!
Katini - Glad you are getting somewhere with your dresses, hope they turn out OK now.
Clairus - I know what you mean about letting go of control. My MIL2B would love to do the whole thing if I let her lol. My mum isn't too fussed, at least if she is, she hides it well! I think she's had a lot of influence on the hen night, which I am VERY glad about, as my bridesmaids would have organised something outragous!
Well, my invites still haven't arrived  if they don't come today I will get a tracking number from the ebay seller.
Going to visit the florist with my mum and younger sister this afternoon, to see about getting some flowers to decorate my sister's wheelchair. We did this before for my cousins wedding, and my sister loved it all dressed up girly!
My skin was breaking out as well, put it down to stress! Normally I have dry cheeks and oily T-Zone, typical combination skin really. But past few weeks I've had big flaky patches on my forehead, right above my eyebrows. I've also had the skin on my cheeks feel horrible and uneven and angry, like it's about to break out in big teenage style spots, but it never actually did.
I stopped using cheap Tesco facewash and bough some Ulay cleansing milk and toner, and made sure I moisturise morning and night (I think it's Nivea night time moisturiser and it's Boot's Natural Collection tinted moisturiser during the day). Seems to be working so far, no more flaky patches and my cheeks are back to normal. I'm considering getting a couple of facials, prob a bit closer to the time.0
