Boots 75% off sale - possible date

popped into my local boots today and saw my mum's friend who is the assistant manager. she had previously told mum they had been told prices would remain at 50% until 24th January. She confirmed it again - they had not heard anything further from HO. they did have some new floor plans to do but had to accomodate sales stock into it apparently!

Yes have been to Basildon store last week - they still have quite a bit of stuff; but would say that Lakeside have more.

Got some great Tess Daly moisturiser from M&S in Lakeside last week - £3 instead of £7.50!

They have the mango mini bags which will be £1.50 when it goes 75% - they have the body butter in them along with a body wash.

I'm only after stuff for xmas presents really - i got sooo much Soap and Glory bought for me for xmas and birthday i'm good for that sort of thing til next birthday/xmas lol

Lakeside had more this morning than it did last night when i had a look...

in big branch in commercial rd,portsmouth 2day and there were loads of shelves full of 50% stuff...and not just lil things either!! got all things crossable crossed!! as 4 the 75% sale...guess gonna have 2 keep checking!!!.so far all my favs are still in stock online,so am hoping to get rest of this xmas pressies!!already got the birthdays covered!!

It seems to me that Boots has become a victim of its own success with this sale. I remember the first year it started - or the first year I went anyway, think it was in about 2002/2003. It was a Saturday afternoon and my mum rang me from town and said get down here now, all the Christmas gifts are down to a quarter price so I legged it down there and got loads of goodies!! Nobody knew about it in advance, it was just a nice surprise. By about 2008 I still didn't know in advance when it would be, but was in Boots so often that I always ended up in there at some point on the first day, not at 9am but late on, and there was still plenty of stock left and it wasn't a scrum or anything.
The following year I knew about it cos my mum overheard 2 SAs saying about the prices that things would be the following day, and then of course by last year I was following the thread on here.
What I mean to say is, that year on year it's become busier and more expected as the word spreads, so we've reached the point where everyone knows about it and is waiting for it. Therefore, if Boots have loads of people refusing to buy stuff at 50% cos they KNOW it will go to 75% off, then the stuff is not going to sell well at 50%. Then Boots will leave the sale a bit longer cos they want to sell more at 50% but people still won't buy it cos they've heard about the 75% sale. It's a vicious circle for Boots now it's well known, and I don't see what they can do to get out of it - I seriously think their sales figures would drop if they stopped doing it, cos lots of people just wouldn't bother with the 50% sale at all.

Sorry for the ramble.... just pondering on what might happen to the aisles and aisles of stuff in my local big Boots, if they didn't do the 75% off.
