Was weird this morning, store opened at 8am, ew got thre 9.00ish and not a soul in sight. My friend said 'let's go in anyway' (I was ready to drive home) and as we were in there there were a few people with trollies piled high. Something was going on - 50% signs still up. I asked whether it was 75% and was told yes, grabbed some stuff and within 5 minutes the vultures had descended. Listened to 2 women moaning at a staff member as their friend had gone sale shopping without them and had he seen her (LOL, really??) They were not happy.

I got what I needed, £165 worth of stuff 'free' as I have been saving my advantage points and put £65 on the card. So was well pleased - over £400 worth of stuff for just £65. No mens stuff though which was weird, but the women and school teachers are done.

I went with my mum after I had finished work about 1:30 ish...it was still madness and the staff said that it was actually quiet to how mad it had been.
Got a few bits of the that I wanted such as the candle making set and make up bits, but not a lot left! But I would have like some of the pj's but just had large left and even then they were open.

One of the ladies on the tills was almost crying when she was telling my mum about some of the people that she had encounted, blocking aisles so no-one could get down, coming with lists and just sweeping shelves of stuff into baskets.

I was also surprised to see the amount of ripped boxes and empty bags where people had taken the stuff that was inside the bag and just left it. Still quite a few of the extracts range left, but not many!
Wins for 2022: Hydratem8 Water bottle, diary, flowers, Good food show tickets, childrens books x3,
Thanks to all who post the comps & please let the comping fairy sprinkle dust on my entries!

  • Loads of stock left in Boucher Rd Belfast when I left, good variety too. I got a few bits but had already spent a fortune in my local in Dungannon which had loads of the stuff I wanted. My sister and I took the morning off work and went on a Boots tour and what a great morning we had!!!!!

We were the first in to our local Boots this morning and I heard one sa ask another how we would have heard about the sale when they had only just been told, she replied something on the internet:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I love this site and forums, thanks so much to all for the fun posts over the last few weeks and of course for alerting me to the start date!!!!!!

    Roll on next years!!!!

Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset or mad, is a full minute of happiness you'll never get back.. :p:p
  • I'm really hacked off. I start work at 8 and don't finish until 4.30. Got to my local store at 5pm and there was just rubbish left. I also wish people were restricted to the amount they could buy as other people have to miss out just because they work full-time

How do so many people manage to get there for opening?
Have you all been throwing "sickies"?!!!:D

Booked day off work week ago, had inkling that it would be today based on previous years
  • Managed to get to my local Boots this morning, half an hour after opening time. Spent £40. Couldn't believe my eyes when I went to the checkout. Obviously I knew people who were there for opening time would have bought loads but one person spent £400!!! There were only 4 small aisles of reduced items so how she managed to pile the stuff up I have no idea. They must have had 30+ bags full. The receipt was almost as tall as her! I know it's none of my business what is going to happen to it all (I'm guessing Ebay etc) but is it fair? It leaves little left for others, especially those who can't make it due to school run or work etc. I did hear that they were moving on to another store that opened later for another go!! As if she hadn't got everyone's presents done for the next year or two!
  • I always just buy what I need for Christmas presents, I am quite happy with what I managed to get and have learnt from previous years that you do need to get there first thing if at all possible otherwise there is nothing left. I usually do take the day off work as it is advertised on this thread when the possible date is going to be and in the last few years it is right. Last year there didn't seem to be much stock at all at my local store but this year was very pleasantly surprised so was worth the trip out. Bonus that my husband was off today as well to help me carry my bags. :rotfl:
