I've never seen a 90% sale, but have found wrapping paper for 10p at odd times in the year.

the boots I work for stopped having a 90% off sale about 3 years ago so not all stores have them.

Yes there definitely was a 90% sale last year (and the year before) as Watford had loads of Fern hatboxes and Gok sets reduced to £4 and £4.50!

Funny how it's different everywhere! Also at my local, 2-3 days before it went to 90% (so a good 11/12 days after the start of the 75%) there was stacks and stacks of those Fern hatboxes mentioned above, and the same with Strictly cases - I mean hundreds - but on 90% day they mysteriously disappeared!!! No way did they shift that many in a couple of days when they'd hardly sold any in over a week, so they must have disposed of them elsewhere!!

after work i visited another local boots store, there were items left but everyone of them had been ruined ...make up had finger prints, packaging torn, price labels removed. it was sooo annoying....just because you dont want something why ruin it for the next person???

and i agree with what someone said earlier..there should be a limit on the amount of boxes a single customer can buy.

How do so many people manage to get there for opening?
Have you all been throwing "sickies"?!!!:D

I think I missed most of the mayhem on here, I stumbled across this thread quite by chance, had a good read through it and found that the sale in the last few years anyway, has happened on the 3rd Wednesday in January, arranged to go for that date and then didn't really return to this thread so see all the 'is it tomorrow?' posts.

I was talking to the girl serving me at Boots MetroCentre and asked if they get first pick. She said they got told the night before if they wanted to come in at 7am they could pick what they wanted. So it seems at least for the MetroCentre, the staff get to know when the sale is the day before.

I have to ask though to all you experienced 75% shoppers - Is the ache in my arms just a regular boots-sale-shopping experience? I've never known anything like it ha ha ha, and I didn't think i'd bought much. I think it must be due to being stuck in the aisles with my basket full and not being able to move for half an hour :rotfl:
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Went yesterday after work to the Bond street one. of the 6 aisles, about 3 still had stock in them. I did grab a few thigns, more than expected, but unfortunately, no S&G tins left. I also had my sight on the pink Strictly drawer with makeup, but it was gone. Lots of Strictly eyes sets (fake lashes and mascara), Kiss me quick, and Fearne brush sets.

I had 2 shoppers bags, and yes, my arms hurt (so did all my body when I arrived home). Cannot believe some people spent £400 in there! But I already saw lots on eBay. Are there anyone buying it, knowing Boots sell them cheaper? I mean, even if the store don't stock it anymore, I wouldn't go and buy it on eBay... To me it's all about what good stuff I can buy for dirt cheap...if that makes sense?

  • Just a reminder for anyone who has picked up a S&G tin to give as a present (I also posted this yesterday). My tin has a voucher inside with an expiry date of 28th February 2012, which you may wish to remove!! ;)

I also got a NIVEA Feel Festive box in the Sainsbury's 70% sale a couple of weeks ago. That has a coupon in with an expiry date of 28/02/12.

If you are saving these items to give as gifts next Christmas you maybe wouldn't want the recipient to think you were a cheapskate buying them in the sales?? :rotfl:

I didn't know either there was a 90%!!!! I doubt they will have anything left. It seems people really are buying more this year in 75%.

Ok now lets start predicting when 90% is!! Like 75% which is usually a wednesday does this 90% have a set day of the week or has it been random every year?

Yeah last year there seemed to be loads of fearne and Gok...this year there is nothing big at all left. It was probably the man who had the cage full of goodies that took the large items!

I really wanted a Nivea set, there wasn't even any left at 50% which i didn't mind paying for let alone 75% off on them :(

I can't remember for previous years, but last year it definitely started 2 weeks after the 75% sale, on 2nd Feb. So if they were to do the same this year, it would be 1st Feb.

I'm a stay at home mum. I still had to get the kids to school first though so though my local opened at 8.30am, I didn't get there till 9am. No sickies for mums, you know!
