    Hi,
haven't had chance to read thro all the recent posts, (is this the longest boots thread in history?)

just got in from work and wanted to report my own experience today-ok so i was going to resist the sale but i just couldn't help myself, i need help!
I set my alarm every hr last night and didn't get anywhere, headed off to shefd meadowhall which is about 1/2 hr drive from me, thought i would combine with claires as my sister and i have already cleared out our local claires

anyway IT WAS LIKE A CATTLE MARKET!!!!!!!! The 2 isles were so full that you couldnot physically move-I was "stuck" in each isle physically neither being able to reach the stock on either side because people were in the way and neither moving forwards or backwards. One woman was THROWING items to her OH OVER the isle -nice! People were being really mean and nasty and the BO from one lady was uhhh! It was so stressful.

    NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Anyway small consolation gots some lovely bits from claires so wasn't total waste of time.

THEN on my way back popped into my local at Doncaster before I went into work. The shelves were packed and our folk must be so naive I heard so many people just strolling around browsing!! Not like me hard core get as much as you can in your basket whether you need it or not!!

I have overbought loads of items, pleased but I really only wanted the fragrance minatures and got none from anywhere, just the old charlie blue and So gift packs, got loads of No7 minipacks and strictly lip gloss packs, think i bought a few too many if anyone wants some!!!

Did I read someone say that the Gok sets were OOS online because I have just managed to purchse 2 online?

It wasnt Leeds by anychance? It was exactly as you described above two sides of the aisle with sales stuff and once you were in the aisle there was no way of seeing what was on the shelves or getting out. I was there first thing as well but had little chance to get most of the things due to the scrum! Last year the sale stuff was over two separate aisle so not a concentration of people in one aisle, made me feel quite claustrophobic. They must have moved it all overnight as when I went before It was across a few aisles spread out and I knew where the things I wanted were, was completly thrown as eveything packed up together. Main thing I wanted was the £10 Sanctuary sets could see them in peoples basket but not on the shelves managed to find one without a lid an then found the lid a bit further on so was happy with that.

    damn
the empy page has just been filled with that boots is being updated thingy
do i assume the payment hasn't been taken from my card until i get the confirmation right?
can't ring customer services now they're closed
worried will lose the stuff from basket

That kept happening to me, I put my card details then it went to the updating page, logged back onto boots.com and the items were still in my basket. Just keep refreshing the page and it should go through eventually (took me about an hour of perseverance but got there in the end)

In answer to I_am_Mad there were a few bottles of the red and black sequined wine and some chocolates. Not much else.

As I say if I pop over tomorrow I will update with whats left.

Try Great Bridge, if you can. They had more food items. No wine, but food items such as sudoko mugs, chinese sets etc.

  • Managed to get to my local store for opening at 8.30 this morning. Only me and an elderly man waiting. Very civilised shopping, managed to get everything i wanted - spent £250 and saved £750. Very pleased - thank you to everyone for all the helpful information:j:j:T:T
  • Just been trailing through the boots website finally got everything i could be bothered to buy after everything that i wanted was oos. I went through all delivery process and got to the card verification entered my details and nothing happened not sure if they've charged my card or not. Have a feeling they have but I cant find a number because the site keeps saying temporarily updating. Anyone else have this problem?? I might just try again and putt card details in
  • and although i appreciate people not getting things they want if someone is skint i have no 'beef' with them making some money on ebay, i use ebay on occassion when skint and it helps me out a great deal.

while i dont bulk buy to do so, i have done the same i'm afraid at times....

sometime its a necessity! although i am sure there are those who do this to the extreme... good luck to them and the folks who are willing to pay ridiculous prices to get some ridiculous toilet sets which if we step back for a min is all they really are.....

I have however sorted myself out for xmas and birthdays all the way through the year between points at 50% sale and ££ at 75% sale :):):) although i think i may have bought too much of the gorgeous wrapping paper lol!!!!

I got a few bits instore a mens no7 wash set and a white collection set and a fcuk set and a candle but it was a case of grab stuff then see if you wanted it and if not put it back.I really wanted a Gok set and a No7 skin and bodycare set but after trying all day online and everytime it went to the payment page it crashed I gave up.

There was one lady with her husband and while he waited with all the full bags she went up and down the aisles clearing whole sections.she had 11 Gok sets and when a lady nearby asked if could have just 1 as that's all she wanted she started hurling abuse at her.in total they had 16 bags full to the brim.

I just think its such a shame when people have to be that greedy.
  • i agree it's sickening that folk are that greedy there is really no need!!! im sure eveyone will be impressed when they all get same gift for her. it just shows grabbing for the sake of it rather than lifting as you want it for certain people and thinking as your lifting. or lift and put in basket then have a think before you go to till as its so busy .....
