    This is the best ours ever gets :-/ 5km from the exchange, attenuation is 68dB.

    No idea but according to BT broadband checker 1.0MB.
    I'm about 3.5 miles from the exchange.
  • Even if BT roll out fibre to the street box.....
    In rural areas it often that last mile of cable to the house which is the real problem.
    Ususally it will have been laid direct in the ground not in ducts - so everything has to be excavated, it will be 1950's vintage and best of all it may well be aluminum rather than copper cable - 'cos it was cheap then.

    ETA I'm miles & miles from Morecambe, isn't that in the west country?

    And I pay well for it too, about £16 from AOL. I'm in that small % of areas that can't get cheap BB, I'm on the old exchange.

    It used to be faster, about 19Mb, and 1Mb upload. It's one of those new exchanges. BT on the same line you get 5Mb.
