I am for one, very upset at how OP is treated.
I cannot believe that an animal rescuer in the flesh, yes, a real one. Not the televised lie that's the RSPCA.
Not them. A real lady, LADY, is caring at her own expense a little dog that is not even her's.

If this not the ultimate sacrifice from an animal lover, what is?

To Padstow, thank you for that. I am not often called a Lady (a little madam sometimes perhaps) so your support is appreciated! I did at first think I was too angry in my responses to a certain poster but to actually be called confrontational and agressive by someone who has only skimmed a few of my posings, when anyone that actually knows me knows that normally I would not say boo to a goose and I bend over backwards to accomodate everyone elses problems and feelings... well......

Sorry don't mind me, just having a pity party tonight.

Padstow, just for the record, I've reported your posts. You may not agree with the points made but comments such as 'ghastly creature' and 'heartless creature' are without doubt inflammatory and unnecessary.

OP I've been lurking and following this since you first posted. I hope you find him a forever home soon, you've shown a kindness to this poor animal and hopefully Karma will play it's part beneficially for you too one day.

Thank you for the second part of your post aliasojo but can I ask you not to be so harsh on Padstow. They were only responding to an obvious attack on me which included being called confrontational and agressive, being "shouty", and over reacting to constructive criticism after being accused of those very things. If anyone needs reporting it is obviously the poster who started it all as they were "not nice" to this particular moneysaver .

Now that I have had that big fat rant can I just say that Bailey is going to the vets tomorrow and I am, and still will be, looking for a home for him.

I will let you all know how he is after the surgery as a few people through the board and through PM’s have expressed a lot of love for the poor little pooch.

    Wish him luck………
  • Good luck for tomorrow bailey

Please give him massive strokes from me :)

Having 2 rescue dogs myself I can speak from my own experience my first dog who is now 11 we got her from a vets that was at the far side of manchester that was around 30 miles + from where I live, we love and adore her and wouldn't be without her.

my other rescue dog that I've had 18 months now I travelled all the way to birmingham for, I seen her on the loot as I was looking for a rescue dog and not a breeded puppy. Birmingham is a good 2-3 hours away from me but I seen her and called the people who were looking after her I said that I was serious but I was unable to see her until 3 days time and would that be ok so they held on to her for me until I could go and see her we took our other dog to make sure they got on well. We then decided to take her home with us and I sat in the back of the car with her curled up on my knee all the way home. She's come on leaps and bounds since we got her she was half starved and scared of the slightest noise now she's chasing squirrles in the local park and is really friendly to anyone.

If someone is being totally serious about having Bailey they would come and see him like I went to see my now dog.

I hope that he finds a good home to. He is a lucky boy to have such a loving friend as you. If there is anything at all I can help with please let me know. You could advertise him on the loot even I think it's free.

Can anyone let me know, when I go to pick him up in the afternoon, will he be fully up and about or would it be a good idea to get a large cardboard box and some blankets to bring him back in? Would ask the vets but I am taking him there for 8.30 (opening time) and the supermarket I could get the box from is on the way to the vet, don't know if it's worth a detor? Also, how long will he be off food and water for (if at all?) just trying to work out how I am going to keep getting him up and down the stairs to the flat without hurting him. Is there a way to encourage him to do his business on a newspaper for a couple of days while he is recovering or am I going overboard?

Thanks for the offer Steph! I will also look at loot and some other online papers when he is back safe and sound.

All of my dogs were fine after being neutered, the vet should give you a sheet with do's and don'ts on it, the one thing that stuck in my mind is don't let him jump up on anything in case the stitches burst and just short on lead walks for a few days. With the food it's best to stick to chicken with or without rice, fish with or without rice or a wee drop scrambled egg, whilst a dog will love rice pudding if there's milk in it just watch as a lot of dogs are lactose intolerant and it might give him the runs.
I'm keeping everything crossed for the wee soul :heartsmil
