((((((SA))))) when we first looked at this house, I said to the LL, what are the neighbours like? Oh very quiet, you won't know they are there..... first week we moved in, people on our left moved out and rented it to some very noisy people! The homeowners on the right were having an illegal extension built, have 3 kids, a house full of lodgers and the noise was incredible! We did ask them very nicely to tone things down, especially as DS sleeps in the front room next to the noisy room and their front door. In the end I had to contact Environmental Health who wrote them a letter and things calmed down considerably! We get on now, say hello, etc.

Here's some fairy dust to make your neighbours move somewhere else! ************* hope it works.

glad work is going good for you. Fingers crossed something more permanent, closer to home is found for you.

Oh and regarding Mr A! now I definitely will not buying from them if they do that, I cannot afford to wait for money to be released, just the same as you. Call the Customer Service and tell them to release it ASAP! And if that doesn't work, right to the Managing Director saying you will not be buying from them again if they continue to do this, and did they know Sainsburys offer you £10 off yours, and you will start buying online from them.

Morning, and thanks to my buddies for your replies...

Firstly, they were quiet last night and I slept like a baby. Bit of a fiasco though this morning :o my alarm went off at 5am and I couldn't reach the clock because MrT was in the way, sprawled all over the bed! So when I finally got to it I swiped it and it fell on the floor causing a bit of a thump. They must have heard it downstairs and I felt a bit guilty but it was an accident, honestly.
The mediators told me that they would install noise recording equipment if it started again- I think that will frighten the bejeesus out of them ;)

Our flats are actually houses that are in two flats - one up, one down, both with two bedrooms. The stories differ - I have been told that originally they were meant to be houses (a policeman told me) but others have said that they were always meant to be flats. I don't think this is true because the downstairs flats have no access to their back gardens - they have to walk around the building (very strange. The walls aren't a problem, noise wise, it is the floors. You can hear EVERYTHING. If Mrs Fatty downstairs is on the phone in their living room I can literally hear the conversation word for word, she is however a real gobby so and so.
I love the flat though, the location, size, layout and of course the decor now and I a'int going anywhere. I will find a way round it, I know I will.
MrA are As*a - that well known supermarket. It is in their Terms and Conditions but they make it out that only a small number of banks hold on to the "pre authorised" amount. My bank tells me that it is up to As*a to release the funds - they blame each other basically. My bank does tell me that people complain on a daily basis but there is nothing they can do. It is SO WRONG  I won't buy from them again online - once bitten, twice shy.

My new knife and fork clock has arrived and MrT and I will go to the Sorting Office and pick it up before work stopping off to feed Mama Duck and her 14 siblings - amazing. There are just so many ducklings this week and they are more confident than the big ducks - so sweet and funny.

I will speak to you all tonight - it is great to see you here. I feel like Robinson Crusoe on a desert island sometimes with MrT as my "dog Friday" - come back soon everyone. sw - sort out your 'puter - fast.

    Hugs

Certainly sounds like a conversion - purpose-built flats wouldn't have that much of a problem with noise. Although it is odd that a HA would buy property like these. Could you ask the HA to put noise-prevention barriers under the carpets? (I don't know what these are, but I am sure you can get something. Or maybe it goes under the floorboards.) I would have send they are duty bound to minimise the noise for you. That doesn't excuse the neighbour's all-night noisiness, of course, but you shouldn't be able to hear telephone conversations. Could be worse, I suppose. You could have a young couple in there ...

    Your alarm goes off at 5 a.m.? ? ?

Will you write to MrA to let them know you will no longer be buying stuff online from them?

My dog is more of a Dog Monday Morning - no help from her!

From what I understand the HA bought this flat when a previous occupant sold it to them and then rented it back as a tenant (?) The rest of the 16 flats are mostly council - 1 or 2 have bought theirs and Yes there is a problem with people hearing "Luuurve making" - how embarassing - makes me glad I haven't got a bloke to be perfectly honest!

5am start if I am to get my little cleaning job done and a full day at work and MrT walked. No rest for the wicked but it is what you have to do to pay the bills these days - that is why I get so ratty when I get home and the "state financed family" downstairs are up to their normal shenanigans! I just want a bit of peace and quiet.
I may look into soundproofing and see what it involves - the HA are very good and I may be able to sort something out - who knows, no harm in trying.

    Speak soon.....

    Hugs

That's your answer. Get a man in, be very noisy and embarrass them into leaving. Then you can dump the man and be a happy, peaceful, singleton tenant. On second thoughts, keep the man until you approve the new neighbours - if they don't look suitable when you twitch the curtains as they are being shown around, hop into bed or on the dining-room table or whatever and ensure they don't want to move in. Then dump the man, etc.

    Happy to help.

Nope, don't want or need a man, thanks! :D

I bumped into the local councillor who helped me last year with "them downstairs" and told him that it was all getting to me again and he has promised to help. It is handy that he is touting for votes at the moment for the elections on May 5th - I have promised to vote AND to have a board in my garden - hopefully that should get me a great deal of help, wouldn't you think? ;)

He ws telling me that there is a new development of 35 council houses just being finished and he is going to check if they have put in for a transfer? If they have, he might be able to add a bit of welly to it - if not he is going to get the neighbourhood manager round again to them.
I keep thinking I am over reacting but surely everyone should be able to live in relative peace and quiet? I have come home tonight to a group of boys aged 9 or 10 outside the house shouting and larking around and the MOTHER is joining in with them!!!!! They all call her by her first name - WHAT is going on? I have had to close the windows because of the noise. Hells Bells!

Anyway, enough of them - I have written a long letter of complaint to both the CEO and Operations Director of As*a regarding the double pre authorisation issue. The money was finally back as available funds this afternoon - 8 days after it was put on hold. Not good enough but at least I can got a bit of cash now. It will be interesting to see if I get a reply but I am certainly not going to let it drop. Got the bit between my teeth now.

If the weather is fine tomorrow I am going to replant a few things and start painting the fence. When my next survey cash arrives next week I am going to buy a cheap hedge trimmer and practice my topiary skills :o such as they are..... Practice makes perfect though, doesn't it?

Work is really picking up as you can imagine - chocolate + Easter = lots of work. Still, only another 4 days and then there are lots of lovely bank holidays and long weekends ahead. MrT and I can explore a bit further afield.

Not too much to say, looking forward to an evening in front of the telly and a bottle of vino tomorrow, I think..... :)

    Hugs
