Hi everyone
Can you please remember we ask you not to offer or accept offers of money or exchange personal details on this forum? The rule isn't there because we're miserable old party poopers, it's there for your own protection. While I'm sure there's nothing untoward going on here, as we say at the top of the forum, anyone can say anything - you just don't know who you're talking to.
Have a good weekend

:silenced: - my only comment! Not sure I understand, but best left there.
Morning everyone,
I think it is going to be a sunny day - up here at least, but I think it is still a wrap up warm day. Come on Spring - get springing.
I am looking forward to starting the new job tomorrow. I have sent the details through and signed off JSA, at least I can get rid of the slight guilt I feel now that there is so much bad press about people on benefits in the media at the moment.
This is my personal opinion but I really need to put it out there - I don't understand how people can expand their families while they are living on welfare and are doing nothing to support themselves. I have a family who live close by with two small children. She does not work and apparently has a "bad knee". They have lived there for about 18 months now. The father worked briefly but apparently gave it up to "look after her". New she is pregnant and about to have a third child. They are being rehoused to a larger property and are 100% financed by welfare. How can that be right?
Rant over, back to cheerier musings....
Anyone else never heard of "pollock" ? I bought some frozen fish and popped it in the freezer without really looking at it. I cooked a piece for my tea last night and saw that it was pollock. It was very nice but a new one for me. A few chips and tomato sauce - job done.
I have been wondering what to make as my next savings target? I have got my fridge freezer, blinds being fitted this week. I am not good at long term saving, it is too tempting to dip into, otherwise I would save for a new(er) car. Mine is 9 years old this year and whilst in very good nick won't last forever. I am sure it is good for a while yet though so I may go for a new cooker. That would finish off the kitchen beautifully. I did make a pledge to myself that I wouldn't buy something to replace something I already had but the oven I have got is too small for the gap it is in, it is white and I would prefer steel/chrome and it is ancient. Decisions, decisions....
Not much to say really, what is everyone up to today? Anything interesting?
Hugs

Hi startagain.
Pollock lol yeah I've had pollock and pretty much every species of fish going. DH is a pleasure angler. Regularly wins matches so I actively kick him out the door to bring home the bacon.. and the fish! Apologies, my humour is somewhat worn. i had 2 hours sleep last night.
I'm not up to much today. LL coming with the electrician, we recently found out that the house we're renting has no earth and the gas certificate expired 6 months ago so we feel very safe ..not.
My Mother-in-law has played the system. Once pretending she had depression so she didn't have to work and then more recently pretended her arthritis was preventing her to work, almost had me fooled but now she has what she sees as her perfect job it's no longer a problem. Makes my blood boil seriously.I'm all for getting what you're entitled to but to alter circumstances so they make you entitled really is annoying.
I'm with you though, the negative feelings you have when you're claiming a little benefit to tide you over when things are really bad is not great. I guess it's that feeling that makes us a better person. I best shush as I don't want to attract trolls, a really emotive subject isn't it. Shouldn't attract horrible comments as we're agreeing that abusing the system is wrong
Chat later, I'd best go tidy up x0 -
I like pollock, nice fish.
I remember a few years ago they started talking about how we had nearly fished out all the cod and they were running out of supplies, so they were introducing pollock as an alternative, and it was as good as cod, just as cheap but better for sustainability.
Sustainability - gosh that word is used daily if not hourly at my workplace. That is all they go on about, sustainability for people to have jobs, how can we create jobs and how to save money, and make work to keep us in our jobs.0 -
You two are more genned up than me for sure. Never heard of it before yesterday and now I see in the paper that pouting is selling well in MrT. POUTING? I thought that is what you did when moving in for a snog.... seems not!
I declare my diary a TROLL free zone as of today and shall be extra vigilant. I tend to accept things at face value sometimes and have my radar switched off
frugal - I remember when I lived in the Dom Rep - they don't have an earth wire on any of the electrical stuff and most of the poor people nick their electricity from the main grid. They attach a tiny wire with a crocodile clip to an overhead wire and then run extension leads off it. It is scary, really scary and is a big reason why the power is always going - it is nothing to have 12 hour power cuts every day.
Lucky you to have a sparky coming on a Sunday.
Have a good day
