  • Morning everyone...

OK - My first ever survey cash has been paid and the balance has just gone up by another tenner so I have requested that as well. Positively in the black, don't you know ;)

Waiting on the cheque from music magpie but at least that has been processed.

I had a visit yesterday from the Contracts Manager of the servicing company that failed to keep their appt in Jan and left me hanging around all day. She was very apologetic and they have actually taken on an engineer to do our local area rather than sending someone from the office which is 40miles away. A £20 cheque is also being sent for my "inconvenience" :)

I went to help an elderly neighbour last night with setting up her new cordless phone. She was very upset because she couldn't get it to work. I don't think the batteries were in properly so I put it all together again and it sprang to life. she was thrilled, Bless.

I have received the job description for the second job and an interview appt for next Tues. Now, please don't think that I am being negative or ungrateful but....

The office is about 10 - 15 mins away and they are only offering a 30 min lunch break which would make it impossible to get home and take the dog out, which is an absolute must. So, I am going to go along but will stress that I must have an hour off in the middle of the day or it is a non-starter. I did mention it at the first interview so I hope she remembers that. I don't mind taking the time unpaid or making it up at the end of the day or another day even. The higher wages that she mentioned are 17p an hour ... :( not exactly earth moving but better than nowt.

As my new freezer slowly fills up with batch cooked meals and supermarket offers my weekly shopping bill is dropping fast. I only buy milk and veg now on a regular basis. Why didn't I get one before? Oh, I remember, no space and no money - that's right :o

I am on the road to having enough money to have blinds fitted in my kitchen to match the rest of the flat. There are 4 smallish windows and they have already been measured so I think that is the next project.

Finally got my AA renewal through for 1st March. They want £52.50 for a year of Roadside service. No chance, they will have to dramatically reduce that if they want my business. That will test the Retention dept when I ring them later :p

Hope is everyone is well and looking forward to the weekend.

    Hugs

SA, you sound so positive! Well done!

my job is the same, only half hour for lunch but people take longer and don't mark it down.
  • I have noticed that 30 min lunch breaks are quite normal these days but I don't like the idea. I don't mind working through any tea breaks as long as I get a decent break in the middle of the day. I don't smoke either, so none of that nipping out nonsense.
Can't decide whether to go to the local auction today. Might be worth having a look see as they have a lot of house clearance stuff there and you can often pick up a bargain. My old dad used to love going when he was alive.

are they normal? I have been out of the job market for 2 years, so didn't know.

But that means they get more working hours out of you

My place, our deputy manager is always disappearing for fag breaks, wash his hands, go to the shop, no wonder he doesn't get any work done!

and I don't take actual tea breaks, but I do go and get coffee, and I will stop and have a chat for 15 mins, so I get it back like that.

yes Mr 3Dogs, picks up some great bargains at the auctions and then sells them at the carboot or ebay. Worth a wander I think.

good luck, hope you find something.

we are waiting for friend to pick us up to go to wackywarehouse, I just didn't fancy walk from bus stop to the place.

oh, don't know if you would be interested? in sending a sick child an email maybe once a month? https://www.postpals.co.uk

that falls under the category of volunteering and it doesn't have to take much time, and you do it when you want. I dip in and out, and help whenever I have time. I just send valentines cards last week to some of the kids. It means so much to them, even the siblings.
  • I will have a look at that, it sounds great and I can always find the time.
Off to feed the ducks shortly - I think our local river has the best fed ducks in the UK! They are so tame, as soon as they see MrT coming around the corner they start waddling to meet me. It is so sweet. There is even a pure white one amongst them - I think he must have escaped from somewhere as he isn't an albino - but he seems perfectly happy in with the mallards.
I have just been looking at my supermarket receipt from this morning and YET AGAIN Sainsburys have got a pricing faux pas. They had a sign reducing the tinned "basics" custard to 6p a tin. A real bargain, but it has been charged at the normal price of 23p on my reciept and I bought 5 tins. Here we go again. This happens at least once a week with the local branch. At least I have the time to go back but it is a pain in the whatsit.
Anyway, speak later. Have a good aternoon. The day is floating by and has been totally unproductive up to now...lol

My sainsbury's is naughty like that too. Usually at changeover day on Tuesday. They leave the old SELs up and you think you are getting a bargain, then you get to the till and it is higher.

But I am quick to call the staff over and show them. The supervisor is usually very good and says I can have at the SEL price, but the member of staff has to immediately remove the wrong SeL.

Gosh you guys have been busy. I have just escaped from work. Must do washing up, peace for a whole week ok lots of marking but i can do that with tea and whilst watching the garden. I would love a freezer - so positive. I will save for that next. I think the idea of batch cooking is wonderful. I like cooking it is therapeutic and good for my confidence even though i dont think i am very good. One day i will be.

Sorry the wages aren't that fantastic SA but think of it as a foot on the ladder and you can use the skills from here to maybe get another job soon. Plus I am sure it will be good for your confidence and you will make loads of friends. The lack of a lunch hour is a surprise though. Crumbs i would starve with only half an hour. Are they all skinny?

Morning everyone - what is going on? The snow is back - from 6.30am this morning until now at least 3 inches has fallen outside. yuk, I hope it goes quickly :(

I have been back to Sainsburys and got a refund on the custard. I felt like it was a bit petty, for 68p, but it is a learning experience for them as well as it does keep happening. An added bonus was that they had MrT's dog food on offer so I bought 12 cans of that while I was there.

I have done a couple of surveys already this morning - another £2 in the kitty and they were quite interesting - about the government and David Cameron's image. I am listening to the podcasts at the moment that I download onto my ipod and laughing at Miranda with Steve Wright, she always makes me chuckle. :D

I have been doing a bit of detective work on the vacancy that I am being interviewed for on Tuesday. I think it was a full time position originally that they have changed to 3 days a week. This could be because I went for a part time position in the first place and they think that that is all I am interested in. Who knows? I did see the vacancy advertised a couple of weeks ago but I actually thought I didnt have all the skills - it just shows how wrong you can be. They obviously think that I may have - Tuesday will tell.

The snow wont stop - the thought of trudging out on a dog walk is not very appealing. I think a coffee and a chocolate biscuit is the order of the day and hope the weather improves.... ;)

    I hope everyone is well.

    Hugs

    Snow!

it's raining here, and that has peed me off. Have to drop avon books in the rain and do deliveries :(

And have promised DS we will go on buses and he can sit on top deck. No point doing that when he can't see out the windows as they are all steamed up!

Hmm, do you want to work full time? If so, why not ask about working full time in that job if you get it and want it.

and no, it's not petty asking for 68p back. If you are living on a budget and have no money, then that 68p might be a pint of milk for you.

I once went back to CS at S and asked for a penny I had been overcharged. And I know the staff well at my S. I told the lady, I know it sounds tight, but that penny makes a difference to my budget. It could be what stops me buying a loaf of bread for DS.
