Its not snowing where I am woohoo! Doesnt mean I dont want to go back under my duvet though!
Well done on your 68p, you know I wouldnt have noticed. Thats not a good thing really, its people like me who are letting these supermarkets get away with it!

Lovely bright sunny start to the day here.:D Not often we can boast that, so I'll make the most of it. Makes up a bit for yesterday and the day before when it was cold, rainy and windy. Blue sky and fluffy clouds today. (Sorry, I wanted to rub it in.)

However, I am stuck inside working.

Hi littleboots, good to hear from you. I always check my receipts religiously. You'd be surprised, I can tell you, at the number of mistakes and it always seems to be in THEIR favour.

Aesop - I am not sure about the full time thing. It is nice to have a bit of time especially as I am looking into ways of working from home. I think it depends on:- whether I get a proper midday break, that it is only a 9 - 5 job, that I like the place and people and that they like me and I fit in? It is going to have to be a wait and see thing.
It is local, it is Mon - Fri and it seems to be suitable. lots of positives which is good especially in these difficult times.

Why does everyone refer to the supermarkets in abbreviations and codes? Have I missed something? I can't see that it makes any difference calling Morrisons "MrM" or by their proper name - especially if it is a name and shame or there is a good offer to pass on. What gives? I am intrigued.

    Hugs

I think the abbreviation thing is so that search engines don't pick up on them and send people to these pages. Although I am not sure why that matters.

we abbreviate or call them by different names, esp when talking about bad service or things that we don't want the retailer to know about. As if they do a google search it will bring them to this forum and threads where we are talking about them.

If it is a good thing, like they accept x, y , z coupons or there is a special offer on a product, we don't mind, but if it is a glitch, we don't always want them to know, or if something we want to say.

Boots Customer Service regularly used to read MSE, esp boots thread and whenever a glitch was raised that cost money, they closed it immediately. if it was a glitch that they didn't mind, they would leave it running.

I was on a comet thread, where someone is having problems with them, and someone started posting, saying he was searching google for the word comet and it brought him to MSE and this complaint. Turns out he works for comet and shouldn't have been posting in disguise.

oh and sometimes Martin can get into trouble for things we say about these retailers, even though it is our opinion and not his, hence the code.
  • Thanks guys - so to me it is common sense that when it is an everyday slip up then it is perfectly ok to name and shame, because it must be in their interest to know, but not where it is something that sends people flocking to take advantage of an incorrect offer?
I don't think reporting on 23p custard marked up at 6p but being charged at 23p will cause MSE to meltdown.

Bit farcical really, because if it is the retailer doing the search and everyone is using the code, then they can just search for the code instead. Although I suppose you could claim that A*da is really Tainburys.

What sort of work are you thinking about doing from home, SA?
