I am also a bit dubious about asking as i have a tiny tiny budget of only £2,500 for my wedding. I have the church booked and am looking into local village halls for my venue as i have friends who have offered to do my disco for free
and am awaiting a quote on a buffet from another friend. I am not having a lavish do at all however i will be having around 100 guests. I have found 'the one' on a website but i am so unsure about ordering my dress from an online store. I obviously want to lose weight before my day. Therefore i am unsure about what to do about the dress. I love it but don't know if it will be available by the time i am ready to buy it. Anyone got any ideas on buying online and the dangers etc? Also any tips on cars would be good as that it where i am thinking i may have to cut back on and use my own car and ask a family member to drive it for me. I would have loved the horse drawn carriage but they start at £800 which is way above what i can afford! I am making my own invites and have all the stuff i need for that. But i do also need to make the order of service too....again ideas would be appreciated! I am going to have artifical flowers for everyone except myself and the groom as those will be placed at the grave of my mother in law afterwards
Could you also explain more about underskirts too? It's something i had not even contemplated. I can see this thread being my new haven for the next 12 months. This time next year i will be married woohooo!
Hi, i'm doing my wedding (fingers x'd) on a budget of 1K0 -
I DONT BELIEVE IT!!!
Just had a phone call from the new wedding planner - she has left!! Personal reasons were cited as to why, but now I dont know where I am or what I'm doing again. All is still booked - which is more than it was last time this happened!! - but I'm just so nervous now about having the wedding there.
I asked the planner whether she would have her wedding there and she said she would, but how can we have any faith in the place!!
I dont know what to do, should we move the wedding somewhere else, IF we can get a date, or do we stay and hope for the best!!0 -

My budget is around 2k, so not far off! I am doing a lot of things myself. Our venue package includes the DJ, buffet etc. It's the registrar prices that surprised me! They can't give us a definite price until next year as the prices will go up again in April, but they said it will more then likely be over £400! For a 30 minute ceremony! I am clearly in the wrong business!0 -
O no again! what a nitemare.do u have insurance so that if anything did go wrong atleast your covered? thing is it is only the planner that is chaging and not the T&C's or the company thats runs/owns the hotel.then i would be worried.Thing is u will lose deposits now by changing.where is your venue hun?
To be honest - after the last time we had all the problems with the venue, they were lucky to get another chance. It was only because the new wedding planner assured us that she was there for the long haul and that she would ensure everything went perfectly. Now she has gone we really dont have any faith in the place and so..................we have cancelled the wedding.
However, we have rebooked, Sunday 3 June!!!!! Getting married in a completely new venue, where we wanted to in the first place, but werent able to. Date is actually better for us too with having 2 bank holidays!! We havent told the OTHER venue yet, so I dont want to name them at the moment, we paid a £100 deposit, which is a small amount compared to what some have paid, but it is the priniciple of the thing. We WILL get that money back! Mainly because we never actually signed a contract!!!
So, I will be defecting to the June 2012 brides chat!! Ive just realised now, that I have less than 10 months!!!! SH*T!!!!
Thanks for all the support over the last few weeks/months. Hope you all have fantastic weddings and are very happy with your spouses!
Take care xxxMarried the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -

Hi Ladies
Im getting married August 18th 2012.:j Ive joined wedding on a budget thread and thought i would join you ladies here too. So far we have booked the church but need to locate our baptism certificates which is proving very difficult for my OH as she was baptised in hospital!! But the lovely hospital chaplin is doing his best for me :-) Our venue is booked and its being refurbished next month so the manager wont take our deposit until we have viewed the refurbishments bless him!
To save money for the wedding breakfast we are having very informal burgers/hotdogs and chips then a normal evening buffet and the chef will do our food at £5per head cheaper if he can manage it!! And best of all my wonderful dad is gonna pay for the venue, food and DJ :A
I will attempt to save money as much as possible by making my own invites and table decor, my family are helping loads and im only having 2 bridesmaids which will save money especially as they will be wearing black so we can have any dresses really.
My OH and I have also decided to do a very special first dance so we will need a few dance lessons which is an added expense but i reckon will be worth it
Anyhow congratualtions to you all and i look forward to sharing your money saving tips
Lollie xx0
