Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 9th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Stupid time to be up on a Sunday morning, I shall go back to bed in a while & try to get some more sleep.
I woke up at 2:30, couldn't get back to sleep & started to panic, about, I kid you not, staples! Why? I have no idea, oh well, I've spent time on my blog & made a cuppa, let's hope I feel tired soon.
Breakfast will be bacon, egg, sausage & mushrooms.
Tea will be roast dinner using left over turkey which was sliced & frozen on Boxing Day.
Yesterday I sorted my larder cupboard out & did some batch cooking, so today when I get up again later I will be mainly sewing.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

OOOHhhh Hester - I'm getting in the car as I type and coming to yours for Breakfast - sounds gorgeous. Hope you manage to get some sleep later.

Was joined by DS2 with a little wet bottom - yuk. My neck is certainly not as painful this morning, but I could still be flying! Sounds horrid outside - wind rain and according to the forecasters snow as well - but I can't see any snow - it normally seems to glow in the dark. Dinner tonight is some sort of wrap - I have some beef strips out of the freezer to use too.
Busy day - off we go again xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Well its sunday again. We have a beef joint today for our dinner.
shall be doing it with roast spuds, carrotts, broc, and homemad yourkshire puddings:j:j
We really enjoyed our chicken curry last night, all the better as we did not have to cook it. All that it envolved was warming it back up.

The twins are still asleep at the moment, looks like they are haveing a bit of a lie in.
They will be going to sunday school this morning then off to my wifes moms for dinner then the MIL will take them to see there great gran and granddad. Ita a real family day for them on a sunday and it gives my wife time to do all there washing, they really do get though there clothes quick:eek::eek: but saying that i really dont see the need any more of them haveing clean jim jams on everynight now they are older. They dont mess them up now like they did when they were small. But my wife still puts them in clean ones every night.

They are very grown up now, the twins:):) tomorrow is there big day that they start pre- school:T:T we are paying for them to go two afternoons a week untill september when they will get the Gov free places for three year olds and they will them have 5 harf days a week.
So goes so fast. they are 3 years old this year. It dose not seem but a couple of months since i could hold them in the palm of my hand. For them that dont know they were born at 30 weeks. Twin one was 3lb 3oz and twin 2 was 2lb 8oz so very small but little fighters.

Anyway thats it for now im off to get another coffee have a grate day evryone:j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j
  • Good morning,
It also sounds horrid outside my house, wind and rain- i've not looked but i can hear. Had a lovely day yesterday- chinese buffet for lunch followed by panto. Going to be spending today doing the housework i didn't do yesterday! I have a large piece of beef to cook, so i'm looking forward to that. Will have LO's tomorrow. Have frozen cauli to go with it as the fresh ones are shockingly dear, quite fancy cauliflower cheese but we will see.

    Morning everyone.

Busy day yesterday, beds stripped, did a tidy round and we decided to go out to here

Have come to the conclusion that although I like the modern day cars like Aston Martin DB5 and the Vanquish if I have to LOOK at cars then I really love the old vintage ones :D They are just so classy looking although I suspect they will never satisfy my need for speed ;):o

Not sure what plans are for today. Need to put the vac round and bake a cake.
All in all a bit dull sorry :o

Halight - Know what you mean about the twins growing up. DD is 3 in July, my poor baby is growing up  Hope they enjoy pre school. My DD keeps asking to go back :rotfl: She'll get her wish Monday morning ;)

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning everyone.

I too was up at silly o'clock, my mother rang me in the middle of the night in a little panic (soon sorted and settled) and that was me then tossing and turning. Woke again about 3.00a.m. and emptied the dishwasher.

Have to go out this morning for a swimming event but will be home again by about lunchtime.

Last night I made the pizza quiche BB and it's amazingly lovely. Mind you I forgot to put the passata on first so it will be more lovely next time. I've portioned it up and stuck most of it in the freezer for lunches, will make it again. Properly next time!

Snow here overnight but it looks rather thin even though it's settled. I can see it melting in the morning sun.

Hope everyone is keeping warm and well.

Another gloriously sunny day here :) it is cold though! Much colder than it looks! I may go for a walk rather than to the gym as I'm a bit achey this morning - body not used to all this exercise!

Today I need to do some uni work, I must must must do some uni work! We start back on Weds and I need to sort my files out, prep some stuff and see when they can come observe me teaching in work.

OS wise - WM is on now, yesterdays laundry needs to be put away (I wish they would invent something to do this!), will hoover all round later. I made celery soup last night so need to blend it and freeze in portions. I'll have some for lunch today probably and the rest for lunches in work. If I can be bothered I'll make a veggie roast dinner, if not I'll probably make pasta bake for tea.

    Have a great day all

Good Morning all. I am not a regular poster but do lurk quite a lot. We have Roast Pork today. Bought a joint for £8.00 which, when I cut it up will make three roast dinners plus I hope enough for cold the next day. Very pleased with this as looking at the other pork joints Mr T had they were £7 or £8 for a small joint and last time we had a similar joint it was very nice.
Accounts today. :( Not looking forward to it as I know the situation is not good at the moment. Paying British gas £143 every month is crippling us but we have cleared half the arrears (their fault - long story) in three months and they said it would take a year and are a month into the next quarter and having read the meter we are on track to clear it all in Feb then I can change supplier and hopefully pay a lot less.

On the positive side I found DH savings bank book that he was panicking about and blaming me as I usually file such things. He didnt believe me when I told him he didnt give it to me after last use. It was in the glove box of his car. One up to me.:rotfl:
