I think Ive just discovered a way to give a joint gift to my best friend and her hub without breaking the bank
think ill be looking for a jar or a box to fill with retro sweets like swizzles etc and might get some small selection boxes (4 for £3 in poundland) and take them apart and add them
Think that might be my crafty thing for the week,
Now I just need to find a big jar or something to place it all in
Like the idea of the box compartments but think that might look too small.
Just had a thought - I got some jars of jelly bean factory jelly beans last year for xmas (they were reduced in Whittards) might recycle those and add sweeties to themLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

Me again - Do you think a Vase from Morrisons or Tescos cheap range would be alright to use as a container for the sweets??
Im thinking if i buy a vase and fill it with sweets then the vase is reusable through out the year with flowers etc and might be better instead of using a box or one of those diy things.
Will go price up in Morrisons and Asda tomorrow.
Quite like the idea of using a vase - maybe one of those ones thats square but has a twist effect on it
What do you all think??Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,

I filled the base with oasis and used wooden skewers covered in florist tape to cover to secure the sweets as florist wire is not strong enough. I then filled the gaps with cello. Hope this helps
Can i ask how do you do the cellophane coming out of yours like thatI Love My Computer Because My Friends Live In It0 -

I cut small squares of cellophane approx 6 inches by 6 inches (roughly) made them into a cone shape and then slotted them in between the sweets.
Hope I have explained this okay?Little Miss Chatterbox

Thanks Shelley love the way you have the cellophane coming out of yours, did try to do this with mine but couldnt get it to look right so gave up in the end. Dont think it looks too bad for a first attempt though, the choc bars are a bit of a pain to stay facing forwards, had to put 2 skewers on the back of some to stop them turning. Have a go if its anything like your other one will be stunning. Make sure you put on some pics though.

I am so glad it is not just me!!! ... I nearly threw the whole lot in the bin cause mine wouldn't stay forward! ... Might try the 2 skewers ... I might even try and put them together this week!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Hi everyone..
I love this thread, my dp loves sweets! so am thinking of doing him something along the lines of what you've all done here....
Just got a question... If I was to get a large jar, jam jar etc and empty lots of mixed sweets in (out of their packets) do you think they would keep ok - if I made it up early before christmas or should I wait til much nearer the time?
Going to get a nice christmassy ribbon to go round the top of the jar :j
TIA

They might be ok. I've done my sons retro sweet box and the sweets in that aren't wrapped. Did the Easter ones for my grandchildren in advance as well and they were fine.
Does depend on the sort of sweets I suppose.Mary

I am going to make my OH a retro sweet jar but I was wondering the same thing - if the sweets (etc) would last if I made it now?
Don't want to hang on too long, am very impatient :rotfl:=====================================
