They look really good Debbie
.
I haven't been able to find any boxes at Maplins/Woolworths/Tesco etc but today when I wasn't looking I walked into a local cheap shop and lo and behold there were stacks of the them for £1.29. Three slots either side with one long slot in the middle - perfect! :j0 -
I felt rather pleased when I bought some rather snazzie boxes that will hold about 10 DVDs in their cases, for 99p each. Then....Sod's Law.....saw the sectioned boxes in a cheapie shop a couple of days later! I was very good & resisted the temptation to scream.......Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

A variation on the theme:
Includes sweets such as refreshers, blackjack, fruit salad, flumps, dibdabs, sherbert fountains, rainbow drops etc, "things" such as mini slinky, a 10 colour pen, sharks toothache game, keyring etc and a CD of 90's songs. Think it came to about £15 including the box (A leather CD box from Morrisons)
The thing is, the factory where most of these "retro" sweets are made, Swizzels Matlow, is in the town where I grew up and where the friend that it's for still lives and so most of the goodies can be got quite readily (and cheaply) from the factory shop so they're not as retro as perhaps in other places!! lol.0 -

OMG those labels were sure stuck on it took me over an hour of constant rubbing with nail varnish remover then soapy water then back to the nail varnish remover over and over again in the end had to resort to the scouring pad too and even that took ages luckily they havnt been damaged too much and I just filled them
now all I need to do is decorate them

Hi Im new to this but thought the sweet box idea was great!
Ive just been into Woolworths this afternoon and picked up two ten part organiser boxes for £1 each from the Worth It bit in the household section. One has a black bottom the other has a yellow bottom, and you can move the dividers around to make your own compartments.
Only one problem is the label is difficult to remove!
I also picked up some sweets for 39p a bag. I normally buy branded sweets but the ones I got again from woolies tasted absolutely fine.
I got
Dairy Toffee
Midget Gems
Liquorice Allsorts
Mint Imperials
Fruit Drops.
So for two boxes its cost me £1.98 each
Im going to finish these off with a printed tag and some ribbon.
I reckon a good business could be started from this say selling to friends and relatives.
They look really good when finished and could easily sell for a fiver.
What do you all reckon?0 -

the boxes in the earlier post at the top of this page are these took me at least an hour of scrubbing to get the stupid labels off:rotfl:Mortgage overpayments 2008 (started August) £3000 -
Hiya, got this idea from somewhere on here I think and also google "popcorn bouquet" . Just given this and the receiver loved it and so many people commented on it. Perhaps its a different slant for retro stuff for next year??
It cost 1.50 for pot, 75p for oasis and then £2 for retro sweets and bought 3 for £5 of large selection boxes in Woolworths, so probably cost £10 but there is so much in it.
Have posted on hamper thread too but actually think its better here. Whaddya think?
EDIT - WOOOOOOHOO! FInally managed to post them, dont ask me to resize them cos I aint got a clue how to! Thanks to Emms for the advice

My DS had a fundraising day at school yesterday. He ran a little competition using "BopIt" and came home today announcing he'd need some sweets as prizes for the runners up. He wanted me to buy some sweets but I thought I'd make use of the sweets left over from halloween and the craft bits and bobs I had lying around at home.
I made some 'mini bouquets'. I took a plastic drinks cup and made holes in the base using a skewer. I arranged the sweets in the holes. I then covered the cup using tissue paper and decorated with sticky dots. I used curling ribbon to add a bit of sparkle. Finally I used some cello bags I had from a few years ago as the final touch.
