You folk ooop norrf are soooo lucky with your shops...Our closest Asdas are a 50min car ride away in either direction & neither served by public transport. And you can forget Poundstretcher & the like:( Hence the address bit in my avi! Of course we are loaded wiv dosh dan 'ere innit, n we pays fur the reel jubba innit.....NOT!:rotfl:
Went to our nearest 'big' town & couldn't find any boxes either, so got to thinking about other things to use as containers. Do you think a nice glass would work? Perhaps a jokey pint for the lads & those nice ones on coloured stems for the lasses? Also thought about those little tool boxes as a 'his n hers' version for a couple....the folk I have in mind for this one is he adores candy floss so the bottom layer would be ideal for him, & she likes anything with chocolate so the tray for her!
BTW...my prediction about me muvva was spot on:rotfl: ! I told her I was doing them for the offspring & immediately she starts going on about what to do with the box afterwards....perhaps I'll look for a little glass vase or something
 A selection of dried herbs & spices for a crafty cook! Packs of seeds for a gardener!
I like the idea of using the garden twine, raffia, ribbons, etc to decorate the boxes, cuz you don't know what folk would like to use them for afterwards.
Good Luck everyone.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

BigMummaF - although at the other end of the country, I empathise completely as we don't have any shops that you mention either!
I got my boxes here:

I ordered ten and they said they would have to wait for stock - but I got the boxes in about a week. They accept paypal as well, which is great if you have a balance to use, rather than using 'proper' money...0 -
Am definitely going to do these this year. Popped into BHS yesterday, and was astounded at the price of their sweets.
There was 3 shertbet fountains and a dip-dab sherbet in a plastic bag for £3.00. In another bag about 20 twenty fruit salad chews and black jacks for £3.00. Extortionate!!!0 -

Last year I made my two boys boxes of sweets but I also made them a glass with micky mouse on £2.00 from the disney shop filled with bubbly gums which they also loved.
This year my 10 year old d/s wants a box of jelly bellys  which in tk max are £15 so i think that im going to buy a couple of bags for £3 each which will have more weight in them than the box and fill last years box with them, I cant bring myself to pay £15 for a box of jelly belly sweets. I was also thinking of making a chocolate theme for my 14 year old d/s but any suggestions what I can put the chocolate in, I thought of a bin so that he can use it later any other suggestions?0 -

I love those Maplin ones with their own lid on each section. Think I'll have to invest in some of those. Thanks!0 -
