Tesco has large buckets of Swizzel sweets for 9.99 which would have been great for the boxes if you are doing lots. Howevr also found bags of swizzel sweets drunkstick parma violets refreshers etc for about 80p in there - big sized ones too. ideal for these boxes HTH

  • This is a bit old style but..... eucalyptus oil will remove most sticky stuff.

    Woohoo! My first post! :D
It might damage the plastic though:(

Love this thread. I've not read all of it but of the three pages I have read there are some fab ideas. Lidl are good for bags of sweets and things. I picked up a load of little Haribo bags half price in Wilkinsons for the trick or treaters but they'd be useful for this too. Love the idea of jewellery and making my own (which I generally do a bit of anyway!)

How about dried fruit and nuts? Perhaps with mixed choc drops as well?

I'll have to find some more cheapy boxes as the ones I bought have got my crystals in for my course.
  • Home bargains have got some good sweets in. just got a couple of packs of flying saucers 29p each and some chocolate limes 34p:T
    Back Comping after a 2yr break! :j
  • got my box yesterday from The Range. It cost £1.99, is quite small but has 18 compartments, and i'd guess that 3 sweets would fit in each compartment!

I then got the sweets on offer in asda. Regular bags of haribo (original, fizzy, kiddies mix and maoams) 2 bags for £1!

    Hope this helps somebody!
A good friend can tell you what is the matter with you in a minute ...:A
  • Thanks for the brilliant ideas

I got the little box out of woolies and filled it with space dust 79p woolies and 2 bags from pound shop - 1 containing mini wham bars and the other retro sweets like parma voilets and drumsticks.

I have now put in my 80's retro basket which also contains dvds of 80's cartoons and a dvd i bought on ebay with adverts from the 80's.

Hope my brother likes his christmas present.

Have just been to woolies and got my boxes :) thanks

I think they have superglued the worth it label on tho :D is there a quick way of getting the labels off without using a scouring pad even if you soak in water the glue is still there.

Just need to get the sweeties was thinking of taking the dividers out of one section and maybe putting some pens or maybe you can think of something else? They are for 2 10 year old boys.

My sister did a chemistry degree and passed on a useful tip that nail varnish remover will quickly clean up most sticky marks. I've tried it and it works a treat on plastic like CD boxes where the labels have left sticky spots. (It also cleans up dried on markerpen marks on whiteboards when the writing has been left on too long!)

What a great thread! Just thought I'd 'try' and contribute - Swapitshop.com have a sweet shop. So if you have lots of the codes you could buy a few packets from there. There is actually quite a good selection ;)

  • I got lovely ones in Hobbycraft today. 12 compartments for 99p and 18 for £2.50. I bought some of both but they were flying off the shelves. We have an old fashioned sweet shop in totton, and went in with one of the boxes as a trial. The staff there were really helpful (2 teenage lads so just goes to show) With their help I now have a Pink themed box to give to my daughter this wednesday for her birthday. Shrimps, smarties, pink pigs, dolly mixtures ect. It looks amazing.
Cost approx £6 inc box and sweets and ribbon
I think I am going slightly mad.....
