Emma - I would try your local haberdasher or John Lewis is brill. I have lots of odd buttons but not a set for you i'm afraid.
So I've had my grey done!! All coloured lovely but surprised that I have used the same colour and brand for the last 3 times and yet it's much darker! Luckily I love it.0 -
I went to the local fabric shop which 2 dress making recommended but the only pearl buttons they had were too small.
Im going to see if they have the Cath Kidson ones in my local Cath Kidson store so I can see how they are colour wise, and see what size they are- I really hope they are just right though.
Thanks for the help so far and if anyone thinks of anywhere else to look just let me know. (I would never had thought to look in John Lewis, I didnt realise they did buttons etc!!:D)0 -
Oh balls, we wanted to get a present for my bestie who's writing and officiating the non-legal bit. I have NO IDEA what to get her.I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.0

If it helps, we're thinking of athames and a moon gazing hare pendant (a design we're using on all our wedding stationary and OH is hoping to embroider on her dress)0 -
Ghostlove - How about an engraved glass - a wine glass, whisky glass or whatever she would use? You'd need to be quick with the engraving though.
Also a compact morror, engraved or not.
Or a necklace.
Or something more specific to the ceremony/what she likes - any pointers?0 -
Bwahaha! OK, to appreciate this I need to tell you that as well as being filtered by month, my wedding to-do list is coloured by type of job (blue = pay people, yellow= talk to someone, pink = choose something, green = make something etc):D
Anyway.... There are no green things left on my list - all the making is done!
10 and a half things left(we have bought some presents and don't have the right size gift boxes for them - I refuse to count that as a whole thing to do
)

btw MrsDrink, did you notice that today someone resurrected your old dress hunt diary post - posted exactly a year ago today! A year ago you had just picked your dress :jand now you'll be wearing it really soon!
Also my (potentially inaccurate) 10 day weather forecast, says your wedding day will be the only dry one of the next ten! Fingers crossed for lovely weather for us all:beer:0 -
Hi everyone!!!
I'm almost finished the promise book, just need to do a few more pages and decorate the front cover.
We had a few visitors this evening (interrupting my crafting lol) and they brought us very generous gifts, I was really touched.
I still have to do a few things, am going to have to assemble the table plan at the venue on Thurs (eek) as it's not going to be printed till then, so it'll have to be something simple...FutureCooper wrote: »My mum is 61 and his parents are both 73. His mum is what i call a label snob and size does matter. If one person had more than her she'd soon say something!! So i think i'm safer buying the same gift for sets. My mum wouldn't expect anything and she'll be over moon with the handmade favors.
Hmmm, think that the bushes would be best then, and it is a really lovely idea. :AWanchai, that sounds lovely! we used individual letter stamps to print our place settings, but used a bulldog clip to hold them together so we could print whole words at a time. It saved so much time! Annoyingly it was OH's idea :rotfl:
*back to lurking for me I think* Not long now, ladies - am very excited for you!
I could do this, but (1) it spaces the letters too widely apart and (2) I quite like them being not totally in line, just like an old wonky typewriterBut thanks for the suggestion! It might help someone else xxx

Wow, you win the prize for most organised person!!! :rotfl: Well done on finishing the making xxx
Emma - definitely try a local haberdashery for the buttons, you don't want to be waiting for delivery or worried that they won't be the right colour! Good luck xxx
Natalie - happy first dress anniversary! It's our first anniversary of being engaged tomorrow
I'm off to bed soon, going to try to catch up on a lot of missed sleep from last night. Second hair trial in the morning, followed by trying on dress again with my hairdo! :T7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

(Easier than typing it all out again).
I really do hope it is not raining here. To be honest though I actually don't care about our wedding day. Obviously it'd be nice if it wasn't raining as I do want a photo of us outside with the local church spire in the background (local landmark). BUT I am rather stressed about the party's weather.
According to Accuweather's long term (25 days) forecast for my postcode it is:
7/17/2012..............Mostly cloudy with a shower
7/21/2012..............A shower in the a.m.; cloudy
But it is changing pretty much daily from showers to rain. Lol have yet to see any hint of sunshine!
PS 7 sleeps to go for me. CANNOT believe that it now 1 week away. Gulp!0
