Oh, im sure its not just you being ocd, im the same, i hate things not being matching, being the right shade of colour etc but im sure it would only be us brides that notice- like my friend is getting married next month and was looking at buying some ribbon to make bows for the pews in church but was worrying the werent going to match- and I pointed out that people really wont be looking at the riibon thinking they dont match the bridemaid dresses they will be thinking wow the bride looks stunning.
Well there has never been anything really that we have wanted or needed so although we never spend a fortunate each week they have slowly added up, i just hope I like one of the rings.0 -
I think it's a really sensible use of your vouchers!
And you are VERY right - noone will really care if they are the wrong shadesTo be honest I'm not all*that* bothered if my burgundies are all slightly different - as long as they are reddy burgundy, rather than purply burgundy. Plus the only person who will really ever put all the shades next to each other to be able to see they are slightly different is me - when I'm making it all. While everything is spread out around the garden or spread out in terms of time - the invites being sent out in Feb, and then coming to the party and seeing a different shade of burgundy napkins.
Lol which leads me on to napkins. We're going to be using paper plates. I was thinking of just putting plate, napkin, plate, napkin etc on the side to make the buffet queue faster. But this is sooo unpretty!! So now I'm looking at how I can roll them up...and then started looking at napkin rings... lol. I should stop - else it could end up expensive lol0 -
Oh now youve got me thinking. I quite like the idea of something like this which I can then take home and use in my dining room:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cream-butterfly-napkin-holder-brand-new-boxed-/320683341362?pt=UK_Kitchen_Accessories&hash=item4aaa377632
The colour thing- thats what i decided last night when i was realised that my invite inserts are different to my dresses which will then be the same colour pink as most things on the day- no one apart from me will probably even notice.
Mil2b seems very excited now we have the dresses and we are going to where she works next friday to pick out some bits, so hopefully next friday ill have more of an idea what flowers ill be having.:j0 -

Happy Planning!
My SMIL is making my cake for freeSorry Leni - but I've had to report this postunfortunately it's against the board rules to self-promote.
How are you all doing? Lots of fun weddingy things? Lol I'm having my first panic - wondering whether my decorations are going to be enough!! To the point where on Monday I'm going to make a plan of the downstairs of our house and map our where my balloons/paper hearts/chairs and things will go! I really want it to look super special not just 'oh come round for a BBQ' kinda thing. I have decided sod it - I'm going to get some organza in burgundy to do some bows on my white plastic chairs - part of me wishes I could justify spending more on the chairs and say getting nice cushioned wooden ones. But really who is going to complain?! I think bows on them will just help link them in. Going to use all 44 paper hearts round the backgarden, put some cloud 9s scattered throughout downstairs/the gardens. The gazebos with bows on their legs - and possibly a paper heart in the middle of the openings. then there is the garden torches with bows on. I want it to look kinda like this: http://www.mjdecorations.com/Weddings/Wedding-Reception-Decoration/IMG3125/663610568_XmfLv-M.jpg but in my backgarden rather than inside - and without tables lol.
I cant wait to see pictures of your day it sounds wonderful.
we have had a busy day in the garden today but spent the evening on ebay with my best friend (and MOH) i am going to do a sweet buffet... ive got 6 large jars - these large ones http://www.douwe-egberts.co.uk/Products/Instantcoffees/Pages/instantpuregold.aspx?hpid=world-simply-pure and im going to buy my sweets bits at a time. i am just going to have white paper bags and get these with a thank you on and date etc to stick on the bags http://www.vistaprint.co.uk/vp/ns/easypath/studio.aspx?pf_id=083&combo=143702.142.1.176548%7c176548%7c137%7c0&uei=190180&icparts=yes&ag=true&combo_id=195260&ssc=1&ag_category_id=897&filter=14%3a10024%7c%7c1%2c14%3a10025%7c%7c1%2c9%3a10013%7c%7c1%2c3%3a10023%7c%7c1%2c4294938004%3a4294937095%3a4294937041%7c%7c2&xnav=previews&xnid=button&rd=3&ref=1&referer=http%3a%2f%2fwww.vistaprint.co.uk%2freturn-address-labels%2fwedding%2fgallery.aspx%3fpg%3d4%26filter%3d4294938004%253a4294937095%253a4294937041%257c%257c2%252c14%253a10024%257c%257c1%252c14%253a10025%257c%257c1%26page%3d1%26pagesize%3d24%26sort%3dp_TO_UK!desc%26xnav%3dgn%26xnid%3d895

Emma - Oh that napkin holder is lovely! Part of me thinks all things shabby chic/tea gardeny is lovely. I am really liking the whole lacy cream dainty fairy English garden themes - but they really don't match the modern clean cut lines of the things I have already planned - and I am not going back lol. Plus it'd end up costing loads to have something along these lines: http://www.lisadawn.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/tea-party-table-rep0507-de.jpg.pagespeed.ce.MUgS58lE1i.jpg
And I bet you can't wait till next Friday when you look at bits and bobs
LauraR -My SMIL is making my cake for free
Links workedIsn't MSE great for shortening long links! I knew the shape of the jars as soon as I saw the link. They are really fab and pretty!! Have you thought about what sorts of sweeties you're going to have? Are you going to try to tie them into your colour scheme or just go with your faves? (Lol my all time favourite sweetshop sweet is rhubarb and custard).
Re: Buffet and plates and things. I'm going to get white paper (or plastic depending on cost) plates, burgundy napkins, plastic forks (do people really need a plastic knife?) plastic wine glasses, plastic tumblers, plastic tumblers. We'll have loads of ice as well - am thinking of turning our sink into a giant ice bucket to keep beers cold. At least with our party being at 6pm onwards the hottest part of the day will have been and gone. I'm going to serve all the food in silver (tin foil) platters from tescos. The worktops will be hidden by white table cloths, and scattered between the platters will be the usual table decorations - possibly a couple of spare gerberas, and some burgundy table confetti. Very exciting!!I want to get married NOW! Lol.

Hello- hows everyones day been? Has anyone done anything wedding related? I havent! I am debating whether to order a tiara from debenhams thats I really like but cant make up my mind! And I was just nosing at a local wedding car company on facebook and they have just put up some pics of a recent wedding - and I swear the bride has the same dress as mine- after so many long searches I randomly spotted this and Im so sure its the same!!
I havent even thought yet about plates, napkins etc.
Oh I had a wedding related dream last night- that it was the morning of the wedding and my mum hadnt been to the butchers and ordered the cold meats, my dress hadnt been altered and it was just a big choatic mess as nothing was done!!:rotfl:0 -
Ha don't they say dreams are often the opposite of reality? Like dreaming about a death means there's going to be a birth? Maybe your dream means it's going to be the most well organised and perfect wedding ever
Oooo share the piccies!! So we can see what sort of dress yours is even if it isn't the exact one!!
Ah now - tiaras - what about the glitzy secret one (was that the site?) Do you like the Deb ones as much? Or are you settling? Is it cheaper?Don't want you making a decision to then regret it
I haven't done anything weddingy. There really is very little I could do. Gutting. I do keep googling wedding images though!! I'm wishing the next however many weeks fly by so I can do dress shopping with my mum!! I really want to know how much the Donna Lee Designs Alice dress is but I can't find it anywhere on the internet - other than on DLDs website - and they aren't going to say how much it is (I did email a cheeky email but they said to go to a local stockist - I've tried emailing them too but they haven't replied). I want to know whether it is feasible or whether it's totally out of my budget and I can start dreaming about a different dress. It's not on anywhere like ebay/preloved either! Grrr! (I might go and see if anyone can find it on the find my dress thread).0 -
She does one that is named after me.
It is a very pretty dress... shame about the length! (Remember I want a short one). http://www.donnaleedesigns.co.uk/diva-collection/natalie.html
*Okay so it's probably named after Natalie Wood (being in her diva collection and all) who is apparently who my mum named me after.0 -
I do hope so! I cant be doing with stressing on the day!!
Well i really like this one aswell- and it would probably give me more options hair wise. I think i wont order it yet and will go in store and have a look, then wait as im sure they will have plenty of offers between now and the wedding. Plus this one is very similar to the bridesmaids but is 3 rows of pearls and diamontes so would tie in with them. I do style wise love the glitzy secrets one a bit more but am a bit worried ill be stuck on how to have my hair!!
It does seem to be a brand that there isnt much avaliable 2nd hand to even gauge an idea of how much it was brand new. Not sure it they will have anything that you like, but if the donna lee dress is way too much you could have a look on websites like honeypie boutique who do reasonable prices 50s inspired wedding dresses.0 -
Lol I do keep drooling over the honeypie website! Lol. I just can't wait till the 30th July so I can go and try on the Alice dress with my mum. I'm actually sooooo impressed that I have managed to wait this long and didn't just go straight out and try it on back in February when the bridal shop I'm off to visit with mum emailed me about it!!
WOW February!! It is nearly 2 months ago since I booked the date with my mum and two shops to go try on dresses! Where has that time gone?! It's only just over 3 more to wait! I hope they fly as quick.
Lol now I want to see the tiara you're looking at on Debenhams!0
