Anyone have any tips for men? Was thinking of getting OH some face stuff for fathers day as I know he'd like to look good for the wedding and won't be covering up with make up like me!!
I'd also love to hear what all your beauty regimes are in the run up. I'm no good at this beauty stuff! Have made myself try harder though, starting with all my new cowshed stuff for my face. It is SO nice, I enjoy washing my face now! mmmmmm.
There are plenty of nice mens ranges - don't buy anything to perfumed or strong though as he might react to it if he doesn't normally use anything! I've bought OH some Simple moisturiser and an eye cream and taught him how to use it lol.
Also I don't know whether this is a bit effeminate or not but I'm also toying with the idea of trying out a primer on him :rotfl: you know one of the mattifying ones that don't actually show up but they do even skin out nicely, how he's take the idea I don't know lol!
It was a lovely wedding yesterday, the bride looked beautifulI felt a bit worse for wear this morning though, had to stop off at Maccy D's this morning for hash browns and coke!
Arm worry people - are you doing any kind of weight training? My arms are still bigger than I'd like them to be but they are so toned up since I've been doing combat (from all the punching) and pump. I never had results from using weights before but apparently the trick is to use HEAVY weights - so not baked bean tins! Get in the gym and pump some iron lol!

This is exactly how I feel about my arms- they arent small at all, but they are fairly toned and not as wobbly as they used to be. I do cross trainer at the gym- using the arm part as much as much then I try and do as many arm weight units as possible. Wanchai- I was saw on a program that those stretchy band things are good for arm toning, could be worth a try.
Well it took me an hour to get home so not quite so bad- but I did leave early so I think that helped!!0 -
I hope you dont mind but Im going to start putting my food diary on here again, it really helped me a few months ago when I lost 12lb, and although Ive maintained the loss (despite being rubbish recently) I would like to reach a stone and maintain that until the wedding.
Food today was:
Breakfast: banana, nectarine and yoghurt drink (by the time I got to work and sat down I didnt want my cereal) oh and a single time out
Lunch: salad consisting of green leaves, cucumber, toms, beetroot, spring onions, radishes and some chicken breast and a little bit of light mayo
Snack: one satsuma
Dinner: new potatoes, some chicken breast in breadcrumb things, salad (as above) a tiny bit of cheese and a small spoonful of coleslaw and potato salad0 -
Sounds like we're all on the salad today - me too!
I went easy on the syrup on my porridge today, soup & roll for lunch, fishcake salad for tea (and half a toffee crisp - ssssh!)
Sorry your second fitting was so upsetting wanchai. I hope mine isn't - when they eventually call me for it!
My OH doesn't use any man potions, so I have nothing to contribute there!
I've found it increasingly difficult to move today after circuits yesterday! Hopefully I'll be fully mobile tomorrow in time for body balance.
Paid off most of the venue cost today - just our additional guests above minimum numbers to pay for next month. Our one non-replier has been emailed to say respond by next weekend or we assume you're not coming. Excited about having so many lovely friends and family in one room0 -

I'm not a July bride (have to wait until January, boo) but...for those with wobbly arms then I thoroughly recommend either swimming breast stroke or having a play with kettle bells at the gym. Both will give quick results without bulking you up. Worth a shot for those who feel that time is marching on until the big day.
That said, once you have the dress on, you will all look beautiful anyway!0 -
Well it's a good job I'm having my ring plated and polished - I've just dripped gloss over it. Ooops!! I have given it a bit of a wipe with some white spirit but I daren't give it a good soak. Will let the professionals deal with it - lol in the mean time I must remember to take it off. But this means I have been painting tonight
Have finished the downstairs skirting and arcatrives.
Bare wood will need three coats. Will do upstairs skirting and arcatrives first before tackling the stair case.
*sigh* a womans (brides) work...0 -
I'll join you Emma.
(I've been writing them in a word document since Easter - but may be extra motivation if write it on here).
B – Branflakes, wheatabix, dried fruit & skimmed milk.
L – Cockaleekie soup
T – Sausage pasta bake
S – 1 hotel chocolat choc
Wanchai - well done!! You must be doing something right. Clearly I would never advocate a crash diet - but for 5 weeks you can do it, shift it, and then go back to eating sensibly. May I ask how much you are now as it's been a while since you updated your signature - it might be motivational to update it? (BUT I thoroughly understand wanting to bury your head). x0 -
Oh and I have a recommended tricep exercise - I find it more effective that the usual stuff. (I use 2kg weights).
Lay on the floor, hold one weight in each arm, hold you arms up towards the ceiling, inline with your shoulders, with your palms facing each other. Then without moving your upper arm SLOWLY bend your elbows and allow the weights to CONTROLLED drop to the side of your head, then SLOWLY move them back up (again without moving your upper arms). This kills me, I can do a lot less of them than I can your normal tricep exercises. x0 -
I LOVE that exercise
The trick is to keep your elbows tucked in
The other good one is doing dips off the side of a chair - SOOOO hard! I can only do about 3 then I collapse lol!
