  • oh those cakes sounds yum Mel. Im really craving a big slice of chocolate fudge cake at the mo. I would usually give myself a treat but im going for a chinese tomorrow so wont give in.

Can someone on pinterest send me an invite (is that how it works??) Im looking at the mo and would like to start my own one -ive seen some pics of cakes that I was going to show my cake lady- its isnt exactly what I want but i will be able to show her and explain exactly what I do want- then I will leave it to her to come up with something fab!

Mel- personally I think if theres any chance you think they could mis-understand and think the kids are invited I would just expalin when you give the invites out, or if you dont want to directly say about not wanting kids you could just say your really limited on numbers so have unfortunately had to say no kids.
  • I'll send u an invite Emma. pm me your email address :)

confession - I was very naughty last night and had a dominos. It was going to happen sooner or later - I was beginning to obsess over it, but it's done. Today is a fresh day, I have 3 days to eat well to get rid of the little bit of weight and water retention this will have put on me. :)

Mel1 - I would speak to the people involved first - tell them they will be receiving their invites shortly and explain that it will be a no-child event. Then send them the invite. That way you're not having to write anything on the invite, but everything will be crystal clear. I always think anything sensitive like this is always best said face to face (or at the least phone to phone), than in print. That way you can get across your reasons better and answer any questions they have about it rather than digging a hole with words and not being able to counter argue. :)

PS MrD's ring has arrived!! It's sat at the postal collection place waiting for us to go pick it up! :T

Oh and a more local table place can do the tables for £54 including delivery and collection - I've emailed him back to double check he can deliver the day before and collect the day after, then I'll book him. Mel - nope can't borrow any tables (plus they'd be really low and not round) from school because I don't 'have' a school - I'm a peri and would feel awkward about asking to borrow tables during the week during term time, while I'm bunking off :rotfl:.

I've been busy this week and got myself into planning mode! Needed to happen eventually! I now have hen do, entertainment for evening and chair covers booked. Got a few things still to sort - mens outfits, flowergirls outfits, flowers, favours ceremony plan and photographer so will try and do those this next couple of weeks. Actually maybe that's quite a lot!Does anyone have a good list of things you have sorted to see what i've missed?

MrD's ring is fab!! Soooo pleased with it - unfortunately I have to wait till 5:30ish before he'll be home to try it on and check he likes it!! (I'm not certain but I think the bevelled edge isn't quite as pronounced as the ring he chose in town... fingers crossed he likes it and it fits!) It is a massive ring through - it won't even stay on my thumb!

I am going to play around with photographing our rings together. I suspect I won't end up going for the shot of my ring inside his - although I love the symbolism of that shot. Visually it just doesn't look right. Instead I think I'll go for a shot of my ring overlapping his ring in the palm of his hand. :D I don't think he realises what being a model for me is going to entail :rotfl:

Ooo and while I was at the post office I also picked up our giant pick up sticks - they are fab!! :D They are made of wood and the finish on them isn't perfect - but still they will do the job perfectly. Lol I can see us playing with them in the lounge tonight. (Bloody hell it aint half cold out there!! Car said -6 when I went out - and that was with it sat in the sun for a bit!!)

Okay pbny24 - here is my list:

Gifts (cufflinks for Granddad - got, framed photo for parents will be sorted after we get the photos back from our photographer)
Seating (30 chairs and 5 tables - need to finalise the tables and pay remainder off)
Photographer & Writable CDs for guests' photos (need to pay the rest of the photographer)
Hair (need to finalise how I will have my hair and sort out a hair clip - I'm doing my own hair)
Jewellery (need to take my colleague to see the bling on my dress and commission some jewellery)
Alcohol/Drinks (just need a small bit of beer, and then it's just fizzy stuff to get for kids)

    Things that are sorted

Invites & Thank you Cards & Stamps (oooo only 4 more sleeps till I can post them!)
    MrD's shoes

I was thinking - about the table cloths and the weight of the organza meaning it would be very flappy in a slight breeze - I wonder whether I could sew (ha) the two of them together. :D
  • Hey everyone. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Natalie- thats a good price for the tables. With the table cloths rather than properly sewing them could you do a few loose stitches as and when needed- Im thinking they would be easy to unpick if you were planning on selling them on to get some money back.

Well after being relatively good for a few good weeks I treated myself at the chinese yesterday! It was so tasty! So im hoping for a maintain this week!

I gave out one invite yesterday- to my sister (chief bridesmaid) and her oh as we were going round yesterday, I cant wait to hand out the rest now.

Natalie- did MrD like his ring and does it fit?

Yes and yes :D Sooooo pleased!! :D I am spending the afternoon photographing them. I've already made a start - have started with a shot of them in the palm of my hand inside each other - but have run out of battery so waiting for them to charge. I think when I resume I will move onto placing my ring so it slightly overlaps his and see what I think to those photos. By the end of the day I should have a decent enough photo to share with you all :) (Am also thinking of getting a decent close up of MrD's ring to show you all the beveled edge.) - Will also be sending Steve at theweddingringspecialist an email to say a big thanks for doing a bespoke ring so reasonably!

Well MrD is busy in his man cave (aka the garage) he's treated himself to a slab of worktop and some end panels from B&Q so he's busy making himself a work top.

It is really quiet in here this weekend!!

    My jobs for half term:
Phone up and book the restaurant for my 'hen do'
    Post invites (yaaaay)
Email maps & directions as and when receive RSVPs
Confirm the hire of some tables
Get my hair dyed red again (woo hoo)
Get my hair booked in for after we come back from honeymoon and before we go to my brother's wedding.
Tack (good idea Emma) the organza runners to the table cloths.
