Hi all
I'm feeling a bit more positive todayReally need to get cracking on so many things but will try to take them one at a time and stay calm
PinkPrincess83 wrote: »:j I lost 1.5lb this week. Really hoping I can maintain a small lose each week, will be aiming for 1lb a week but even 0.5lb would be good. (I tried whispering this but my net book wouldnt let me- whisper as Im too scared Ill mess up and eat crap again soon!!)
Natalie- Im glad you linked that page as I thought I was going mad or having deja vu when I read that thread.:D
Wanchai- I agree with Natalie about photos. I have gone with someone who takes nice photos but isnt mega expensive and there are more creative and photographers about, but for me it was decided by 1) budget and 2) that Im not that into photos but would like one or 2 nice ones of us. I do agree with others, I think the most a student could charge would be for expenses. Have you tried local vw clubs? Or considered an old style beetle- ive seen them before in cream as a wedding car and they look fab.
Alice (wxy) do we get photos? sounds like youve had a really productive few weeks.
Have been round mil2bs tonight and have decided Im going for baby pink sashes on my chair covers. So I think ill get some baby pink card to go with my table names and will incorporate in the stationary that will be on display on the day.
Oooh, baby pink will be lovelyIs OBEM influencing you perhaps? :rotfl:
Re VW - I must seek out some local clubs and see if they can help us - thanks for the idea.
Re photos - I agree, each to their own. For us, the photos were #1 priority so we are spending quite a bit on them but we are happy with that as we want *amazing* wedding pics. Other things, such as the cake, are waaaay less important to us, so we're scrimping on those to make up for splurging elsewhere.I
pearly77 - I read your article on photography in pure horror!!!! That poor bride, OMG I've never seen such awful pics in my life. I'm sure she cried her eyes out over them.FutureCooper wrote: »I am known as Mel to all my friends i only use Melanie when i answer the phone at work and attend meeting!

Well i too watched TV last night and cried for 2 hours. I watched DIY sos followed by One born every minute. Made me go all broody again . . . H2B said No!!!:rotfl:
I have feeling i am going to be throwing a mini strop later. (not wedding related, sorry) because I had a 'pre weigh in', weigh in this morning. The scales actually read 0.5lb heavier. I have been saintly all week again. 100%. I have written down absolutely everything that has gone in my mouth, yet still i'm not losing. I haven't done any exercise beacuse of my achilles. It is still swollen and i am not looking for any excuses but maybe the water around my ankle is showing on the scales?? Am i sounding desperate for an excuse as to why its not moving? I am soooo disheartened and could just stuff a big fat belgian bun in my mouth
Weigh in at 5.30pm, strop at 5.35pm, cake in mouth by 6.00pm and crying with despair at having to be fat forever by 6.10pm. x
Awwww!!!!!!!! Don't worry Mel, just keep doing what you've been doing and you will be fine! My friend has lost 2 stone in 6 months and she's had all sorts of up-down blips on the scales but she has stuck at it! I'm so proud of her, hope her motivation rubs off on me (and you!)
p.s. why did you cry at DIY SOS? :rotfl:7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Ewww ewww ewww I'm with you I don't know who even thought it was a good idea to put that sort of thing on telly! It's like that embarrassing bodies thing - who ACTUALLY wants to watch it!FutureCooper wrote: »I am known as Mel to all my friends i only use Melanie when i answer the phone at work and attend meeting!

Lol same here, nobody calls me Melissa, so much so that someone I've worked with for 6 years thought my full name was Melanie the other day!
Don't worry about your weigh in - if you have been good all week then you are healthier and that's the first step to losing weight. You might well be holding water for any number of reasons. Think of this as the first week on a two week weigh in cycle! Don't have a belgian bun - have a hot chocolate or something to satisfy the sweetness and get right back on there! I know you will start losing soon, look how hard you've tried you've even got injured in the name of weight loss!
I have a persistant ankle injury (weak ligaments from a sprain playing tennis at school) and when I was into fitness the last time, a trainer told me that a good exercise if you have a leg or lower body injury is to stand (half squat if you can) or sit on the edge of a hard chair, and punch with alternate arms. It raises your heart rate which helps to burn fat, and also gives the old bingo wings a bit of a seeing too (not implying you have them but I certainly do!)
Hahah I've just read the article about the photographer, they are hilarious! They'd at least be something to look back and laugh about even if you were a bit gutted that you had no proper photos. I bet they had some nice ones from the guests though. Lol the shoes and the chicken! I'm not one to talk about photos though, I don't think me and OH even have a photo of us together? In 6 years, is that bad? :rotfl: I hate having my photo taken, will have to practice smiling without a double chin!
xxThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
Mel- Im the same with my oh and photos, we have (actually its on display as mil2b) one really nice photo of us, and a few okish ones but 99% of them are horrible! Im just too teethy! I really need to practice my smile- or hope the photographer can do some amazing editing on photoshop or whatever they use!!:rotfl:0

Thanks for kind words Mel(issa). I went to weigh in and only lost half a pound. My ankle is still swollen so I'm going to stick with it as I 'feel' thinner. Trousers fit better etc and my daughter joined me tonight. So pleased she's acknowledging she's a size 16. I don't want her to struggle like me in my teens. So i didn't do cake I had a coconut yogurt instead.
I was horrified at the photo link that was posted. How awful!! Might photograph my food just for a laugh though!!! I have taken better on my phone when drunk! I hate pics of myself!0 -

Well done on the 0.5lb lose, a lost is still a lose and just think if you lose 0.lb a week that would still add up by the time the wedding comes. ANd well done on not eating cake.:D0 -
I actually would take a photo of our meal if we were having a formal sit down table service meal.
But then that is the sort of thing I take photos of when we're on holiday
Generally we don't have photos taken of us together - like when the camera is out we're usually apart (on other sides of the room) or one of us is taking the photos. He will take random photos of me (he has a lovely photo of me flat out on the floor sleeping in front of the fire - so attractive); and I only really take photos of him on holiday (I take one photo for my purse every place we go). BUT when we went to Disneyland Paris with his parents we relaxed the 'rules' a little and allowed our photos to be taken, and we were slightly more affectionate towards each other in public (we held each others hands, stroked each others arms that sort of thing - lol think we even gave each other a peck)... in preparation for the wedding lol.
There is one photo I do really want. I want a photo of the two of us stood in the street where the registry office is, with the church spire in the background. Not because I'm religious but because it's a symbol of the town we live in. (A bride on here got married there last year and I instantly recognised the church!) I can't wait to get married!!0 -
6 months today!!! or 25 more Fridays!!!
I have started putting together a few photos i have seen on other blogs etc for our photographer so she knows the style i like. There are some beautiful stone steps and railing to the Council chambers building next door to The Registry Office and i would like a shot of all us sat on various steps as our 'group' shot. Lets hope its a dry day!! Also i quite like the shot where the photographer is higher than the party -looking down on them. I would like the party in a heart shape and with only 40 day guests this should work.
Thanks for the positive words about my measly 0.5lb. Its a loss, its 0.5 gone forever (i hope!) and 25 weeks x 0.5lb is nearly a stone. Actually put like that its depressing. So i am going to aim for just 1.0lb a week and then it will be nearer 2 stone and that is my target.0 -
How exciting FutureCooper lol (sorry can't remember your real name). Love your photo ideas. And I like your positive thinking
We booked our honeymoon todaycan't say where but it's long haul yay!
