  • We're doing a flip flop suitcase covered in stickers of places we've been as we're having a holiday themed wedding, so I've bought all the stickers, now I'm just going crazy cos I want them all to come NOW so I can stick them on and cross another thing off my list!:(

I've also sorted out my RSVPs, like everyone else it's business cards from Vistaprint! I had to order two sets cos we're not sure if we're gonna have a bus to ferry the guests from the church to the reception. The extra set only cost a fiver so not too bothered at having so many.

This weekend I also need to order the big bridesmaids dresses (I've got 8  bridesmaids, 5 big and 3 little, I always say the 3 little ones don't count as they are OH nieces and I didn't ask them!) , I've been putting it off for so long as one of them is pregnant, but I'm gonna have to bite the bullet this weekend and order them. She has offered to buy another dress closer to the time if the one I get doesn't fit.

I've just registered for our gift list at John Lewis as well, I'm getting quite excited as I get to go round the shop at the weekend!

Natalie- that slide is lovely. Do you have a budget? Im looking around for you now, but think I may have to stop- I may end buying myself some bits!! I have found a nice slide I may show my sister:

I would say no more than £30, but would be happier with £15-20. :)
    That slide is really pretty!

Cor you have been productive - lol I know how you feel about being impatient!! I want everything to be sorted NOW (or at least to be ready for me to do NOW lol).

I haven't had a proper look around for haircombs as on mobile but have you had a look at accessorize? I managed to get a glitzy secrets tiara on eBay for a tenner so eBay could be worth a look?

    Ladies! I'm back!

Long time no see - I went back to china for a few weeks over xmas and made so many purchases! a quick update here:

Bought a wedding dress :o I know I know, I will still finish making my dress... this one will just be for the evening! it's really cheap and lovely so I couldn't resist... at least it takes the pressure off a bit with all the sewing...
Bought a veil - it's a bubble veil and suits my round face
    Tiara purchased
Invites sorted (for 12p each! they are lovely as well)
Rings purchased (again so much cheaper than the silly quotes we've received here)
    Some decorations purchased
Necklace received as a gift from auntie
Hairdresser found (well, sort of - I'm having a free trial in March and if it's no good then I can find another)

    That's about it!

I'll now try to catch up on what I've missed

Wanchai - I love Downton Abbey too... it's just really good, isn't it?

Mitchmotch - well done on the spending spree... do you mind me asking roughly how much the flowers cost? I'm still trying to decide whether to have a florist or to make the bouquets etc...

:) Have tried both accessorize and ebay. Most hair combs look too silvery and not glassy enough if you see what I mean. The bling detailing on my dress is very delicate and glassy rather than silvery so I'd want it reflected in the hair comb if I get one.

    Photos? :D
  • Lots of purchasing action going on! I think we are all well ahead of the game and a super organised month.
On another board a bride has thrown in the idea of a chocolate krispie wedding cake! I am now drooling and so want that. I still haven't made my mind up on a wedding cake. We are having a buffet of cheese and pate in the evening and i do want to offer something sweet tasting. I have all sorts of thoughts from bowls of strawberries and cream, to an ice cream van (in the hope it will be a warm summers day) or just a traditional wedding cake from M&S decorated with ribbon. However this has made think of a finger buffet style cake table. Various bitesize cakes like chocolate krispies, squares of cheesecake, like Natalies, but i would buy mine as i can't really cook! and any sort of cakes you could serve in little mouth size squares. That way i could just decorate the table and as long as they were well presented on pretty plates i could get away without having to do the whole cutting of a cake infront of everyone thing! The less 'all eyes on the bride' the better
  • Crispy cakes are LUSH!! Thats such a good idea, lol. I would be nervous about all the chocolate though

I have been trying to find various suppliers (as I am sure we all are) and have now got the ones I think I will go with for the major stuff, do these prices sound alright to you?

Venue £600 for ceremony and reception (ceremony room converts back to a lounge while we are outside having pics done) with 2/3 staff to serve at the bar
Registrar £375 (is it wrong to begrudge having to pay this much for 15mins)
Hog roast £350 inc the pig, stuffing, apple sauce and 120 rolls (I'll make my own salads..we have 60 guests but i figured there should be leftovers)
Dj - £170 a local guy who helped me out with fundraising last year
Photographer - now, I was quoted £200 by a photography student who wants to build a rep. Problem is I have now seen photos she has done of other weddings and to be frank, they are not good!!! I have however seen someone else who charges £250 and has a good selection of past work to look at..
Car £80.. My brothers friend has just got a brand new Jaguar.. asked him if I can pimp it with ribbons and give him £80 and an invite to the evening and he seems up for it :)
Wine for the tables - I feel like I should pay for a bottle of each colour on each table.. looking at around £200 for this..would you do it or not?
  • on the subject of wedding cakes.. I originally wanted a 3 tier from m&s. We don't have staff though so I guess my mum or sister would have to go out to the kitchen and cut it. Hmm

Because of that I am now wondering whether individual cakes in clear boxes would be a better idea and then just 1 cake on top to cut..
  • Oh and tablecloths.. never in my wildest dreams of wedding planning did I think that getting tablecloths would be a headache.. SO expensive!! I realise it might make me look a bit chav but I have ordered 1 plastic soft touch one from e bay to see what it would look like if I just have to forget linen in the interests of cost
