I forgot to say I cancelled my honeymoon to Italy and instead we have booked 2 nights in a hotel in Bath. I decided that I wouldn't feel right leaving the baby when they are so young and didn't want to take him abroad. We are going to do something bigger next year.

Well down on the way your runs are going. That is one thing I am not looking forward to is losing the baby weight before the wedding.
You can put me down as coming from Southampton if you want xx
  • Lots of newbies! How exciting, welcome to the thread. I lost my decree absolut also and had to pay £60 for a copy! Still its worth it to get a new surname :rotfl:

I think that is very sensible - canceling your honeymoon - I think I'd be the same.
Thanks! I'm sure other mum's on here will be telling you this but I would say to not give two hoots about your weight. For now anyway. Enjoy being a knackered tired stressed out mum instead :p :rotfl: x

Wow you are a bunch of chin waggers! Hello to everyone who is new here

I've just got back from my body combat class and truck me I am shattered now! Feels really good though so think I might go again!
Hi Everyone, just found your forum and as I getting married on a shoestring (seriously, I may have to use shoestrings) I thought I might join you :)

We decided on Boxing day to get married on our 10th Anniversary which will be July this year. My lovely MIL to be has gifted us 2 thousand pounds which will pay for the big things I think but weddings are just SO expensive!!!! I mean I had heard of the wedding tax before but I don't think I quite prepared myself for the price rises when you mention the W word..

Ok so I have found a venue nr us which has a license, we can have it from the day before at 6pm until midnightish on our wedding day - ceremony booked for 3:30pm. My brother has a friend with a swish jaguar and I have offered him £60 to ferry me and fiance (seperately obviously, lol)

After the ceremony we go out for bucks fizz/glass bottle of coca cola and little bags of popcorn (instead of canapes) and photos (£200 quote from a girl just starting out and we have 3 keen photographer guests)

Neither of us are very formal and there will be about 10 children there so we have decided to go for a hog roast instead of "proper" wedding breakfast. I have been quoted £350 to include the hog (120 portions - we have 60 guests), stuffing, apple sauce, 120 rolls and napkins and a chef to carve and serve buffet style. I figured I would do some big fruit bowl size bowls of salad and put them in the venue fridge the day before. Thinking of making the dinner for about 5:30?

In the evening I thought I might put out just crisps and nuts and/or cheese and biscuits (and grapes) - we have about 20 more coming for the evening

so thats what I have so far.. still LOADS left to do, I am having trouble getting to sleep because ideas keep popping up!! :rotfl:Can anyone see anything obvious I am missing so far?!?! any tips on how to keep the budget down would be appreciated!!

They are soooo expensive!! Everything is so dear, and it gets dearer when you mention the W word! I love the idea of your little popcorns, cute!
I am coming in at under 5000 for everything at the moment including a weeks honeymoon and spending money, venue, pimms reception and food with a sparkling wine toast (no wine on tables lol I'm not that generous - people should be buying us drinks lol!). Things I have done to keep the costs down:
    • Grooms wedding ring from goldsmiths using Tesco vouchers (would have got mine from there too but they didn't have one I liked)
    • Dress was reduced in Monsoon because of a small rip in the shoulder, I argued and they gave me £100 off :p Keep and eye on them and inspect the dresses like a hawk if you go there!
    • Bought the invitations off Ebay, got 60 day ones and 70 evening ones for about £30.
    • Probably not bothering with favours but if I do decide to I will go to makro and buy those big jars of sweets you can get and just divvy them up.
    • Honeymoon is with Jet2Holidays :p:D
    • Cake will be from M&S probably, waiting for them to do 3 for 2!
    • Most stuff I've just bought in the sales!
    • Centrepieces will be home grown.
    • Can't think of anything else really!

Well done for trying to lose weight - my friend was a 26 and has lost 2.5 stone in about 3 months, but that's only taken her down to about a 22 - it's so hard though I'm trying myself! Really good luck with it xx

Cor you lot have been busy!!
Okay I'm multi-quoting this but I can't tick enough boxes to get everything so I will have to come back in a tick for the rest lol.

Well my news - the Rainbow Club shoes have arrived today. Mmm mixed thoughts - they are lovely shoes - really lovely - but I don't know if they are wow enough. I'm still loving my Miss KG shoes - and I do keep coming back to them and melting. But whether they will go is another thing (hurry up bloody dress!!!) The RC shoes are too small (I ordered half a size smaller than I would normally order on the grounds that they are court shoes which tend to slip slop all over the place), so they need returning anyway. I have emailed my bridal shop to see if I can pop in on Saturday to hold the shoes up to the dress to see if it's the right colour. Then I can return them. If they are the right colour I may reorder them in the right size when I have a dress fitting date booked. If they are the wrong colour I will wait to see if my miss KG shoes go - and if they don't I will order them from a site that bleaches RC shoes when you buy them. (This whilst it's a faff is actually saving me around £20 off a 'try before you dye' site).

My other news is my long running tights have arrived today - now just need to go out running in them (waiting for MrD to come home).

I think you should just go for the Miss KG ones - they are bound to go and you know deep down they are your favourites!

Hello to anyone I've missed out btw! :)

    Slight bridezilla moment coming up:

OH is taking charge of the honeymoon research - at last, he's doing *something*!!!! but now he's obsessed with it and talks about it all the bl00dy time... eh, hello, we have a whole wedding to plan as well! He's not that interested in most of it :o
Now you know how he normally feels ;) Hehe my OH is obsesssed with this flipping wedding and is always banging on about 'we should do this' and 'we should do that' so I have to be the evil one who brings him back down to earth by showing him the bank balance lol! He's such a woman haha I can't wait to see the inevitable photo of me and my dress with a pint and him holding a little glass of soco and lemonade!

I'm sure I meant to answer some other things but I have totally forgotten what they are now :o

    xx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

Decisions decisions!! Better for the budget as well if I stuck with the Miss KG ones - £75/79 (can't remember) on RC shoes are over what I set out to pay on shoes.

(Thank you for all the well dones on the run!)

Bed time soon for me! Am shattered!! Feel like I could sleep for a week.

I am fed up of honeymoon talk tbh, I would rather talk about the wedding! I am starting to sympathise with him lol!!!! Now we're both obsessed - but with different things! :rotfl:

Well done to you on your combat class, and to Natalie for the run, I feel guilty now :o I did a 40-minute walk at lunchtime and two short bike rides to and from work, but still...

Natalie - definitely get the Miss KG shoes if they're the ones you love. Would the dress shop lend you a swatch of fabric to check against them? x

I already have my Miss KG shoes :) Have had them since February. :D The problem with them isn't their colour - it's whether they will go with the style of the dress once it's been chopped up into a tea-length dress, and as such I will only know whether they do when I see *my* dress - not the sample one. But the Rainbow Club ones will definitely go with the dress style wise (and they are lovely), but I'm not sure about their colour and whether they'd need dying. I do want my shoes to go with the dress lol. I do love the Miss KG shoes and I will definitely wear them loads not just at the wedding (hence why I've kept them). But I'm not sure if they will go with the whole strapless, tea length, princess style dress. And as you know I'm not the most patient of people so having to wait for my first fitting to check is doing my head in. (I'm also having to wait till then to check whether my necklace will go - I'm convinced it won't, and to get an idea about hair combs).
  • :j Had a text from home to say my shoes have arrived! Can't wait to get home now and see if they fit and more importantly that they don't clash completly. It means i can have a peep at my dress also as i haven't touched it for ages. I am not allowing myself to try it on until i have shifted at least another half stone.

Tracy - Bath is one of my favourites cities. Its all built on ley lines. You must take the boat ride and see the 'other' side of Bath. I think its the right choice as you may not relax on honeymoon having left the baby and being so far away IF you need to get home. Babies/children always get ill or have an accident at the least convenient times!
